2 month update
Truly in the ugly duckling phase. I think I shed most of the transplanted hair. On the bright side, I do see a lot of baby hairs coming out in the bald spots. Still concerned about the shock loss patch on the back/side of the donor area. Doesn't seem to be improving but I guess will need to wait it out. One side of the hairline is growing much slower than the other one. Is this normal?

Thank you how was your experience with Dr Yaman?
I agree, my shedding was not aggresive at all.
I am documenting my progress in my thread. Coming up on 2 months soon. The actual operation/accommodation was all great and Dr. Yaman and team were great, now just hoping for a great result which is really what matters.

Great progress!
I have my 2 months coming up after HT with Dr. Yaman, I'd say my shedding was probably more aggressive than yours. Hoping I can have something similar to yours in a few weeks.

1 month update
Lots of shedding over the past few days. I am a bit concerned about that patch developing on the side donor area (see picture with the red circle). I have been told by some on the forum that this is just shockloss and should recover so hopefully that's the case. Looks like I will be trapped in the ugly duckling phase over the next few months.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Looking good, and happy growing!
My hair loss is very similiar to yours, and Ive been quoted 4500 grafts from Dr Yaman. Still deciding where to go
Did he give you a breakdown on how many grafts used for the hairline and how many for the crown?
Can't remember the numbers now but obviously alot more grafts for the front vs. the back. He gave me a full overview at the clinic at how much density will be at the front, middle and back. As you go from front to back, the density decreases. One great thing I found about the doctor was his ability to explain everything simply and show me all the calculations. He measured my donor hair thickness and showed me on a predetermined table that my measurement was on the high end. This of course gave me alot of confidence.
Also, while he initially quoted me 4000 grafts, after the consultation he said we can do 5000 which was great. Hopefully my donor heals soon as I am a bit worried about being over harvested.

Hi All,
I've benefitted immensely from this forum so wanted to document my journey for others. I won't go into details on the full experience as it was quite consistent with what others have posted over the past few months about Dr. Yaman. Overall, the level of service, accommodation, communication and care was top notch and I highly recommend the clinic (of course hoping the results will be great too but will need to wait a while for that). A couple points I wanted to note which aren't perhaps covered as frequently and/or are just my observations and opinions as I went through the surgery and early post-op experience:
- HT is a highly manual and labor intensive process. My surgery took 10 hours (~5000 grafts). I hear a lot of debate about doctors vs. technicians doing the work. There is no way I would want 1 person (doctor or otherwise) working 8-10 hours alone as they will definitely lose focus. I think any clinic you chose should have experienced technicians who do this work frequently. Of course certain parts of the surgery should be performed by the doctor (e.g. hairline design and incisions). Others may argue that the extraction and implantation should also be done by the doctor; that is fine but it should be at least 2-3 people and if all of them are doctors I suspect the cost will be a lot higher.
- You need a REALLY good neck pillow as its tough to sleep for the few days post surgery without one. There were a couple other people who were getting their wash done at the same time as me and they were complaining about the quality of the neck pillow provided by the clinic. I was recommended the Cabeau neck pillow by someone and thought it was fantastic.
Now onto the pictures. I will post more as time goes by. Would appreciate your comments and thoughts.

Yes, I think the work looks amazing especially the coverage. Yes, it was a 2 day session. 3K first and 3.4K next day. 800 came from the beard.
In terms of extractions. I'm not sure. The surgeries were that long I honestly don't remember but I think it may not have been manual. Or maybe it was manual in some parts. I'm not sure.
Did the clinic tell you ahead of time that they would be extracting from the beard or was that a decision made when you got there?

looks great

Looking forward to seeing progress. I have Dr. Yaman booked in Jan

Hi All,
I figured I should give everyone an update on how my journey is progressing as this group has been so helpful and informative.
I had to postpone my intending session in September to April next year due to work commitments that required me to travel internationally. But during this time I have been discussing my situation and having "virtual consults via sending pictures" to a number of Doctors and thought I would share my findings.
Eugenix
- Great consult with team
- Provided solid information and assessment on grafts required
- Felt very pushy for me to pay a deposit and make an appointment
- Assessment
- ~4400 grafts needed
- Doner hair was average and would be able to proved up to ~3500 grafts
- Remaining would come from beard
- ~$14,000 (AUD)
Dr Yaman
- Easy communication (Ihsan was very easy to deal with)
- Fast response
- Very fileable with dates - doesn't need any deposit or is not pushy for payment
- Assessment
- ~4500 grafts needed
- Doner hair was average and would be able to proved up to ~3800 grafts
- Remaining would come from beard
- Would be done over 2 days
- ~$8,800 (AUD)
Vertex
- Slow to respond
- Not much communication but provided a detailed response
- Assessment
- ~4500 grafts needed
- Doner hair was not mentioned
- Remaining would come from beard
- Would be done over 2 days
- ~$ 18,000 (AUD)
Knudsen Clinic | Sydney
- In person meeting
- Rushed and not very friendly
- Assessment done in less than 15 min
- Assessment
- Can "maybe get 2000 grafts
- Doner hair was ok and had a few "2's and 3's"
- ~$16,000 (AUD)
Dr Gur (Feucapilar)
- Very very slow to respond
- had to chase constantly for an update
- Assessment
- Doner hair is very low
- Wants me to see if donor area affected by hair loss
Of all the virtual consults, only Dr Gur said the donor was bad (all doctors supplied with the same pictures - I posted them on my other thread) It does worry me a bit, but 4 out of 5 seemed to think the donor was ok.
I am booked in with @Dr Resul Yaman on the 4th April 2024 and am now just counting down the days - I am really hoping to finally have some hair again!
I consulted with more than 15 clinics including most of the recommended ones on this forum. Out of all of them, Dr. Gur is the only one who said I have weak donor area. Most other clinics actually said I have very strong donor area. I also thought their response time was extremely slow and I was the one chasing them.

Following your journey as i've booked Yaman in late Jan 2024. Great results thus far. Hope to see your donor area recover soon!

Great results! I have booked Dr. Yaman for end of Jan 2024. Anyone else looking to go around that date?

Thanks all for your replies, very helpful!

He is good one. But there are better options to consider. @A_4_Archan shared list of doctors with price range. I used that as reference to shortlist
Sorry I am new to this forum. How do I find this list?

I am considering Dr Laorwong in Bangkok and also looking into Dr Jebai in Beirut Lebanon. I got evaluations from Dr Gur, Dr Yaman, Dr Bicer from Turkey.
Thoughts on Yaman? I am considering him. Bicer has been very slow to respond to me.

You may need around 6k from hairline to crown for a decent density...
It depends on you personal choice how you would like it...this thing is subjective ..i was in similar situation and i went for high density on hairline upto mid scalp...now will go for my 2nd session for my crown area and will do a moderate density work there....you cn look at my thread to get an idea...
Just read your thread. Amazing results! If you don't mind me asking, what was the cost at the clinic you went to?

@Random27 My hair loss is exactly same as yours Norwood V. I have contacted many clinics and suggestion is to get 3500-4000 grafts as first session to cover frontal and mid scalp with good density. After 1 year go for second session to cover crown area with 2000-2500 grafts. I live in USA and in the process of finalizing the doctor to schedule the surgery.
Thanks for your reply. Which clinics are you considering? Would be great to connect and get your experience given we are in the same boat

Month 3 update
Lots of new hair growing on both sides of the hairline although one side appears to be growing alot faster than the other one. Is this normal?
The shockloss which I experienced on the back/side in month 2 no longer appears to be there although these pictures are after I got a to trim the sides to size 2. Crown growth is still quite slow, not sure if I will get much coverage in that area
