Hair in the donor area is not growing. I'm 9 weeks post-op, and I can feel some small hairs in the donor area, but they are not growing. Why is that?

Understanding Hair Transplant Recovery: Shedding and Growth Progress at 7 Weeks with Minoxidil and Finasteride
I had a hair transplant 7 weeks ago, and although new hair is starting to grow, I'm still experiencing shedding. Is this a normal part of the process? I'm also using minoxidil and finasteride.

5 days is a little on the early side for temporary shock loss but it’s certainly possible. If you noticed a change in your donor area from the first day to the fifth day, then it very likely is early shot loss. I suggest posting some photos of your donor area immediately after surgery and now for additional feedback.
Best wishes,

Shockloss
When does shock loss happen in the donor area? Could it be around 5 days after the operation that you start to lose hair in the donor area, or am I mistaken?

Yes. Using more anesthesia can cause it to be worse. Melvin made a video about shock loss. Maybe him or someone else can post it.
Is this an improvment from last week?

Ok then you need to just wait a few months and let everything heal. You could have a lot of temporary shock loss which is normal. What happens is the surrounding hair falls out due to the trauma of surgery. It takes a few months to start growing in again.
I hope they had to give me extra anesthesia because I was feeling it, and I was very dizzy after the surgery. Could this increase the risk of shock loss?

How long ago was your hair transplant? I ask this because if it was within a few months ago then it could be shock loss and you would just need to wait and let it regrow. However if it’s getting to a year or longer then what you can do is have some body hair transplanted into the thin areas of the donor. You could also try some SMP. I don’t personally like SMP very much unless it’s a severe case without any other options, but it is an option.
It was 6 weeks ago
