I paid for an online consultation which I didn’t mind doing but was limited to a Q and A session, with a plan made according to pics submitted. Are in person consultations usually more expensive than online?

I did 6 or 7 consults, only 2 were paid consultations.  I found in.person better because the doctor was able to do a more thorough exam on the hair using a detailed camera like microscope.

Do the best you can, if you have local doctors, talk with them F2F.

    My two cents...

  2. Hi,

On a slightly separate note, are you happy with the appearance of the beard hair on the scalp?  Any other thoughts on the beard to scalp transplant?  Are you still able to grow a full beard?  I am going in next week for 2,500 Beard to scalp transplant and 1,000 scalp to scalp HT.  I already had 4 previous HT going back to the mid-1980s.  Thanks for your response.

  3. I think it is looking really good, congratulations. It will keep getting better and better.

How did the beard heal? Any complications with BHT? Can you tell the difference between beard hair and scalp hair?

I am going in next week for my 5th HT, 3 punch methods performed in late 1980s and a FUT in late 1990s.  Doctor expects 1,000 from scalp and 2,500 from beard.

    Wishing you the best!

Hi, no I did not have the cobblestone issue.  I had other issues due to the fact my first hair transplant was performed in the 80s.  I had a follow up procedure around 2000 and the doctor did an excellent job camouflaging the previous issues from the 1980 procedures.  I was amazed at the results they were able to achieve.

  5. Thanks so much for sharing your journey.  The results look great.

This is a great community and really appreciate the comments.

I had my first HT 30+ years ago, with the old 4mm punch method.  Going back in next month for a 3500 FUE (1k scalp, 2500 beard).  Like you, I have a thick beard, which is a real blessing.

    Thanks again 🙏

  6. Looks great.  Thanks for sharing your journey.

On the pricing front, I recently had consults with 6 doctors.  My recollection is the prices ranges from $7/graft to $15/graft.  The prices were dependent on a few items.

    1. FUE vs. FUTFUT was cheaper.

    2. Beard vs. Scalp.  In most cases beard grafts were more expensive.  In some they were the same.

    3. Keep hair long or shaved with FUE. Shaved is significantly cheaper.

    Hope that helps.

Thank you everyone, quick update here at 135 days post op.

So I went to my barber and got my first "haircut" in like 6 years. It is amazing what a good haircut can achieve. I don't need the hair fibers anymore. I rather fade it from back to top, make hair appear thicker than what they actually are and I find it quite cool.

I think I will probably stick with that haircut while waiting for the second hair transplant for my crown. (I will consider it around the 1 year mark to see the full result of the first hair transplant)

I am really delighted with how things are going, even if I am always able to find something wrong since I have never taken that many pictures of my head haha, I guess I am just impatient to see the final result.

From top and back perspective you can see that hairs are still thin and patchy but definitely growing and filling the bald spot compare to last month.

Anyway, overall I am so happy !!!! I am excited to see how things will go in the next few months.
