I have a question for those of you who have had beard to scalp grafts done in your own procedures.

At what point, if any, did they start feeling and looking like scalp hair or like scalp-to-scalp grafts? Or can you still tell a difference? I had another hair transplant several months ago and had about 500 beard to scalp grafts placed. There's definitely a different feel and look to them. They're all in the vertex and crown so it isn't a huge deal and I'm honestly just happy that there's coverage in the back of the scalp now, but my understanding is that they would eventually start behaving more like "normal" scalp hair based on what I've seen from others but maybe I'm mistaken.

Dude, this looks incredible. What a transformation! You look a decade younger. You still have months left of maturation of the transplanted hair too. You seem to have good hair characteristics with thicker, curlier hair. Regardless, I'd be ecstatic with this result.

As others have said we need a pic from before the procedure to fully judge the result. If you were a NW 5-6 3000 grafts isn't going to give full coverage. Furthermore, the lighting in these pics and the way you're brushing your hair is going to make it look even worse.

Haven't heard of any surgeon or clinic say you need to stop drinking coffee. Pretty sure I drank a cup the day of my procedure. One is below my usual amount in the morning though and the only reason I cut back was so I didn't have to pee a bunch during the procedure.

Looks really clean and meticulous. Should expect as much from a Konior trainee. Also, good to see another US-based surgeon that does beard to scalp grafts. I feel as if there aren't enough of them.

It's great you're already on fin and min. You have a lot of miniaturized hairs on top which are potentially salvageable and maybe reversible. It also slows any further donor dipping. You're definitely a candidate but the important thing for higher NWs like yourself to realize is that a) you're probably going to spend more than you think, b) need more procedures than you think, and c) have realistic expectations going into it about coverage and density. Also make sure you go to a surgeon/clinic that specializes in higher NWs such as yourself.

I would second @mavigo about Dr. Panine. He does a good job with lower Norwood cases such as yours and he's very reasonably priced for a US surgeon who's on the recommended list.

Did you have a FUE or FUT? Cause it makes a difference.

Here are some threads that are worrisome to me: 

The density after 2.5k grafts is not what I would expect for this particular patient. Actually it almost looks better pre-op, except for the very front of the hairline.

Here is another case of bad angles and over harvested appearing donor for a small number of grafts.

Captain Haddock's case is probably their weakest one. I disagree about Ryan Daniels though. They fixed his hairline, gave him temple points, and put hair into his crown and midscalp. The crown is definitely improved compared to where he was pre-transplant. Mid-scalp is still lacking a bit but he is only at 7 months now so there's still a ways to go.

Crown is looking great for only 5 months.
