  1. Great post maahong.

    That being said though.....

are there any diffuse thinners here that care to elaborate? Such as when you got your HT, how long after more hair started to fall out, if it were the right decision, etc?

I also remember reading in this forum that Propecia was great for diffuse thinners. Figured i'd throw this into the mix and see if anyone could elaborate on "why" it is great on diffusers?

    sincerely,

  2. thanks mikethedane. I just didn't know if i was just thinking too much into it.

So it seems to make sense to others as well. Even then though, after waiting ten years or so, hopefully technology can speed up and we won't have the same options in ten years as we do now. I'm hoping that Propecia will halt the loss even longer. I try and stay optimistic :]

    Any other opinions???

  3. So most of us know that getting a transplant at a younger age is a very speculated topic. We all know the outcome of such, in the case of losing more hair as you get older.

I've read many topics with terms such as "devil horns" and that would be enough to scare me away...if all i had was a receding hair line.

    So i got to thinking....

Let's say someone with a diffuse pattern, with and even ammount of loss over the top portion of the scalp was to get a transplant, where the grafts were evenly distributed, no lowering of the hair line, and no dense packing. Even if the patient was to halt his loss, and maybe lose a little later, what would the outcome be?

Seems the more i think about it, they would be back to square one, in a sense, right? While that patient would not be happy, it seems that one would rather that than "devil horns" or dense patches in specific areas, or just a full crown and no hair in the frontal part of the scalp.

Could anyone elaborate or give some insight as to whether what i am stating is true, or whether i'm talking out of my behind?

    Sincerely,

    Empty Area

  4. Bill,

I in know way meant to be harsh or anything of the sort. I'm sorry if i came across as a butthead or what have you.

Darren, i apologize if i came across really aggressive. I too am in your shoes, and i wouldn't attack anyone on these forums.

I just meant that doing you research will help better narrow specific questions regarding your own personal loss, and situation.

I guess i should re word my posts a little. sorry guys!

    -Sincerely,

    EmptyArea

  5. ok dude,

you need to read a bit on the other threads. First off, without pictures, no one will be able to recommend anything without knowing your degree of loss.

Second, you said FUR? Im not sure whether you meant FUT or FUE for the procedure, but when you mention talks of travel being a problem and this and that, you aren't ready for a HT procedure. Anyone's who's anyone on this forum will tell you, again that travel and cost should NOT be a factor in choosing who to perform your procedure.

Do a little more reading my friend and then come back with your ?'s

    Sincerely,

    Empty Area

  6. I can't wait to have my procedure with Dr. Arocha!

Though i only did an online consult with him, i feel very confident in his work. Everything from his approach, to his patient results, his staff, and great attitude has made me very optimistic and confident in choosing him. October cant come soon enough!

  7. .

Is it not better to start with the finasteride in time rather than later? even though im not loosing hair at the moment?

Again, you want to consult with a physician dude. Go to a dermatologist. Let him diagnose you. He should be able to help you out.

As far as when to start propecia, yes, start it now! (that is, if you are indeed losing hair and your doctor recommends/prescribes it to you) What i would give to go back in time and not be as ignorant as i was ignoring my loss during the end of high school. If i were to have gotten on propecia earlier, i may have halted or slowed down my dramatic loss. I went from being a senior in high school at 18, getting all kinds of tail dude, to age 21 not being able to go anywhere without a hat because of my severe diffuse thinning.( not to mention a nushot to my confidence and self-esteem level) I'm about to turn 24 and having to consider more serious approaches to my loss.

I only tell you this so you can prevent or halt what may come. Taking action now, whether it be just going to the dr. or taking propecia, is a smart move. I wish the best of luck to you.

  8. I take my 1/4 generic Proscar at 5:00 am. At around 8:30 I take a multivitamin and one 1500mg MSM caplet with breakfast. Late afternoon/early evening I take a second MSM caplet. I have no idea if there is any rhyme to my reason but I like the idea of splitting the MSM up throughout the day. It seems like I've heard that your body can process only so much of something at a given time.

    And you may be right.

Splitting the supps is what i will probably do. I think ill end up taking the Propecia and multi in the morning (whole) still. But spreading them throughout the day sounds like an interesting idea.

  9. But i was wondering if it is recommended that i take half in the morning, and the other half of the pill the second half of the day.

I read this on another forum but it seemed like more of an opinion from a few people rather than based off of fact.

I currently take all of my supps, including 1mg propecia about 45 mins after eating breakfast. Should i spread it out? Take half of my supplements the first half of the day including the half of the propecia pill, and the rest later in the day?

Or is this just dumb dumb talk? ;)

  10. to be honest, the best advice would be any information you receive on this forum. Only you are going to be able to decide who and what feels right about your HT journey.

The best ive heard in a nutshell is to look at as many results as you can here, choose a few doctors that catch your eye, and weigh the options with about 3 or 4 and go from there.

I wish you the best of luck.

  11. Im surprised Dr.Charles didn't mention medication.

If you spent hours doing your research on the forum, im sure you would have come across the big 3 frankie?

Getting on Propecia at least may halt your loss, if not give you gains (as some have reported). Though, the word on the street is that Propecia may not help the temples.

Nonetheless, i would still give them a try, during and after your HT. If you haven't given them a shot yet, i would maybe give it a year before investing in a HT. By doing so, you could save some money in the sense of receiving less grafts, and not losing any more hair post op.

I wish the best of luck as always!!!

  12. The guy in my pic, in that specific movie. Think his name is Johnny Messner, the movie is Tears Of The Sun.

    Here is a pic: http://img5.allocine.fr/acmedia/medias/nmedia/18/35/05/83/tearsofthesun_p23.jpg

I probably could grow this if I had a sharper hair line - oh well. The sad thing about this is that you cannot grow this kind of a mohawk doing professional work. Being in post-secondary would have presented the perfect opportunity to do this cut, it is very rare and if you have the facial features for it, chicks would go wild for this.

Of course, I'd have more of the army cut mohawk and I wouldn't leave the horse tail at the back of my head.

not sure if you care about him as an actor, but you should check out the movie "Running Scared" he was in. Did a great job with Paul Walker.

Not to mention another guy who has a wonderful head of hair

  13. I think most on this forum will tell you that when it comes to choosing a top doc, what it boils down to is their results what you are most happy with.

To be honest with you, most of the coalition docs on here have impressed me quite a bit. The wisest thing IMO is to consider a few doctors that catch your eye, then schedule a consult with each. I know/have heard most of the docs on here can do online consults if you are not able to appear in person.

If you want a recomendation, i would check out Dr.Arocha. I've yet to have a surgery with him, as i am scheduling my HT with him this October, but i was SUPREMELY impressed with his post op donor scars. I think they are the best i have seen from any doctor on this or any other forum. Not to mention, he also went to school for art and admits to it having a certain influence on how he approaches each of his patients. I would definitely check him out!

But there are many other amazing docs here. Hasson and Wong and Dr. Feller are a few other among my favorites. Just take your time, weigh the options, and do what you feels fit.

As always, i wish the best of luck to you and many others!!!

  14. Welcome!

This forum is the best online source, IMO, to find the latest news and approaches to hair loss. I even find this forum as my "comfort zone". Members on this forum are really grateful and willing to help in any way.

Now first off, forget Bosley lol. Anyone who's anyone on this forum will tell you to steer clear of them. I can't count how many people i've chat/read about that regret spending their money and time based on the horrible results they've received.

My second recommendation is to get the cost out of your head. Cost should be the last thing to consider when choosing who and where to get your HT. I realize most don't make tons of money, but you have to realize a few things. Worse case scenario, you get a HT with a doctor because he is cheap, and you end up with horrible/poor results and a huge scar preventing you from shaving down in the future if you choose to do so. And you spent alot of your hard earned money on it!!

Do your research. This forum contains tons of information on the top surgeons that perform hair transplants, as well as pictures of their results.

Second, im not sure of your degree of loss (maybe post some pictures), but you should give propecia at least a year to see if it halts your loss. Some even experience regrowth. Give Rogaine a good while to see if it helps as well.

And if you end up deciding to have a hair transplant, start putting some of your extra money in a piggy bank. Start saving now. But like i said, the most important word you will ever hear on this forum is RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH!!!

I wish you the best of luck my friend.

    Sincerely,

    Empty Area
