    1. He did not tell me exactly what was transplanted per cm2 but I can ask the clinic and get back to you!
    2. I don’t think the surgery is “invisible” until hair starts to grow back within 4-8 months depending on growth. I will say that by day 8, when scabs are washed off, it begins to look more “normal” but still evident that something happened. Keep in mind that my HT was pretty aggressive and went well below my natural hairline so redness inevitably will be visible. I am currently shedding a lot and while I don’t think an uneducated person would think I got a HT, they’d definitely think I’m balding/thinning.
    3. I was planning on leaving 4 days after surgery but my swelling was extreme, and getting on a pressurized plane was not something I was willing to do, and ended up staying the extra 5 days. For the first few days I kept it super low key and just stayed in the hotel. Lots of movies and tv shows were watched lol. After the wash on day 8, I was comfortable going out and exploring, and the city is absolutely beautiful so I highly recommend this.
    5. The doctor did not inspect donor capacity in my case. With someone much higher on the NW scale who will clearly need multiple procedures, he might. But im hoping this is one and done for me, and based on conversation with him and staff, they believed the same.

I hope this helps and thank you for the kind words!

Might be a dumb question but what happens if you get on a plane with swelling? Asking because I plan on leaving back to the US the day after.

All 3 are great options in my opinion. Maybe look for results with similar hair type as yours. I went with Dr. Ferreira but I really struggled with my decision as I also liked Dr. De Freitas. In the end I'm sure all 3 can provide a good result though so take your time but once you pick, don't look back. For months after I booked Dr. Ferreira, I kept thinking about canceling for Dr. De Freitas. I'm only 2 months post op so my results aren't known yet but so far I'm happy with my decision.

Your progress is looking great Joe! I think you made the right choice for you. Then again I don’t think you could’ve gone wrong with either Dr.

I think Dr. De Freitas is one of the very best, I’ve been very impressed by Dr. Cuoto as well. All three are good docs, my suggestion is to speak to past patients, look at reviews and ask for video comparisons of patients similar to you. If possible, do a video consultation with each doctor. Once you speak to them, you’ll be able to make a better decision.

I think so too! Both are putting out great results IMO. Dr. De Freitas isnt doing video consults but his staff sent back my assessment. I had a video call with Dr. Cuoto and he’s putting out great results as well and does the whole surgery. Cuoto’s prices are a lot higher but I think the video consult and the fact that he does the whole surgery himself is making the decision harder.

Similar dilema here between Pinto,Ferreira and Freitas. I consulted with both Bicer and De Freitas a few months back.

I feel like a lot of it depends on your gut/intuition. But I am slightly leaning in for De Freitas but there is something that is keeping me from pulling the trigger.

Same boat man! I really like De Freitas’s results, it just looks like hairline density is a common theme with all his post op pics and videos. That or it’s just a lot more visible/noticeable in his photos. Not sure how much of a factor that will play in the final results but I think it helps. I have a feeling he’ll probably get my deposit in the end.

Anybody know Dr de Freitas current wait times?

I was emailing with Tamara. As of mid Feb they were booking for May 2023. That’s after an assessment.

The thing that seems consensual among most people around is that even though both Ferreira and Pinto are great at their craft they still fall short in comparison with De Freitas though but I am not sure if this is just because of personal preference or if his technical skills are better for most patients.

Ah! This is where it gets interesting! I really like Ferreira’s work, I’m sure weve all seen Rolandas’s results as well as the ones posted by the forum members and they look great and the ones I’ve seen are progressing nicely. I was actually guilty of almost commuting to the Turkey hair mill route until I saw Rolandas’s videos and wanted to go with Ferreira instead. And that further research led me down the rabbit hole again and onto other doctors like De Freitas and Cuoto.

But what are we measuring in terms of “falling short” on? Like for me if I were going off finished results I’m leaning towards De Freitas, haha as to why? I’m not really sure, it just seems like his has a lot of wow factor, not saying the other doctors don’t as they certainly do. Like for Cuoto I’ve noticed he can do a lot without a high number of grafts based on some of his videos! I don’t know if my observation is correct but I do notice he could be a little more conservative on the hairline than Freitas? Or I might just be imagining that. But I really don’t mind him stretching out a 3000 graft operation over 3 days to get things perfect.

  3. Hi Gents,

Was hoping to start a convo in hopes of helping me pick a doctor for my HT.

I’ve narrowed down my decision to 2, maybe 3 doctors. First is Dr. Cuoto who I just recently had a video consultation with, and quoted me at 3000-3500 grafts (over 3 days) and classified me as a Norwood 5 which is a lot worse than I thought I was lol.

The other doctor who I’m leaning towards is Dr. De Freitas who emailed me back my assessment and quoted me at 2700 grafts (over 2 days). I thought I was pretty set on Dr. De Freitas until I had my consult with Dr. Couto and actually have him as an option now.

I’m also considering Dr. Ferreira but he’s not taking consultations, and not sure when he’ll open back up.

All 3 are releasing amazing final results in their videos, and I feel like I couldn’t really go wrong with any of them. One thing about Dr. Dr Freitas that I’ve noticed that had me leaning towards him is that out of the 3 Doctors post surgery pics on their patients, he seems to have a lot of grafts (more than the other 2) packed into the frontal hairline which is what I really want fixed the most from this HT. I don’t think I’ve seen a hairline from that doesn’t look dense at all.

I think I’m still leaning towards Dr. De Freitas right now, but am heavily considering going to Dr. Couto now since I actually got to talk to him and got a really good impression out of our convo, he really comes off as a perfectionist.  I believe Dr. Cuoto also does both extractions and implantation which is a big deal to me.

Given that all 3 are putting out great results, I was wondering who’s final results do you guys like the most out of the 3? And if you had to go with one of the 3 who would you pick and why?

    Thanks in advance!

I was there Jan 11/12. He mentioned opening up the Fast track consultation again soon but then he also said he didn't see the point since he's a year out right now. If I had to guess in a couple of months he'll start again but that's just my opinion. If you want I can ask his patient coordinator and see if they let me know anything additional.

I would love that if you don’t mind! I’m basically down to choosing between him and Freitas. I’m aiming for end of year next year but can wait until the following year if needed to, so not the biggest rush to get it done, more so just wanting to get it over with and choose who I’m going with. Freitas’s team gave me a deadline of March to decide if I’ll be going with them and would be happy to go with them, but it would just kill me to sign the contract without hearing what Ferreira has to say first atleast. I appreciate it boss!

  5. I’m on a similar boat. My “research” and consultations were mainly around Turkey at first but I’ve seen the light since then lol. I’ve spoken with Dr. Freitas’s team and would be totally comfortable booking with them. I’d love for the doctor to have performed the whole surgery but I’m ok’ing with the extractions being done by his assistant since I can’t argue with the results that he’s shown as well as the member results here. I don’t think I’ve seen one botched extraction job at all.

I do really hope I can speak with Ferreira first before I book though. I love his work and I like how he handles the major parts of the surgery on his own. It’s really a toss up between Ferreira and Freitas for me. I’m open to getting the surgery done up to the end of next year if needed. I’ve been told that my quote for my assessment with Freitas is good for 3 months (March in my case), and I’m leaning towards just signing the dotted line and putting in my deposit if I don’t hear from Ferreira by my deadline with Freitas. But we’ll see!

  6. Following this, thanks for posting. I just got prescribed oral minoxidil and waiting to pick up my prescription.

I have the foam but it’s been hard for me to keep up twice a day. I haven’t used it long enough to notice a difference.

I haven’t had a HT yet, but would it be a bad idea to start, assuming that I’ll have to stop taking it pre/during/post surgery? Should I just wait until after I’ve had the HT?

Just know that he's currently booked up till Feb 2023.

Thanks for the heads up! I heard this from Alexandra via WhatsApp as well. Im on a waiting list for an assessment or consultation. I’m fine with 2023, or even later on that year since I want to take some time off work after to recover. I figured that the clinics I’m interested in like Ferreira or Freitas are pretty booked up for a while anyways.

  8. Following this! I like how the hairline looks on the photo man. I got quoted about the same number of grafts from Dr. Freitas also so I really want to see how it turns out! After you got your consultation form back, was your communication with them mainly back and forth via email? Did you communicate with Dr. Freitas at all prior to flying out?
