  1. It seems like he may have at one point been a solid surgeon, but by all available evidence seems to have declined in quality of work. Plus some of the anecdotes regarding his ethics and hiring practices are a little concerning.

Seems like it would be a good idea to put him at least on hiatus as a recommended surgeon. I don’t think it’s ethical on the websites part to appear to endorse a surgeon who’s a bit of a crapshoot - it’s hardly the first time a once reputable clinic has taken a turn like this (looking at you ASMED).

  2. Supposedly Dr Bisanga (very highly regarded here) prescribes 5mg oral minox to his patients, and I’ve seen a lot of people get great results at that dosage.

i recently started taking 5mg after about 4 months of 2.5, no issues. EKG and blood pressure are good, and I’m very active - however I did cut back on caffeine and sodium a bit to be safe.

  3. Hey ya'll - im coming up on 2 months post op in a couple days, and the dread shed is real ☹️ I'd like to return to martial arts/occasionally not wearing a hat in public, and taking my hair down would help make it much less obvious that I've had work done.

When is it safe to use hair clippers on the recipient area? Is there a certain guard length i should stick with to be safe?

    Thanks!

Edit: I used the search function, the handful of results came back with varied results, opinions ranging wildly from 1-6 months, hence why I'm asking.

i returned exactly 1 month later just cause i was taking an extra long break but i think some have returned as soon as 10 days so at 2 weeks you should be good. i'd say just wait 1 more week...PS do you take or plan on taking creatine ?

I don’t take creatine anymore - while it’s true that there’s no “conclusive” evidence that it has an effect on MPB, it is shown to increase DHT levels. I’d rather not take the risk personally, i have no intention of being competitive or anything.

  5. I’m a little over 2 weeks post op, and am absolutely itching to get back into the gym - I’m sure a lot of us are familiar with the irrational feeling of being “smaller” after only a relatively short period of taking it easy.

My clinic stated that after 2 weeks I should be solid - but look at previous posts here came up with others being told 3-4, or even longer.

Is there any kind of agreement on when weightlifting is safe post op? When did you return to the gym? Would appreciate any input.

  6. Hey everyone, thanks for the input - I heard back from Eugenix, they told me to wait another day before attempting another head wash.

Been a couple days since then and I’ve been given the go ahead to shower normally. I haven’t done so yet (paranoid ) but went ahead and did a gentle rinse and noticed 6-8 small hairs in the sink, nothing attached to them though. Is this cause to be concerned?

  7. Hey everyone! On the 14th I had 1500 grafts done at Eugenix (dedicated post to come soon) and have followed their post operation care guide to the T. I’m now at the point of my first head wash.

I followed their instructions regarding the head wash, soaking the recipient area with saline wash and shampoo for 20 minutes, but virtually none of the scabs came off - in fact many of them look like they’re still not even close to wanting to come off.

Is this normal? Should I try soaking again? I plan on contacting Eugenix later this evening (24 hour time difference), but I’m very concerned about doing this improperly and somehow damaging my grafts. Any input would be appreciated.

  8. I’ve been using oral minoxidil for a couple months now, and I’m looking at getting a transplant to fix my hairline later this year.

Out of curiosity - does oral minoxidil (or any minoxidil for that matter) effect transplanted hair? Like will it thicken hair taken from the donor area similar to how it thickens non-transplanted hair?

  9. I was considering Asmed at one point, and did a bit of digging - the owner Dr Erdogan is from what I’ve seen/heard a good surgeon.

His reputation has suffered a bit however because all but the highest tier package at his clinic involves technicians doing most of the work, which has led to some inconsistent, even poor work coming out of his clinic.

If you choose Asmed, just make sure you pick the option that has him doing most of the critical work. It may be pricier, but it’s the only package that has Dr Erdogans full involvement.

I know that @Abhinay Singh has been on vacation since I've been in touch with him recently. If he is your guy, he's pretty good at responding so my guess is that he's buried and playing catch up.

Nah I’ve been talking to Amandeep - I’ll give it one more go, if I don’t get a call back I’ll hit up one of the other reps.

Eugenix is at the top of my shortlist, they do such good work for how affordable they are.

Thanks guys! I thought so too. Fingers crossed!

Seems very uncharacteristic of Eugenix. I can put you in touch with Anil; let me know via PM?

Will do - they’ve been great for the most part, but for some reason the guy who reached out hasn’t called the last couple times he said he would.

  12. Hey y’all, long time lurker.

Being a Southern California resident without the budget for SoCal surgeons, I’ve been looking outside of the country for a possible future operation. While I’m willing to travel, Dr. Nader stood out due to a combination of positive reviews and relatively close location.

After doing a deep dive on these forums looking at posts regarding his work, I’d say Im pretty confident in his work, however I do have a couple of concerns. One being density - a few of the transplants I’ve seen have been fairly sparse at the front, and as a younger male that is a less than desirable outcome for me. Im okay with the idea of “touch up” work in the future, but I’d rather my surgery not look incomplete if that makes any sense.

Second, a lot of the posts on his work here don’t get updated with with results around the 12 month mark. While that could simply mean that people just didn’t feel the need to come back here to update us a year later, it’s something I feel a little concerned about, as I would like to see how the “finished” results of a surgeons work look like before I decide on them.

Does anyone here have any input on this? Preferably people who have worked with Dr. Nader, but if you’re familiar with his work that would be great as well.
