It can happen, it may not damage BUT its better to avoid it. Go to the shower, put shampoo on your hair, leave it for like 15-20 minutes, and then scabs will be come so soft they will just fall off soft without hairs, without even touching them - just with some light water pressure. 

Most probably nothing to worry about though.

Post Transplantation, when the scabs are getting out from head - the scab is consisting the hair - is this normal or failure to transplant
