You have an excellent head of hair. If you're able to take Finasteride then continue with this with your doctor. Finasteride can take up to two years to achieve final results/stabilization of your hair. You are also taking minoxidil so you are doing everything right! Keep us updated and all the best!

Heyy Gatsby, i am not taking finasteride, but I am using topical finasteride solution. I am very skeptical of using finasteride.

Right now I am using .1% finasteride topical solution but I am thinking of taking the .25% finasteride solution from next month. Any suggestions?

  2. Hi I am 23,started using topical finasteride and minoxidil sol like almost 5.5 months back, i have had problems with diffuse thinning for the past 3 years.

Can you please judge how bad is it now and any solutions to regrow the density?

PS- all pictures are taken under harsh lighting, last two pictures taken with wet hair.IMG_20210422_135548.thumb.jpg.ec3bd7327dc260c18471ed7bf83f0205.jpg

  3. I am 22,with norwood scale 1 diffuse thinning and possibly Retrograde Alopecia because i see my hair above the ear minituaturizing and diffused, i started minoxidil 5% once a day and its been a month and i am thinking of starting on topical minoxidil and Finasteride solution 5% instead of oral Finasteride because i am concerned about the side effects, will it be equally effective, also please look at the pictures and tell if i have Retrograde Alopecia and how intense is my diffuse thinning and will fin and min topical be enough once a day overnight?

Please help with all the questions, thanks.

The rate of side effects with finasteride is about 5%...so 1 in 20 people on it will have side effects. The sexual side effects aren't permanent so once you cause taking finasteride, the sexual side effects will cease. I would try finasteride 5mg oral daily or every other day and see how you react. If you're having side effects even when taking it every other day, I would switch to a topical solution of both minoxidil and finasteride as multiple studies have shown that the topical solution of these medications are effective in treating hair loss without systemic side effects.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions and keep us posted on your progress.

Will there be any problem if i start directly with the minoxidil and finasteride topical solution, if they are equally effective as oral finasteride and i am already using minoxidil, is that a good way to go?

    Have you tried finasteride?

No sir i have not, i just went to a dermatologist she diagnosed me with grade 1,she prescribed Minoxidil and its been not even one full month of minoxidil use, haven't tried Finasteride.

Also i am really concerned about the plathora of possible side effects associated with it, but i have researched and found out that topical Finasteride poses even lower chances of side effects, there are a mixture serum of minoxidil and Finasteride present in my region called Minn f 10, i am considering using it, would you recommend it?

You need to consider finasteride. It is the only thing that comes close to the underlying issue which is the dht in your body. Minoxidil works better if you’re already using finasteride

Minoxidil is basically a growth stimulant. It will help to lengthen and thicken shrinking hairs so their cosmetic value improves to be closer to what it once was, but if you aren't taking a DHT inhibitor like Finasteride you're basically just bailing water on a sinking ship.

Edit: You look like you've got a lot of hair still and are very early in the process. If you can take Finasteride without any issues you should absolutely start taking it immediately and add in Minoxidil after that if you want. You are catching it pretty early and are in a good position to save your hair.

I am worried about the sexual side effects of Finasteride, but i am considering Topical Finasteride something like Morr f10% , will that be fine to do, also do you guys think there is retrograde Alopecia there?

  7. Heyy, i am 22 and been noticing decrease in density of my hair for the past 3 years, so i consulted a dermatologist recently and she diagnosed norwood scale 1 baldness and suggested 1ml Minoxidil 5% once a day, will it be sufficient to reverse even some of the density loss, plus i am applying it on the sides because i feel i am losing density on sides too because i see a lot of thin hair above my ear, so i apply around 2ml total through out my scalp and sides once a day basically, is that okayy to do, how effective is minoxidil alone to gain back some density or thicken my hair, also do i have retrograde Alopecia? please help🙏

  9. Heyy i am 22 and been noticing that my hair density has been decreasing for the past 3 years and felt like telogen efluvium , my dad and my uncle all have diffuse thinning, i consulted a doctor and she diagnosed me with norwood scale 1 and prescribed minoxidil 5% once a day and i have been using it for 20 days now, i havent noticed much shedding since i buzzed my hair. So my questions are-

    1. Is it normal to not see shedding?

2.I have okayyish beard with some patches, i am using minoxidil for that too, is it okayy if i apply them simultaneously on head and beard?

    3. I think i have retrograde Alopecia as well and i am applying minox on side of my head, so in total i apply more than 1ml to cover my head and the sides, is it okayy to do so?

    Please help me out!!

  10. I started minoxidil after visiting a dermatologist because I thought i was losing density and its genetic telogen efluvium in my family and i started applying minoxidil on the sides to just in case, i have been on it for 15 days now, no serious sheeding also maybe because i buzzed my hair before i started it, lets see for 4-6 months fingers crossed, also Melvin love your YouTube channel, keep up the good work.
