    Hi,

This is my first post to this site.

My situation:  I have made a non-refundable deposit of $1,500 to book my surgery date, a month from now.

As I review this site, concerns have arisen for me.

I have chosen a surgeon, Dr. Rahal, who is more than twice as expensive as any other surgeon in Toronto I have consulted with.  I did this as Dr. Rahal specialises in hair transplants, is well reviewed (in my elementary research), I have a suspicion that you get what you pay for, and I was impressed by the sales representative.  I was ready to invest this much as it is very important to me that my hair transplant be undetectable and good.

Upon reading threads related to "Rahal" here I have discovered, 1) that Dr. Rahal's patients haven't been posting as frequently as they used to, 2) some have had major complaints with Dr. Rahal, 3) my expectations of an undetectable hair plant may be too high, and 4) it may be that Dr. Rahal is in the business of restoring hairlines to full youthful vigour, which would be unnatural in my case (I am 50).

Is Dr. Rahal old fashioned and obsolete (out of date with modern techniques and contemporary expectations)?  One thread suggested excellent results can only be expected 1/10 times, and 2/10 times were failures.  The remaining 7 out of 10 were, on average, middling (which is the same as a failure for me, for fear of being detectable).

Two other quotes for me (from SpaMedica and Dr. Asaria's Face clinic) came in at $9,000, vs. $22,000 for Dr. Rahal.  Does this make sense?

Even with the loss of the deposit, I would cut my costs dramatically by going elsewhere, and I am far from rich.

Also, is 3,000 grafts too much for a single sitting (this was in my quote)?

Your responses would be much appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

I am not sure where you got that statistic of 1/10 or 2/10 ?

as for 3000 grafts , i had 3003 grafts in one sitting and it went great !

The success of hair transplants aren’t dependent by age , yet better defined by the quality of your donor area. Going to an elite doctor like Dr.Rahal is an excellent choice and i would personally recommend it. I myself have very fine hair and got an extraordinary result and am throughly pleased that i made that decision.  The patients that i have seen come from Dr.Rahals clinic have had amazing results

I would say you’re about 7-71/2 centimeters. Normal hairline height for Caucasian males. Afrocentric and Asian hairlines are slightly lower at 6 centimeters.

Yup just did it , 8 cm !! So close estimation 😛

Well it gives perspective on how high your hairline is.  Im considering using rahal and would like a similar height for my hairline.  But without knowing the centimeter height I don't know how much I would have to lower my own hairline and how many grafts I would need  to achieve similar results

Ok no problem I understand! Ill try and post the measurements after !!

    Hey man.

    Great 1 year results ;)

If its not pain in the ass, Im also interested of your measurment from glabella to, now, new hairline.

Haha, if you can do us guys the favor.

Mine was placed around 8cm from glabella. It would be an interesting information to hear your case, since you shared your face pics

    Cheers

well i mean he did indeed lower it… it has to be 1-2inches from the original hairline. If you go back to page one you can see where he implanted it infront and get a good idea how much he lowered it !

i am not sure what a glabella is 😅 am i suppose to use a measuring tape from the middle of my eyebrows to the hairline ?

What's the distance from the center of your eyebrows to your hairline? Did they lower the hairline significantly ?

Lol i am not sure about the distance but they lowered by (a couple of inches?) mostly just completely rebuilt the missing corners was the focus. It may be hard to see in this photo in particular, but my beauty mark on my forehead is a good indication when it comes to the lowering of the hairline , where it was prior and where it is now

  7. 12 month update

So july 6 was the official 12 month mark

i am absolutely grateful for the whole experience the Dr.Rahal clinc has given me in this 12 month journey. The whole team has been absolutely incredible from Dr.Rahal himself to the patient care team , i am so happy to have chosen them as my HT option. I absolutely recommend them to anyone going through with the procedure. I got the comparison from the day of the surgery to now. Thanks a million times to this top clinic for this amazing experience

Thank you. I was going the FUE route but think I may go the FUT route since it has higher yield and I want to preserve my donor area since I most likely will need a 2 HT. You have similar hair texture as mine and you got great density in the hairline so that gives me hope. Great slick back look👍. I. Trying the same look.

    Thank you !!!! 🙏

It maybe a process to do research and decide which procedure to go with , but at the end of the day it will be such a gratifying decision !

  9. Personally research is always important ! Since its your first HT you should try and see several different clinics to see to general consensus on what they think is best. In my opinion as your hairloss is very similar to mine you seem like a NW3 atm and need around 2500-3000 grafts. In a transplant of this size i think maximizing FUT is the better route but if you dont want the linear scar or just prefer the FUE than definitely go for that. I agree with Melvin that one shouldn’t put all of his eggs in one basket and decide too quickly. Check the reviews as stated and try and reach out to several clinics !

It looks awesome ! Under certain lighting situations it’s normal to see this type of density, as your essentially replacing lost hair  with less hair , strategically placed to create an illusion of high density. Even at that, this looks like a great natural result ! 👍👍
