  1. I will go dig up some 1990s photos and some recent to show how it’s held up.

the work was ok for that era … but needs a lot more density now.

to Melvin… the number of USA based doctors recommended here is limited that’s why the post.

i have met with a few but some are so crazy expensive it’s not realistic.

    i have a budget of up to 20k and that’s a stretch.

thanks again ill try to post the roaring 1990s photos tomorrow

  2. Looking for some thoughts:

    I had a transplant in 1993 at age 25.

yes it was too young and foolish to do.

it was what was called mini-grafts at a long defunct clinic in nyc.

the work was ok… bad by today’s standards but not a mess.

through rogain and propecia and then duteresride I managed to keep up the fight for a long time.

but now I’m 55, native hair has thinned around the minigrafts and I need to add enough density to look natural.

My constraints are to be US based only.

    i would prefer FUE.

it seems this web site is very heavily slanted to mostly overseas doctors.

i am looking for an fue in the us for about  2000 grafts to give me enough density to look normal but thinning.

i had a consultation with Bernstein before he retired and he pushed fut too hard.

i really want fue and my donor is fine to support that

I spoke with rahal and hasson and they both seem good but i leaving the USA not a real option.

    Konior is awesome but I can’t go 30k for a procedure… 15 to 20 k is my limit.

Long post but looking for USA based fue for 15 to 20k that has better then fair chance to succeed for around 2000 ish grafts based on input from rahal Bernstein and H&w.

your input with these constraints is greatly appreciated.

  3. Please don’t misunderstand me. It’s not a USA is number 1 attitude.

its that the USA is a huge country with many people and many doctors. We have some of the best in the world for many areas of medicine but not so for hair transplants. Only a small number of good and very few great.

    it’s just startling.

and I’ll be honest the idea of surgery in a country I am not a citizen of is unsettling.

legal recourse is less and some countries are not transparent with their medical standards. So while choosing a surgeon is hard… choosing out of country surgery is very hard.. at least for me.

  4. Well one thing I am surprised by is the shrinking number of US based recommended surgeons.

there are some good ones for sure… but Konier is 35k for a procedure… after a year wait …outside of most people budgets

and several doctors that used to be in here are not now.

why is the state of US doctors so poor that only a handful of doctors can make the cut in a country the size of the US

its very troubling for US patients of normal fiscal means…

  5. Apologies if this is in the wrong category - I was unsure of which subsection to post to.

I posted to the general questions one as well.

I am curious why Bernstein is no longer on the recommended surgeons list.

The list is more meaningful if we understand why people are removed from it - i.e. is there a reason to no longer consider someone - or is it more sponsorship related.

I realize most people on this forum have their preferred docs - and he may not be your first choice for aesthetics etc  - but the removal does stand out as a question given his longevity and contributions to the field.

    Can any information be shared?

  6. in case the link does not work for you - text below:

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The state has banned a Syracuse doctor from performing cosmetic surgery because he used an unqualified technician in a hair transplant procedure.

The state Board for Professional Medical Conduct ordered Dr. Dennis Daly to close SNY Surgery Center in East Syracuse. It also directed him to permanently stop performing hair transplants, Botox treatments and other types of cosmetic surgery. In a signed consent agreement, Daly did not contest the misconduct charges against him.

Daly is a family and geriatric medicine doctor who practices at Familycare Medical Group in Camillus. He filed a business certificate in 2013 for SNY Surgery Center, a hair transplant business.

The board said a hair transplant procedure at SNY in 2017 was performed, in part, by an individual who did not have a medical license. The board said Daly “had reason to know” the individual did not have proper training or experience.

The board put Daly on probation for three years and said he can only practice medicine when monitored by another licensed doctor.

Daly refused to discuss the case.

Daniel Laraby, the doctor’s attorney, said Daly believed the technician who assisted him had proper credentials. The technician did not hold a scalpel or make any incisions, Laraby said. He said the state did not find any medical errors occurred during the procedure.

SNY was affiliated with A&E, a company that provides laser hair removal and other cosmetic services. SNY was previously operated by another doctor who retired, Laraby said. The owner of A&E asked Daly to take over the SNY practice, he said. The owner of A&E did not return phone calls from Syracuse.com.Daly did one or two hair transplants a month, Laraby said.

“This was just a side project maybe he shouldn’t have gotten involved in,” Laraby said. “This wasn’t something he was making a lot of money off of. He was just trying to stretch his legs a little bit.”

Daly has practiced family medicine more than 30 years.
