  1. Thanks for the response people.

    Who did your first transplant?

It's a clinic in Asia, I forgot the doctor's name (people here rarely go by the doctor, they just go by clinic).

I don't have hair loss, so the procedure I had was strictly to lower hairline.
Right now money is not a problem for me, so if a doctor that is known to be good can give estimation that it can be improved by x graft per cm^2, or increase density by x percentage, I will probably do it. I just want to avoid going overseas for consultation without getting anything out of it.
But I think you guys are mostly correct that my case is not urgent/necessary, I'm just exploring the possibility here.

  2. Years ago I had a hair transplant (about 2000 graft) at the hairline with result which I think is somewhat good. There are some weak spot that I'm looking to fix, but I'd also like to improve overall thickness. If I were to have a consultation, is it possible to get quantitative estimation on this? I'd rather not go overseas, have consultation but don't have clear expectation of what kind of result I'm getting. Here's some picture of my hair under harsh lighting.

How far are you post op? I am 3 1/2 months and in a similar situation left side is growing nicely, right side not that great but I have 5 more months , so i'm hoping the lagging side will catch up eventually.

You do raise a valid point. I too had 2 different techs implanting the grafts. If you are 12 months post op, I would revisit the clinic and the doc should fix it , given there is a marked difference in density between the 2 sides.

I am 5 months post op.

my point is that if such thing is caused by techs/docs (not by our physiology), I'd rather not visit the same clinic twice.

I believe it's partly caused by medical team because the uneveness split rather perfectly in the middle, but I'd like to have second opinions about this.

  4. I had FUT some months ago, and the growth is uneven, split almost perfectly in the middle.

My right is very good, I can't see where transplanted area begin. My left, not so much.

The doctor only did donor area extraction and made holes in recipient area.

The planting was done by 2 technicians (one for left, one for right), while cutting of the grafts was done by multiple technicians, I think they all follow the same procedure.

So my question is: HOW LIKELY is uneven growth to be caused by technician during planting of grafts? The process seems very simple to me, they picked up grafts from a plate using a tool, then put it into holes in recipient area, so I don't see many places where this can go 'wrong'.

The reason I ask this is to determine if I should consider going back to the same clinic for my second procedure to add density.

  5. The survival rate should not affected because the doctors would be going in between existing hair. The issue is when trying to pack (new) grafts closely to eachother, the blood supply may become compromised and thus lead to poor growth. That wouldn’t the case for a second pass for density.

so if I don't get enough density on first try, I can just get a second one. That's really cool :D

  6. I read that if we try to transplant more FU/per cm^2, survival rate will go down. How about when I put more hair on later surgery? For example, I had surgery about 50 FU/cm^2 and decided that I'm not satisfied with the result. 2 years later I want to increase density by putting 30 FU/cm^2, how realistic is this? is the survival rate of second surgery is that of 30 FU/cm^2?
