Any updates?

Hi Ladies & Gents,

I don't know about everyone else but my mind seems to change on what I'm looking for when I make purchases so I thought I'd get your thoughts on what you decide is the most important feature.

Is it to thicken?

Is it a clean?

Is it one that can help re-growth or to stop further loss?

Is it simply to make your hair look and feel better?

Or is it something else?

I'd love something that does all of the above and is still a good price but my current choice is to make it feel good and help stop further loss.

Sounds like you did the right thing by not giving up, I wondered if your using anything other than fin? Did you have any side effects with either the generic or pescription?

By all accounts it seems that the best results are from a combo of DermMatch and either Toppik or Nanogen, from what I've read on other forums/posts etc the Nanogen ones seem to stick better and feel less chalky.

Guess you'll have to try both and make your own mind up. Think both do money back guarantee's so worth a shot!!

Never tried it myself, prefer fibres such as Toppik or Nanogen. Don't really want to use anything that looks like a can of car spray paint!

Don't understand why if it is so waterproof that it would need to have sealer spray as well....

Try it out and see for yourself, you may love it!!!

Revita does seem to be getting a good reputation as it not only makes your hair feel thicker but improves the feel too, I found some of the cheaper ones left my hair feeling dry.

That Loreal Vive stuff sounds like it's worth a try!

You might be right about the 7% Minox having too much alcohol for you so you might want to look at this thread and weigh up if one of these Nanogen Scalproller's would be worth investing in:

What shampoo are you currently using? Nizoral and Revita seem to be getting goood reviews and as ScottishGuy said it may be worth trying Polytar AF.

Why did you choose to stop using Propecia?

I'd look into Toppik, Nanogen and Dermmatch if you want the best rated concealers. Not sure where you'd get them from though, maybe email them and see.

The results and side effects will be different for each person, no matter what treatment you decide to take but I think the whole 'pharmacuetical companies against the world' conspiracy theory is a little much. But hey that's your opinion right!

A lot of very well respected doctors prescribe Propecia Pale Rider and it's a little insulting to think that they are stuffing their pockets also.

Good to get your opinion on it but no need for the thick headed comment, we are entitled to our opinion too.

You need to find yourself a good cleansing shampoo if you don't want to switch but otherwise I think Severn is right, the foam should be better as there is less alcohol in it.

Alternatively maybe look at Propecia.

I would say that the paste/putty product being used shouldn't have any negative effect on your hairloss and it shouldn't interact with your Minox as long as you have given it time to dry in before application.

Always apply your minox first and any styling product afterwards.

Thats funny considering all the topical solution is- is minoxidil! Provillus is junk. Buy some biotin, omega3 and some minoxixdil and you have the same thing at 1/10th the price.

When did you purchase the stock? I've seen a shelf life on a few of the products of 1-2 years but generally most companies are being overly cautious. I didn't think Minoxidil would 'go off'?? Maybe it is to do with the alcohol reacting with the plastic in the packaging over time or that the preservative become less effective or just that the molecule may just begin to breakdown and lose effectiveness but I'd think that this would take years to happen.

I'd be very interested to hear more myself.

I think it depends on your reason for wanting to use it?

I've heard that it's quite a nice shampoo but if your thinking of using it because Aminexil has been promoted as a proven alternative to Minoxidil I'd have to ask why, if it is so successful, that it hasn't been FDA cleared after 10 + years of research?

I was wondering if there is any evidence that the irritaion by the alcohol in minoxidil could be seen as a positive by increasing the blood circulation in the scalp?

Could this increased circulation actually help stimulate the scalp making the treatment more effective?

I do not confess to knowing a huge amount about hair loss but am keen to learn more.

I'm pretty lucky I guess, I started on 2% Minox as a preventative measure quite young before any real hair loss began (dad has only a bit of hair loss but grandad was completely bald). Can only really see a small area on my crown that has signs of thinning so I use Nanofibres to cover this.

Minox has halted any further hair loss so far but wanted to keep myself in the loop should my situation change and I need to try anything else.

Only drawback I have is the very occassional scalp irritaion due to the alcohol.

I don't think I'm hung up enough to end up getting a HT, if it get's that bad I'll just shave it all off!

New to this myself but have been reading quite a lot of posts regarding concealers etc.

General concensus seems to be that the best combination is Nanogen and Dermmatch together as it gives better coverage. From what I have read Dermmatch doesn't look that goog up close on it's own and Nanogen is best used with a good, low pressure hair spray (maybe a pump spray) their own hasn't got the best reviews.

Your probably best off contacting a supplier of Dermmatch regarding the colour.

Are you taking anything to stop further hair loss? I'd focus on that first and foremost.
