Too early to tell for results.   Think I will be good.  Only issue I had was that she did 1700.  We discussed and  I was more than happy and willing to pay for 2000 while I was there. I could have easily used that and more to lower hairline a bit or fill in mid scalp.   I told her this before the surgery started.  But at the end, I got 1700.

She definitely is conservative. I have had two with her now and while I'm sure it would've been easier to just do it all in one procedure (2,700), she obviously thinks its best to and maybe more effective to split it up. I am young so she was conservative with me (rightfully so) and I didn't want to fight it. But i am very happy considering where I was to where I'm at now. I'll go see her again in 3-4 years.

I went in for follow up evaluations on days 1, 2, and 3 post op. Had areas sprayed/cleaned and looked over by Dr Nadimi. I believe they will see you even a few days past that if travel schedule allows but it depends on patient. Would recommend at least booking that many extra days though, to have area cleaned and make sure no immediate issues needing attention (I'm sure they will give you more details).

I second this - I stayed 3 extra days and went in each day for clean-up for no more than 20 mins. Usually Dr. Nadimi will be there the last day to give one final check and run you down with a timeline of what to do/expect over the next few weeks.

  3. Just an update. Had my procedure today and got over to the US no problem. They asked me for a formal letter (which I did have) and why I wasn't able to do the procedure in Canada and I had told them that options are available in Canada but i have an existing relationship with my doctor in the US and they let me through. Zero car line-up at the border too which was so refreshing after all those hour long waits coming back pre-covid. Also no Covid-19 test to enter USA but we will have one coming back to Canada.

Tough to say at this point— they are supposed to give update July 21st on canadian travel, however, you never know what is happening due to delta variant spread.

get a letter you are having surgery and call border patrol for up to date restrictions.  That would be the best way.  Best of luck

Thanks for the advice. Did that this week and that's exactly what they said so we'll get on in advance. Also no negative covid test to get into the US, which I was surprised but I need one anyway to have the surgery.

  5. I had a non-operative experience with Jones and it was not positive and if you do some searching on him here, you will one find specific post on him that will tell you all you need to know. His results also do not appear to very good so I would avoid. I haven't heard of the other doctor you mentioned.

Don't limit yourself to GTA - that's the worst mistake you can make. Rahal in Ottawa is respected and if you want to stay in Canada, him and Hasson & Wong are some of the best.

I personally met with many in the U.S. and was happy with my choice in Nadimi. The USD conversion rate is a little friendlier now than it has been for the past few years if that's any consolation, which may help you save a few bucks in CAD. Good luck in your search.

  6. Has anyone had a procedure recently (within last 60 days I suppose) that knows the entry requirements to get into the US? Is it a negative COVID-19 test at the land border as well? Did the border agent ask for any further specific information relating to the procedure?

Any information would be super helpful. It's not easy to find objective information and I'm a little anxious that we will be denied trying to get over for a hair transplant.

Is it required to shave your head? I've seen other doctors only shave the hairline area (and donor area of course) so that you can get away with a combover type hairstyle for a while.

    Was that an option?

It is not a requirement to shave all of your hair off.

I had my procedure with Nadimi a few years ago and just the back/sides were shaved as well as the front where I had my grafts placed. The mid and crown were left long and held up with a clip/elastic and this is how I left it for the entire healing period. If you're going to go through with it, just send an email asking if it's OK and then make sure you let her know on the day of because it's not a detail that is exactly remembered by her haha. Shouldn't be an issue though.

  8. Thanks for the replies.

My aunt and uncle recently crossed the border to accompany my cousin (their daughter, who lives in NYC) for an eye surgery and help with basic activities, etc. for a weeks while she recovers. They apparently got through but with a ton of grief from the US Customs agents, which may not be a surprise. Just wanted to get some closure on being able to go through in July but let's hope things can improve to avoid further risk.

  9. In light of how bad Ontario's situation is right and basically becoming a stay-at-home province for the foreseeable future and basically not allowed to do anything, I am curious to know how this will impact the border closures. I have an surgery scheduled for July with Nadimi (which I know is still a few months away) but I am curious to know on what are the chances you can actually get over the border without causing any problems? I am aware about all of the testing that needs to be done but can/will they just outright stop you regardless? Are hair transplant/cosmetic procedures considered essential?

Has anyone had one recently that can chime in here with their experience?

  10. Ill chime in here since I am a Nadimi patient as well. I had much greater loss than you and I only got 1500 and it still looks really good. Obviously a full density frontal third with 1500 is probably not realistic but she made 1500 go a long way and i was amazed. I am going for my 2nd in July to get some more added to the front and I am super excited. Some of the cleanest work and top notch post-care.

    Congrats and happy growing!

  11. Seconded for H&W and Gabel in the PNW. Can't go wrong with either. Border issues shouldn't give you too much of a problem if you cross a land border (just need a negative COVID test prior to entry) but will require 2 week isolation in a government-controlled hotel if you fly (which will run you an extra $2K so i suggest you avoid that method). This is the environment as of right now so if you're planning for a few months out, it obviously could be different.

  12. I went to her for my 1st and she is amazing. I was probably the most nervous I've ever been in my life and it went by a million times better than expected. I know there aren't a lot of reviews on here because she seems to be new on the scene but I wouldn't let that scare you. I only got 1500 grafts and she made them go a long way so this only bodes well for my future. She really helps create a long-term plan and she was very upfront about expectations, which I really appreciated. No sugarcoating.

  13. I am from GTA as well but I drove to Chicago and went with Nadimi. H&W was a close 2nd but maybe the distance to Vancouver scared me off a bit. Rahal was considered but as I did a little more research into him, I found his results to be a little too inconsistent for my liking and the fact that he would juggle 2 patients in one day turned me off. If it's a long-term investment, you want to the highest quality result and lowest possible risk and that will come with a higher price tag. Whatever you choose, I strongly consider not making a choice based on finances and look towards reputation and consistency. Good luck!

Also, avoid Robert Jones in Oakville. Guy is a fraud.

Hi 24!  I look exactly the same as 1 month unfortunately, which is slightly worse than pre op!  Probably payback for all my delayed gratification speeches to my kids through the years!!!  I’ll post another comparison shot in a couple days at my 2 month mark, but no noticeable change apparent yet, though close up reveals new growth, sorta like 4 day whisker stubble. (Hopefully the resolution will show it). Moderate occasional itchiness at the recipient site, which I’m optimistically interpreting as growth.  I am taking pre natal vitamins as a side effect is hair growth!!!!

Hey mooney - I'm about 7 weeks now and I noticed that I have these smaller black bulb hairs that aren't really growing or doing anything. They look sort of similar from what I can tell to some of those in this picture. Did they end up growing for you or falling out?

  15. Thanks for the response! I've been searching for some good detailed reviews about her (although I've already committed) but I just wanted to get a sense of how she operates. I'll be in Chicago for a week so I'm glad she's so good about following up with any concerns and I'll be close by if anything serious happens.

How does the pinkness of the scalp look now that you're 10+ days post-op? I'm shocked it looks so pristine and not a war zone. I'm assuming she does that for a reason?

  16. Congrats OP! I'm taking the plunge with Nadimi this summer and I'm anxiously excited.

Can you go into a little more detail about the procedure from start to finish? How has the pain been? Were you originally scheduled for 1680 or did she extract a little more as she saw fit?

  17. Currently scheduled for mine in July and I have 10 weeks off due to my employer's generous vacation policy so I'll be also studying for some professional exams in the mean time. Curious as to how many of you experienced pain longer than one week and how significant was it? I'm worried that I won't be able to focus on my studies during my healing process due to recurring pain from the scalp.
