  1. I'm a new member and here is my story. I'm a 48 yo male. No family history of baldness. Started thinning in the crown at around age 40. Started Minoxidil 5% religiously for several years and styling my hair differently. At around age 44 the golfball size area started to grew a little larger and finally at age 47 I decided to shave my head rather than fight it. Below is a synopsis of my experience with FUE...

June 5th, 2017 I had my FUE treatment performed by Dr Garbutt at MYHAIRTRANSPLANTMD in Oceanside CA. I had 1500 units transplanted into a 150cm area. My entire experience with the staff went very well. The procedure was performed under conscious sedation. I honestly slept through most of it and only woke for lunch and at the end of the procedure. I was told I had excellent donor hair and most of my units had 2+ hairs. I didn't feel any discomfort the first night and slept with my head elevated. I flew home the next day and other than a little soreness I felt fine. Around the 3-4 night the pain in the donor area was quite significant and I finally had to take pain medication. I never experienced any swelling in either the donor area or transplant area. After about a week the FUE's started to grow. I am now nearing 3 weeks post-op and most of the donor hairs have fallen out. Feel free to comment or ask questions and I'll do my best to reply. I am still covering my head anytime I am outside and using a light covering of Neosporin at bedtime to help with the dryness and scabbing.

Questions I have: When is it safe to start using Minoxidil again? (My physician stated using it too soon after surgery could dry the area too much) Should I begin using Finasteride? With 1500 units can I expect decent hair growth? When do new hairs start to grow? And lastly, does my scalp look like it should 3 weeks post-op? Thanks!
