I have found that HDC in Cyprus and HLC in Turkey have a great track record when it comes to beard and body grafts. I would consult with them about beard grafts. I'm going to have my first transplant with HDC partly because they are highly skilled with beard grafts and have suggested to use them in order to avoid pillaging my limited supply in my donor zone.

Except that this post has been made public, and members have the right to know about what happened so that future hair transplant candidates can make an informed decision and weigh the risks with regards to Dr. Yaman. I don't know the details of your agreement, but if the Dr. assumed full responsibitlity, admitted that he's at fault for the major damage to your donor zone, and issued you a refund (in exchange for deleting this post?), then this post should remain.

How much does Dr. Gable charge per graft?
-
So to be clear on what you said, you get to change the hairline that the Dr draws for you? That's good to know. One of my concerns about picking Dr Erdogan is that he push me into an aggressive hairline that would deplete my donor zone.

Hi pjms
When inserting the grafts what was used forceps or implanter pen?
May I ask why does this matter? Would one method produce better results than another? Is this a factor in your evaluation of a hair transplant clinic?
-
Hey there! I'm curious. Did you end up going back to Istanbul and getting the problem area fixed? Or were there any further improvements to your result in the last 12 months?
-
Yes can you please post a photo of your donor area and your vertex?
-
What was the clinic's response? Were you able to get assistance with the potential necrosis?
-
What a tremendous result!! Also in my opinion, the scalp isn't that obvious. Few people will be able to look directly down onto your scalp like the camera angle for your photo. Seeing that you're still at 6 months, you can still be very optimistic that your hair will thicken a lot more.

I'm planning on getting it all booked tonight through Armamed. I had sent an email with my images along with contacting them through this part of their website;
Not sure which they responded to but having done both I got a response in just under a week. Now in email contact with Muzaffer who i've discussed the process with and will be sending the deposit to shortly.
Sounds like i'm in a very similar position as yourself as have been toying with the idea of going with Yaman or Demirsoy and although Demirsoy is a bit more expensive, my experience dealing with both so far has been better with Armamed, plus I prefer the idea of a qualified doctor carrying out most of the procedure.
Hope this helps!
Yeah thanks that was helpful! I was able to get in touch with the clinic by (successfully this time around) submitting the consultation form on the Armamed website. I just got my email from Muzaffer and started communicating with the clinic.

Get a FUT, where do you live? FUT>FUE if you aren't certain you've stabilized your hairloss.
I live in Seattle, WA, USA but I'm only considering Turkey for a hair transplant. There are no well reviewed clinics in my area, and Bosley is certainly out of question for me. My hairloss has fairly stabilized the last 2 years. The recovery and post-op pain from FUT are preventing from considering it.

My advice would be to give finasteride a try for a few months. If you cannot tolerate it then I would be hesitant to pull the trigger at your age/condition.
Why would you be hesitant? My hair loss has fairly stabilized the last 2 years.

Please consult with a couple of physicians for their opinion, feel free to ask us who our favorites are either here or in a PM and we can tell you our opinions and experiences with various doctors.
As for finasteride, I recommend doing so, it is a preventative measure that will help mitigate future loss and perhaps subsequent surgery.
I have consulted with multiple physicians. Recommended surgeons like Dr Koray Erdogan and Dr Resul Yaman both indicated that I would be a perfectly good candidate for FUE and that they can restore my hairline and increase density with 5000 grafts and 4000 respectively. Neither one of them raised any concern with the health of my donor area. That's why I'm concerned about just pulling the trigger and moving forward without doing further consultations. HLC Clinic in Ankara, Turkey said that I only have about 3500 grafts and that 1500 grafts would be needed from my body (not sure where from other than my beard). Dr. Karadeniz who is ABHRS certified said the same thing you did, that I'm better served by getting FUT but with FUE, I only have 3000 grafts (6000-8000 hairs) that can be harvested. So my dilemma is, should I just fully trust a surgeon when they tell me that they can harvest 4000 or 5000 grafts from my scalp with no problem?
I have not consulted with surgeons outside of Turkey as I'm not contemplating getting a hair transplant in the US at this time.
I am seriously considering taking Finasteride. It has been brought to my attention that because I am very prone to shock hair loss and damage to my native hairs, I should at least take it prior and after surgery.
You also have fair skin and dark hair, which creates a stark contrast and requires more grafts to create the appearance of density, something that could be challenging if your donor is genetically limited as some have suggested to you.
Interesting... I have always considered myself a rather medium skin tone guy. I may be looking a bit more pale than usual in the photo because of the lighting and because this photo was taken in early spring after a few months of sun deprivation. Here's me at the beach a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully I'm not as fair skinned as the previous photos suggested.

Hello everyone,
I have been losing hair steadily for the last 13 years and finally decided to get a hair transplant by the end of 2017. I have been doing my reading about hair transplants since the beginning of this year, followed multiple stories on this social network, and got to know about the doctors that perform high quality work.
In the last month or so, I have consulted with multiple clinics, some recommended by this community and some not, in order to evaluate the response and communication, and get an estimate of how many grafts are needed. As you can see in my photos (taken directly under the light), sadly, it seems like I'm trending towards a diffused high Norwood. When contacting clinics, I'm mentioning that I'm interested in covering my temples, mid-scalp and vertex. I have also been using Minoxidil for 7 years. I'm not taking Finasteride, and I'm evaluating whether I want to deal with the risks of using it.
There were only two clinics that brought to my attention that I am suffering from retrograde alopecia which will reduce the width/extents of my donor area. One doctor said that 3000-3500 grafts is the max possible that can be harvested and another 1500 would need to be supplied from my beard or body. Another doctor that uses hairs instead of grafts, said that at most they could harvest 6000-8000 hairs (at an average of 2 hairs per grafts, it seems close to the other estimate) using FUE, and recommended that I go with an FUT/FUE combo. I appreciated the ethical responses of those clinics, and them trying to keep my expectations in check. I just wanted to see what others would think and make sure I'm not being steered in the wrong direction. Do you guys agree that I have a weak donor area and that 3500 grafts would be the most I can hope for?
Thanks!

Looks like the growth is solid!

What an awesome result! How did you get in touch with Dr. Demirsoy to begin with? I contacted him through the Armamed website but I got no response.
-
Your hair line looks soo natural .. I had surgery with yaman in April .. if I manage to get similar results I will be over the moon !!
You happy with the density ?
Have u been taking any medication or supplements ?
Thanks

So comparing Chevenowner1's surgery to Goblin82's surgery, it looks like Chevenowner1's 4300 grafts have to cover a much larger area (temples, midscalp and vertex) versus Goblin82's 3150 grafts on essentially the temples and a small midscalp area. Goblin82's density is looking pretty good already. Hope Chevenowner1's growth starts ramping up pretty soon!

Have you picked a surgeon and gotten your transplant done yet? Any update?

I read on this forum at Demirsoy performs the extractions himself, along with the incisions of course. I don't know if that factored into your decision at all but to me it's definitely a plus. Good luck!
-
Really good question man! These two doctors are also on my short list and I have struggled about picking one over the other. Dr. Yaman has a bit more exposure on this forum and has showcased his ability to produce good results but there were also a couple of dissatisfied patients (as with any doctor except maybe Erdogan). But otherwise, it's a toss-up. Good luck to you and keep us posted!
-
I can see some improvements in your hairline and temples, but are you really happy with the density on your crown? Seems like the density is still the same.
I'm glad you're satisfied with your result, but based on what I'm seeing, I wouldn't consider Dr. Cinik myself.
-
I hate to say this but - while I highly admire the Dr's response - I feel like as someone who wants to get a transplant with this clinic, the response leaves me with more questions and concerns. Is Dr. Yaman basically admitting that he is at fault and that this transplant in particular was done poorly? In that case, you have to appreciate the integrity and the forthrightness but wonder whether you'd want to risk using them. Or... Is the Dr. assuming the responsibility even though the "unsatisfactory" result may have been due to the patient's physiology? And in this case, you'd have to tip your hat to them and respect that they care about their patients.
-
Great result. How many grafts did you need? And how is your vertex coming along?

Ali Emre is more ethical and the closest to Europe or North America IMO. I had a surgery with Yaman so I speak from own experience
Why is Emre more ethical? Can you elaborate? What happened when you got surgery with Yaman?

It’s normal to have a severe fever with flu-like symptoms post-op? Why is that? Because of the travel through airports to a different country, or because of the surgery itself?
