I'm also curious about how long it takes before the transplanted hairs aren't so obvious and thicker in appearance than one's existing hair.

Thanks gents. This is helpful. Attached are some photos that show my current hair length. Think this would be a problem? I would possibly wear it longer if/when the growth is thicker, but would like the option to keep it close cropped.

@pkipling - I'm not too sure what a 3 guard means Is that considered very short?

This technically isn't a drug question... but interested in hearing about others' experiences with laser light therapy and/or platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatment.

One fear I have is there being noticeable puncture scars after the procedure as I typically wear my hair short. I have been told to expect 1000-1500 grafts.

Does it help to have the extraction done with the smallest diameter possible?

One follow up regarding the usage of ARTAS. What are the major downsides? One concern I have is scarring as I typically wear my hair short, so if there are complications with larger punches resulting in more scarring, that is something I will take into consideration.

Hello all. I'm new here. Here goes the first post...

I'm an African American 32 year old male considering FUE hair restoration. Started noticing hair loss around 20 years old and have gradually seen thinning around the temples and hairline receding (see photo). Not currently taking any meds or other non-surgical treatments.

Are there any members that can recommend an excellent doctor for my situation? Ideally in the California area, but willing to travel if someone comes highly recommended.

I have also heard good things about Dr. William Yates in Chicago but haven't seen him mentioned on this site.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.
