  1. Sorry to hear you are in pain. I know you have made several threads in relation to this. Have you ever considered psychological help? If the doctors have never heard of any other FUE patients experiencing your type of symptoms, maybe some of it has been brought on by your mental state. If FUE had any negative impacts on your overall health these boards would be flooded with patients giving out about x,y,z. There aren't any and the reason is because FUE is really nothing major at all. I went to the same doc as you and can literally say without question that i only had a small(manageable) bit of pain after the surgery. It was a piece of cake to be fair.

  2. Any updates?

Just as well i get email notifications about this place, otherwise i wouldn't check anymore. I'm two weeks from 6 months, and the surgery has been life changing already. No need to use concealer. Can wake up in the morning and head out without worrying about my hairline. It's been a long time since i can say that! Lots more growing/maturing for my new hair. If i run my fingers along my hairline i can still feel new 'stubbly' hairs sprouting up.

All in all, best decision i have ever made. Looking back on it now, i can say it's only around 8-10 weeks where you are looking like crap. Once you hit 3.5 months out, it's all good. At least it was for me.

  3. Couldn't agree more regarding temple points. I brought this subject up with my doctor, and he advised against me getting mine done. Now that i am 5 months post op and everything looking great, i am really disappointed in myself that i didn't insist on him doing my own. Each temple point required up to 200 grafts each. That was an estimate of course. I think it would be less than that. Having to go back and get them done just seems like too much hassle.

  4. So all your shockloss from the hair in the reciepted Area has returned ?

What do you Think abit the difference between your native hairs and the HT hairs?

    Can i see a difference?

No, it hasn't all returned. But day by day i can see progress. Maybe all my native hair won't return, who knows. Will wait till at least 7/8 months before i can have a good idea of the outcome. I can see a small difference between new hairs and old. It's obvious to me, but not anyone else.

Was the recipient area prepared without any shaving? Thanks for sharing.

The recipient area was shaved down with a 'no-guard' tiny head shaver. Not one i had seen before. Kinda looked like a small battery powered toothbrush if i remember correctly.

  5. No shockloss of native hairs in reciepted Area?

It looks like you still had a bit thin hairs in the front where he put grafts in between.

Yes i had shockloss. Both in the recipient and donor. The donor was pretty bad but it was on the back of my head, so the fact i couldn't see it made it ok with me. It's filling back in over the last week, and looks way better already.

In the recipient area, i had a horse shoe outline since pretty much when the new hairs fell out. My native hair in the recipient area grew back much slower than the rest of my hair. That was the toughest part of the whole process. Getting the op done etc was a breeze, but the first 3 months are really tough on the mind. Right now, everything is progressing exactly how the doc said it would. It's all good from here on in.

  6. 14 weeks out from op. Things are happening for sure. Kept around 15% of the grafts from op. Over the last few weeks can see action, and to be honest it's the best feeling ever. Will post pics at 6 month mark.

  7. Feriduni knows what he is doing, I had fue with him 2 years ago and am very happy with my result, life changing! Don't delete your thread mate, I'm sure you will be one very happy camper in 12 months time!

    I hope so too, mate!

  8. Hey Guys,

Just back from my FUE and can't sleep. So i said i'd just put up a quick thread to let you know how it went! I'm not going to go into huge details. I will put up two pics now and one at six months to show you the result. Post op pic is the next day after surgery. I did not lower my hairline one bit. I wanted to keep it as natural as possible. Am delighted with it, and just hope for the best.

I am 37 and on meds 5 years (Proscar 1.25 every 3 days). Losing hair since early twenties. I have spent a long time considering this. Proscar has stabilized my hair loss, and we only have one short life around here :)

The experience went as best as i could hope. No problems whatsoever, just delighted really that it's over and done with, and look forward to seeing how it goes! Clinic, staff etc were just top notch.

I should add that i had two small scars filled in as well, at the back and top of my head. Old sports injury, as well as a botched cyst removal.

The reason i am posting this is because this forum was a great help to me. Thanks!

  9. Thank you again for the replies....

I didn't mean that to come off as abrasive. These kind posts come across borderline "you are stupid for doing this"... Even though I am sure it wasn't meant that way and it is a compliment. I spent the time... the money and I am happy that I am seeing some progress... That is what matters.

Again... I am just trying to gauge if I look about right for 6 months as there are many experienced people here. I figured this is one of the best places I could possibly ask.

Like I said... I see many small baby fine hairs that are growing and beginning to lengthen. This is how much of the hair has come in... really fine almost invisible hairs that lengthen with time. I can see many of these hairs in the hairline that are shorter than the native hairs. Hopefully as they begin to thicken... it will make more of a cosmetic difference throughout the hairline.

Of course... I am hoping to get quite a few more sprouts over the coming months. Grow babies grow....

Don't worry. People come across here sometimes exactly as you described. I got the same kind of questions as you as my hair is more or less at the same stage as you pre-op. I posted a thread and pretty much everyone said i didn't need one, even though i do! It took a Doc to come into my thread and set them straight :) Good intentions from them, but nonetheless annoying. I think you are pretty much on point as to where you should be. Some threads here show massive improvements from month 6 to 10. Your hair looks great so far!

Where did you get your procedure done?

  10. I agree with Dr. Feriduni's assessment and plan.

You are clearly miniaturizing, not just in the hairline but in the top as well. This is no doubt why you are anxious to get it done now. I would have to agree with you. Starting on the hairline you have, and no lower, looks about right to me based on the angles of the photos.

Thickening up the front will give you a more solid frame and you can comb those hairs backward to give a "puff" effect and make the top look thicker as well. CAUTION though, the FUE procedure does not typically produce high quality and yield of single hair grafts, and you are going to need a lot of them to beef up your hairline without looking stalky. I

f you are dead set on doing it as an FUE just be prepared to do another pass sometime up the road, then you should be fine. But again I want to say caution because it looks like your other hair is miniaturizing as well UNLESS that top photo you put up has the hair wet. In that case, nothing to worry about yet. But if that hair is dry, then there is massive miniaturization going on and you may want to start planning for that now.

    Best of luck to you

Thanks for your reply, Doc! Appreciate it. I agree with what you have said. Before i started Proscar my crown was noticeably thin. That pic of the top of my head was taken after i towel dried my hair so its not 100% dry BUT like i said i was thinning up top. Proscar grew back a lot of hair for me, did wonders!

I have no doubt in my mind that i will need a 2nd procedure, and because you have pretty much hit the nail on the head with regards my hairloss, i will most certainly consult you in the future.

    Best to you.

  11. Honestly, I don't see why you even need Toppik.

I mean, I get it--I was a NWII and I've had 3,600 hairline grafts. Hair greed is real. But you have a NWI head of hair. You have a teenager's hair. Things can and do go wrong in hair transplantation, even with a pro like Feriduni. You could have poor growth and have a lower but pluggy-looking hairline. You could have loss in the donor area that doesn't recover. And on and on.

If everything goes well, then you'll look great. But if you do nothing, you'll also look great. Do yourself a favor a choose the option where you look great with no risk.

But how common is shockloss with a HT? 10-15% of patients?

I'm gonna be straight up with you, having surgery could be risky, you have really thick hair, matching the density of your native hair could be a challenge, 800-1,000 grafts simply won't match the density, this may cause the work to look unnatural, at the sametime shock loss could occur, this means that for a few months you may end up looking worse and hating yourself for having surgery, imagine people telling you that you're going bald, if this minimal amount of hairloss bugs you, think about it being worse, is that something you want to deal with?

If I were you personally, I would conceal my hairloss with a different hairstyle, what I did when I had minimal hairloss just temple recession, I would wear a faux hawk that would cover the temples slightly, I would blow dry and comb up my hair to give my hair more volume, it really looked phenomenal and nobody would ever think I had a hair problem. I think the risk outweighs the reward in your situation.

I'm not going to lower my hairline. I am going to fill in my temples and re-construct my overall frontal hairline. Thinning on the sides that totally changed my appearance. If i change my hair style you can notice my thinning areas even more. Tried it, not an option, but thanks.

    dude don't do it!!!!!!
But, i'm not happy any want my hairline back?

If you Think the pictures are bad, why dont you take some better pictures with the worst lighting conditions?

Part your hair exactly where you Think it is thin. Mark the areas you Think needs to be filled.

If you want our opinions, you need to show us exactly what is bothering you with your hair.

And if your bothered by the Way your hair looks at those 3 pictures you show, Then my friend you dont need a HT, you need proffesionel help.

Sorry to be so Honest But thats the truth.

Have you ever seen a HT in Real life?

I am willing to bet that you have not.

If you did, you would realise that what you Think could be fixed with your hair is 99 % imposible.

I am 100 % positive you Will end up regretting it if you go ahead with it.

This picture is before my HT with one of the best FUE docs in the world

It is taken with flash so my hair looks thicker than it really is.

No mental issues, i'm perfectly fine thanks. I am loosing my hair 15 years, believe it or not, but i am. I will try get better pics up when i get home. Looking at your pics is worrying,, but how common is that?

  12. Hey Guys,

I am booked in for FUE with Dr.Feriduini very shortly. Estimation is that i need between 800/1200 grafts to the front and temples. My hair loss is very minimal, i have to stress this. I can hide it with Toppik and have been for the last 4 years, but i am sick of doing it and would rather not have to. On my left side is where is worst. But, i have gaps and transplanted grafts would go in between. I guess what i am most stressed about is shock loss to my existing hair.

My hair is naturally thick and dark(no greys) and i am 37. My questions would be:

    - How common is shock loss?

    - Is there anyone else around with a similar situation?

    - Should i wait longer till my receding hairline gets worse?(i don't really want to wait)

    Thanks in advance!
