  1. Thanks for all the positive comments everyone! It really means a lot.

I have extremely coarse hair... borderline with horse hair. I use to hate it because my hair would never lay flat but, I guess its a good thing now.

I still see a few new sprouts here and there when I separate the hair.

Ive been using rogaine for 7-8 years. Ive never seen any new regrowth with it but, it has become so much of my routine just like brushing my teeth that I figure I might as well keep at it. Maybe its helping retain some native hair. Although now it is a little more difficult to apply to the areas where the native hair is vs where the transplanted hair is.

I wait 1 month and started applying it once a day at night. It cause more redness and because I was shaving my head down on a weekly basis it was really noticeable. I stopped applying until the hair started coming in between month three and four. Now im back to twice a day.

Immediately after surgery on started fin. A very small dose. I cut the 1.25 mg tablets into 4ths and took everyother day. Even at that small dosage I started getting sides after awhile. I stuck with it until month 4 and tossed them. After stopping fin it definitely through my hormones all out of whack for awhile. That was my second time trying it in the passed 8 years. Im done with it.

  2. Figure I would put my 4 month update online. Had quite an explosion of hair in the last month. The transplanted hair does grow quite a bit quicker than the native hair so ive been doing weekly trim ups myself. I'm hoping the direction of the hair will blend a bit better as it gets longer. Otherwise i'm stoked about my outcome already.

  3. Today marks my 1 month mark. All of the itchiness and dandruffness has subsided. I still have a very slight tenderness in the recipient area. But, nothing I ever think about.

Unfortunately, I wasnt one of the lucky ones who didn't shed. I would say Ive lost around 60-75%. I have been shaving my whole head down to a 0. I think that it blends better.

As a side note, and I know some people may not agree with this but, I have been using the tanning bed at the gym 2-3 times a week. I checked with Dr. Vories right after the procedure and he said I could tan after 2 weeks. I do think it helps blend the redness a bit. Like everyone else using rogaine does seem to irritate the recipient area and causes more redness.

  4. Here's my two week update for anyone who is watching. All of the scabs pretty much came off on day 7 when I showered. Everyday the redness seems to get a little better. I have been using a little Palmer's Jojoba / Vitamin E oil on the recipient and donor areas after I get out of the shower. When rubbing the oil on 10 hairs or so usually fall out. Recipient area has been pretty flakey recently which is quite annoying.

I work in a very highly lit area in the airport dealing with 1,000s of people a day but, just figured to hell with it and went back into work early even though my head is pretty goofy looking at the moment.

Probably going to shave my whole head down with a #1 after work today. Do you guys think it will look better or worse?

I also see quite a few 2's and 3's on the front row of my hairline. Should I be concerned?

  5. In the interest in giving back to the forum I figured I would post my updates on the forum.

A little history of myself... 29 and starting losing my hair around 22. Got on the minoxidil foam and have been religiously using it twice a day ever since. Ive never seen any new hair growth but, like to thing that its helping me keep what I have . Actually ive never seen any side effects good or bad from rogaine. I also use nizoral 1% twice a week and conditioner on the days in between.

I drove up to Dr. Vories location in Charleston SC yesterday from Tampa, Florida. Surgery started at 7am and we finished up around 330 pm with a half hour lunch in the middle. Every 45 minutes or so we took a 10-15 minute break so I could stretch my neck and the Doctors hands.

Dr. Vories and his two technicians were very professional and friendly. During surgery the only discomfort was the numbing medication which I would put on par with a bee sting and neck stiffness from laying in the same location.

After leaving Dr. Vories office I had around a 3-4 hour drive to my parents place in Carolina Beach where im resting for the next week and a half.

While at the office my head was numb the entire time but with in 20 min it started to wear off and I was feeling quite a bit of pain so I stopped at cvs and had the prescription for the pain and sleeping meds filled. Within 30 minutes the pain had subsided.

1st day post op and I have zero pain only itchiness in the donor area and pressure in the for head. I have been placing a ice pack on my forhead (careful not to touch graft area) every couple of hours. Ive been using the saline spray on the recipient area every hour.

Overall I feel everything went excellent. My greatest fear is the redness/purplness Ive seen some patients have all the way to 6-7 months out and want to minimize the likelyness at all cost. If anyone has anything they suggest im all ears.

The first picture is post op and all the others are from 1 day post op. Thanks!
