  1. Today is my 6 month anniversary since Dr. Kohler in Raleigh did mine.

I saw the dr last month and expressed concern that the top middle area does not show much growth compared to the front area. The front began real quick, two months after surgery. He said I have 1/2 inch growth in the middle top, just be patient and give it another 6 months.

One thing I have heard many times from co workers and friends is, that something looks different with me. They try to guess. Some say I like that you are wearing your hair longer.

I would say at least a dozen times I have heard that comment.

  2. Hair is looking fuller. Of course I am wearing it longer it hides the spots better than keeping it short. But there is a noticeable difference at this stage. The hair started growing in the frontal region first. Hard to tell how much is growing on the top, which is where I really need it.

  3. I have read blogs that say I am in the ugly duckling stage of hair tranplant.

I have attached a photo showing what appears to be a ring of growth around the frontal area. The hair is darker. I do not see this amount of growth any where else. Is common for a particular area to experience growth before other areas?

    Thanks

  4. I got my hair cut today at Great Clips. Early into the cut the hair dresser asks me if I was wearing a hat before coming in. I realized she asked because the hair is uneven where the incision was done March 4th.

So my question is, how long am I going to have let my hair grow out so there is no line? And will more healing time help disguise the area where the incision was done? I attached a pic. I had an #4 hair cut, they used a decent size attachment on their electric clipper.

  5. Most of the hair that popped up is gone, as expected. The skin around the transplant has a red tint still. I did not get a fabulous hair cut though. I went to Great Clips, and told them to keep the area around the ears and back area thick enough to hide the scar tissue. I was a bit shocked to see the line around the back of my ears where there was no hair. I will start going to an experienced barber from now on. I began using the foam based generic Rogaine too. The only other thing to report at 1 month is my impatience to have a thick top of hair!

  6. Day 7 of FUT. It has been a long week. Back of the head is sore from the back of the ears all the way around where the incision was made. You cannot see the incision. Scalp is itchy and sore. Tonight I have little hairs everywhere. How exciting! Went back to work on day 5 and you could see the red dots on the scalp and redness. A few noticed something but never inquired. I have not told anyone about the procedure and was planning on saying I had an allergic reaction! HA!. The second picture attached shows the top view after a week.

  7. I am 49 years old and have seen a significant thinning over the past 4 years.

This week I visited a clinic called Koher Center For Hair Restoration and was told for $9500 I can get the Strip FUT process to restore hair on the frontal mid scalp and crown.

I do not see many choices in North Carolina and was wondering if it is worth visiting other places for this procedure. I hear it is cheaper outside the U.S. and would like to hear from anyone that lives in the states that went elsewhere.

I probably will need to save up for the procedure and plan it for late 2016 so I have plenty of time to do ample research and choose a location.

    Thank you.
