In my experience the redness/pinkness lasted far longer than 2-3 weeks. It was more like 5 months. However, it was more pinkish than red at that point
Agreed - this has been my experience too.. Starting to normalize now (after the 20 week mark).

You certainly are coming out of the ugly duckling phase! 5800 grafts should make a mega difference. If the doc thinks that is as low as you are going to lose your hair on the sides, then you've got it made! You could probably get to look like you've never lost a single hair IMO.
Thanks - I certainly hope so... Time will tell, but I'm enjoying the progress to this point.

stardog,
I think your hair is looking great at 19 weeks! Looking at your pre-ops, you've already made a significant transformation and there's plenty more where that came from.
How are you feeling about it?
Thanks! I'm feeling pretty good about it... Of course I overanalyze the growth, but I have to keep reminding myself to be patient. Seems like the growth I have at this point happened overnight.

I've done a poor job of updating... I think I may be coming out of the 'ugly duckling' phase (fingers crossed). I'm pleased with the results thus far, but definitely looking forward to more hair growth over the next several months.
Take a look and let me know your thoughts! Thanks in advance as always!!!

I'm 3 weeks post op and still have pain in my donor area. It's not too bad but I thought by now it would be gone... When does it usually subside?
Let me pile on... Depends on the person, but like several others who replied, I'm also at roughly four months post op and feel occassional discomfort (numbness in some areas).
When I was at three weeks, I'll say I did feel 'pain' on occasion. I wouldn't worry much about it, you're still healing. Happy growing my friend.

Worst part for me was the incisions made to get the donor strip. Not so much the pain since you're all numbed up but the noise (I should have worn headphones!) and the thought of what was happening (I should have thought of my puppy!).
Waiting has my vote for being the most difficult part of the process... Although hair_me_out nailed it, hearing the strip removal (no pain) and visualizing it was a bit unnerving. That and the shots prior to are a very close second and third.

Nice - definitely looking forward to that place in time, good or bad!

No excuse, simply turned my attention to something else.
BTW - just had my staples taken out and posted a journal update with pics (link below on my signature, thanks to Bill).

Tsakalos - nice results on those pics... Great hairline.

chris2010 - The best advice is to do your research, look at before / after pics, talk to several different doctors etc.
Put yourself in the best position possible to make a well informed decision and you can't go wrong! Best of luck!

Great to hear J and congratulations!!! You are approaching this with he right attitude, which is sure to make your journey that much better! Happy growing my friend!

Thanks Bill - Yeah, I was in the process of updating that photo album and decided to start over.

It's on the main page of the blog, which I didn't link to
One session: 5,823 grafts 1 hair = 1879, 2 hair = 3585, 3 hair = 359. I have really good density / laxity in my donor area and my hair is coarse, which seems to help.

No worries rayj8 - I felt the same way the days leading up to my procedure... I'm sure you'll be thrilled with the results! Congrats and happy growing!

Before I had my transplant, I found myself looking for pics of others around the two week timeframe (was curious about scabs, redness etc). So here are some updated pictures 11 days post op... Let me know what you think.

I think it's a naked mole rat... But don't quote me on that.

Thanks AW33! I've got my fingers crossed!

So I scheduled my procedure with H&W... I must say that I feel like I am 5 years old on Christmas Eve! I will definitely share my before and after pictures week-by-week without fail.

Hi all -
First time poster, long time lurker... I've decided to make the leap and I'm hoping for some direction / advice. I've read a lot of postings on the forum regarding, but am curious if anyone has any additional comments feedback. Specifically interested in feedback regarding surgeons (who is the best, regardless of location) etc. I've been reading a lot about Hasson and Wong and while I'm not anxious to make that type of journey - I'm willing to if that produces the best results.
Thanks for advance for any support / guidance.

No worries - I've had several recently (weeks 19 and 20).
