Well, it's been exactly one year since my HT with Dr. Elliot, and as I posted about 6 months ago, I had tremendous shock loss. Prior to my HT I had enough hair that I could use the Couvre and style it and feel comfortable enough to be in public. Since my HT one year ago I have NEVER been out with out a hairpiece or a hat. It's a year later and I have less hair now than before the HT. The loss is too bad to cover up with the Couvre now too. At this point I was starting to consider the glue-on type of hairpiece (my current one clips on), but I started reading this forum again and see how unhappy the majority has been with it. But on the contrary, I have gone snorkeling and ride roller coasters with no problem with this clip on piece (4 clips). The reason I am (was) considering the glue on type is because I figured it would be easier to style while its on my head and my old one's seen better days anyway. Oh well, once again as I start reading this forum I start wondering about trying another HT...it's just all so sad...

I may have around 10% left, but that is pushing it.

Does this mean that if you(I) get 1000 grafts, you are lucky if 100 of them grow?

No, I'm just saying that no matter which doctor did the work, at 1 month all you have is a bunch of holes in your head. Time will tell if hair will grow, and I only say this at my 8 month mark of having less hair now than prior to the HT.

I just have to laugh at people giving the docs such kudos (including social) after a HT done only a month ago. Let us know if there is much to talk about or if it all fell out in 8 months time.

Check with your doctor first, you probably shouldn't use anything on the scar until it's healed longer. Once the doc gives you the go ahead, there is something called Couvre that you can get in a color to match your hair. I've never seen in in a store, but you can get it online everywhere.

I just called Elliots office to try and get the pics emailed. They said they don't have them on the computer anymore so I would have to scan copies to get them digital again... wouldn't come out too well.

You would need to have seen what my hair really looked like before to tell if the pics were accurate, unfortunately.

I had about 950 grafts all over top of head, though if I had known better I would have opted for just crown and front area. I had "enough" in the middle but he cut it to within 1/4 inch during transplant. Some of that fell out and came back and he's trying to tell me that's the new growth. If it were, why is it coming in somewhat gray and why didn't I get that kind of growth on crown and front area where there really were bald spots in the first place. A couple of the "before" pictures they took actually look like they were touched up to make it look like I had even less hair. I am so skeptical now.

I am not on any meds (I guess that's only for men, except the MSM? which I would like to know more about).

I feel like I have less hair now than before, but I guess I could be suffering from the "shock" that I've been reading about. I'm worried about having another transplant in fear of losing more. I didn't go back at the 5 month mark because I couldn't see any results.

So this is normal? I just got back from the doc and he says I've got all kinds of new growth, but I think it's just the stuff he cut, growing back. Plus, what has grown out has some gray in it. The donor area has never been gray, so it wouldn't grow in the transplanted area gray, right!!!???
