No such thing as a stupid question. I think its great that you are taking the time to talk to people about this situation now rather than later. I think you are too young at this point for a HT but I think its a good idea for you to start using preventative treatments. Scheduled an appt to see a Dermatologist, they can discuss your treatment options with you in more detail.

I think its a good idea to try the shaved look, but be careful this look is not for everyone. Not every has the right shaped head for that look.

I think FUE or Strip method could work for this case. Its hard transplanting into a scar in general but its worth having a consult.

It looks like you would be a good candidate for surgery, its hard to tell if the donor area is dense based on the photos. I think it would be a good idea to look into prevention methods like finasteride and rogaine. If you are having the issues with the Rogaine its best to discontinue. You should make an appt with a local Dermatologist and see what your options are. There is also a laser cap that could be very helpful as well. Make sure to do your research when looking for a HT Doc!

The pictures are not the best quality, but you are still young. I think you should start by seeing a Dermatologist in your local area, start with prevention before jumping right into a transplant.

I just asked Dr Haber and he suggested the 5000mcg twice a day.

This is the same dose that I've been taking for years now.

Honestly this depends on the physician, we do not make our patients shave their heads before a procedure. In my opinion this is a better option for the patient, although it may extend the length of surgery, but in the end the patients feel better after the procedure. Its important to the patient to feel as comfortable as possible, most patients keep this procedure secret and whatever we can do to help them with that is always appreciated.

I agree with Bill 100%, every physician is different but at our office we tell pt's at 8 days they can use the pads of their fingers and massage the area while shampooing the hair. Never use your nails!

The best advice anyone can give you is do research! Its so important to see what all your options are. There are medications you can use which can help hold onto the hair you still have. Its important to hold onto/slow down the progression of hair loss.

As far as a surgery I'm sure you would be a good candidate for either the strip technique or the FUE technique. This is where you'll have to do some further research on what is best for you.

Using the minoxidil in those areas will not do much for you, but you should look into seeing a Dermatologist and getting on Finasteride 1mg or 5mg (cut into 1/4).

Honestly I think you look great!

I would say to hold off till after 25, I dont think 6 months is enough time to give the Propecia/Finasteride enough time to work. Many patients at your age have had significant growth from the oral medication treatments and I think you should give it at least a year or two before making that decision. As far as the minoxidil solution vs foam, many patients state the foam is less irritating and easier to apply. We always recommend the 5% foam for that reason.

As far as Botox goes I love it! If the wrinkles on your forehead bother you then go for it! We have a lot of male patients that receive botox in our office and they love it, esp in the forehead and crows feet area.

I Agree I think going with the medication route first is the better option. You are young and Sean is right you don't want to go through a procedure to later regret it.
