Great news Johnny and glad to see it's going well. Sadly mine with HDC has been poor a second time round, I'm 7 months in and have noticed minimal difference. Current in Turkey and when I went for a Turkish shave the barber there knew and asked if I had had a hair transplant done! Not great for the confidence and obviously it was noticeable. Time to hunt for a different surgeon for the future. Keep growing matey! Greg.

That's absolutely amazing. I'm very happy for you Bob. Enjoy the new life plagued by bad hair days (in a good way!). All the best.

Hey Johnny, how you doing mate?
I'm seeing some excellent growth in my crown area and hairline and have been on Fin for about 2 weeks now. Taking 1mg every 3 days and no noticeable sides so far - going real slow.
Get some pics up sonny jim!

Looks really good, you must be over the moon so far!
-
Wow amazing and congrats mate.
I can only hope mine turns out in a similar fashion.
Good luck for the future.

I think you're going about it the right way Greg. My advice would be to start on something like 0.25mg or 0.5mg, two or three times per week. Then maybe every one to two months, very gradually up it, assuming no sides are evident.
Personally, I started out 4 years ago on 1.25mg daily. Looking back, I would have started on something along the lines of what I suggested to you. For two years I didn't notice a thing, but then I started noticing sides. This could very well have had something to do with another drug I was on for my skin - Roaccutane. Either way, since then I have changed my dose to 1.25mg every MWF, then to 0.5mg daily 5 months ago......and now I'm thinking of coming off it for a while just to give my body a rest from it. Thinking of going on Nettle Root for a bit to still keep some anti-DHT stuff in my system.
Really appreciate the advice thanks mate. Yes like I mentioned I another thread we've both taken Accutane and the sides from that can be very extreme. I was left with lingering joint pain for 3 years after I finished the drug! Never fully recovered.
I'll speak to my GP about a low dose and will get some blood work done first too.
Not heard much about the nettle root. Is it a proven effective treatment? I'm going to try S5 cream too. Thanks bud.

Thanks guys. I do expect a mixed response and a few more would be helpful. It's a really tough choice for me. I guess a low dose trial can't hurt can it?

Hi all
Right, I am 31 years of age and over the last 18 months have now had two hair transplants (FUE) with approximately 3,000 grafts at the hairline and frontal third and approx. 900 for the crown. My last procedure was in October so awaiting the results of course as early days.
I have been using Regaine Foam for over 2 years now and I believe it has helped. It started regrowing a little hair at my temples before the first HT. I have also been using RegenePure DR twice a week, taking Wellmans Trichology tablets and also on 320mg Saw Palmetto capsule a day for two months. I also take Green Tea Extract.
Now the big question, do I take Fin? I am PETRIFIED of the potential side effects because I had a bad experience with a drug called Roaccutane which left me with some lingering long term joint pain amongst other things.
However, I appreciate I should look to take Fin if I realistically want to halt my hairloss and maintain what hair I have left. I have ordered S5 cream (6 month supply) and was going to try this first.
Any suggestions and help would be most appreciated. I did consider maybe a small dose of 0.5mg every other day to ease myself in gently for a couple of months and then up to 0.5mg ED.
Help.
Thanks
Greg

If you find nanogen or toppik doesn't bind easily or falls on the scalp by the hairline, please give Caboki a try mate. Honestly I have all three and normally apply Toppik to crown and Caboki to hairline. It looks great and holds all day.
-
Revita and RegenePure DR here.
-
I use Caboki because it is natural and binds to the hair more strongly, apparently, due to different charge. It's expensive but a truly brilliant product.

4 weeks is a good amount of time for redness to die down!
Looking good here Hairman. I'm similar to you on surgery date so will be interesting to see how we both pan out. Good luck pal.
-
Looks damn good matey. Keep us posted and here's to a damn epic 2014!
-
That is pretty poor there's no two ways about it.
I know what you mean about hair growing at a funny angle compared to your native hair too mate. That's what's happened to mine and it's damn frustrating.
-
Hi
Sorry mate I cannot help you as I've always been too petrified to take it, but will be interested in hearing the results from this too.
I'm tempted to take a small does every 3 days and see what happens.
I'd say go for it if you're feeling ok so far. You might not even need to increase your current dosage.
Good luck

Terrible.
Haha, only kidding Greg.....you pull it off from the front anyway! Any other angles?
And regarding the timeline.......am I right in saying your second op was 2 months after your first? It's just quite unusual to see such a quick turnaround for another procedure.
Lol thanks mate! I do have a round end and no odd bits here or there so I think it looks alright. Buzzed heads look much better when there is actually a hairline there!
No sorry my first operation was in August 2012, my bad.
-
MASSIVE DIFFERENCE GREG!
especially when the hair is at a short length
all you needed is to beef it up, which you just did
any pics post-op DAY 1-2 of your HT 2?
did they change the hairline or transplant within HT 1 ?
Hi mate
Please see below for new thread following HT2.
http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?p=2376987&posted=1#post2376987
I'll keep that one alive from now on and updated with progress pics.
They didn't change the hairline as I am happy with it, but density behind it was definitely needed so they planted around 336 triple grafts and 14 quads there.
Thanks
G

Hi all
Following on from my thread here detailing the first transplant I had in August 2012
I underwent my 2nd procedure on 31st October 2013. I wanted greater density behind the hairline as there was a transparent effect under bright lighting and it needed a density boost!
Being honest, Dr Maras agreed he should of used the 300 grafts from the first transplant in the hairline/front rather than the crown area. I persuaded him to use some in the crown area the first time so my fault !
However, I also wanted the crown treated with greater density this time round too as in the end I had 1,016 grafts split as follows:
Single 205
Double 461
Triple 336
Quads 14
Total 1016
The FUE surgery was performed over one day.
All the triple and quad grafts were planted at the front (350 grafts so 1,066 hairs) and the remaining grafts into the crown (1,122).
I'm hoping for some good results here and with my hair retention regimen hold off any further HT work for a few years unless really needed.
My regimen is:
- RegenePure DR Shampoo - twice a week
- Regaine Extra Strength Foam - twice a day
- Regaine Extra Strength Liquid - applied at night with foam
- Wellman Man Trichology Tablets
- Green Tea Extract Tablets
- Just ordered some S5 Topical Cream for night time application
So, here are the photos pre-op :
and immediately post-op......
- RegenePure DR Shampoo - twice a week

The manual extractions are so good. Dr. Maras is one of the few FUE doctors along with Bisanga who does both extractions and incisions by himself. I respect that a lot. Im sure you will have a great result. You are going to have a great hairline and soon a great crown in the future. Keep posting Buddy.
Yes he does and that gives you a lot of confidence. The technicians are great too. The entire team at HDC are brilliant.
-
Hope things are going well for you mate.
-
A high forehead might hurt mate and affect your aesthetic appearance, but honestly do wait for a few years. You have a great head of hair. Stay on the Fin and regain if all OK re sides and halting loss and take your time. Who knows what medical advances there might be in 5 years time even with Stem cell research etc.

Johnny
Blooming hell mate we're similar ! Both 31 and past experience of Roaccutane (I was on it for 12 months in 2006-2007) and I definitely think it had a huge impact on my hair.
Been reading through your entire thread, great results so far buddy and I bet you can't wait for the next few months.
Really wishing you all the very best matey.

Also, I do have a pretty significant issue with my hairline.
The single grafts that HDC implanted grow in direct contrast with my native and other implanted hair behind the hairline. They grow vertically and to the left. This is very frustrating re styling as I ideally wanted to brush my hair forward and cover up the hairline if you understand what I mean. This is near impossible to do now.
If the density was thicker behind it wouldn't be so much of a problem but as there is the transparent effect it makes things more noticeable. Not sure if this will ever change or I just need to accept it.

Hi, will update when home. Not really the results I was after. Going to consider other surgeons in the future for sure.
