  1. Hey guys-- It's been a long time since I posted here, I apologize. However I heard that my lack of response might have sparked some negative ideas so I thought I would drop a line in this thread.

As you can all see my growth was going great, however, with the great growth I continued to recede behind the line of which the transplant was done and therfore 2 years into it, with a great hair line that Dr. Maras made me, the overall look of my hair was not very good and therefore I stopped posting.

I must say that the growth from this specific operation was great and I was so happy with the results that I returned two weeks ago to do a second operation at HDC, an addtional 1000 grafts were placed behind my hairline. I will keep everyone posted with the final results.

  2. Thanks for those pictures!!! Your 2 month picture looks just like me at 2 months so I'm very hopeful that my 4 month mark will look similar.

If your 2 months looks like mine AND we have the same name; I don't see any reason why it shouldnt ;)

Quick tip, try to forget about it and not occupy yourself all day with it! The first month didnt move, bu I swear, I feel like I got my transplant 2 weeks ago and its been 4 months! Time flies.

  3. Hey,

Sorry have been very busy with work lately!

I am 2 months + 1 week post op. Have been seeing the same growth as mentioned before, not sure if it has improved or the hairs just got longer and gave the illusion that theres more hair. Either way, waiting a few more weeks to start seeing the serious growth begin. Time flies!!!

Sorry for the crappy pictures. No camera.

  4. Just about on the 1 1/2 Month mark. Not much has changed since the 1 month, the shock loss in recipient area has calmed a bit. The transplanted hairs that were growing continues to grow, and now I have a few single hairs just sticking out on my new hairline.

Overall, I experienced quiet a bit of shock loss in recipient area and am now in a very ugly ducking phase. Will have better pictures on the 2 month update.

    Comments?

  5. Normal!! Pink and pretty hairless!!! All good mate, it's part of the long process!!

Thanks for the reassurance. I would say about 5-10% of the implanted hairs are still there, some are not growing and some seem to have grown since the implant.

Kind of hard to cover up properly, have already had some people point out that my forehead is pink, and someone even saw the stubby hairs on my forehead and attributed it to a bad haircut? ;)

Hopefully soon either the rest will shed or more will grow. Ugly duckling in full force

  6. Sorry guys I was away for two weeks.

Quick update: I am just a few days past my 1 month mark.

I would say that about 85-90% of the transplanted hairs have shed. I had about a week that a lot of the hairs shed all of the sudden, but now I maybe see 1-2 hairs shed every time I shower. I also see like small parts of hairs like piece of black hair but too short to be a whole transplanted hair, not sure what these are.

Most of the hairs that have not shed have not grown either, so I assume that they will also shed at some point.

I have been having some serious shock loss behind the recipient area that has yet to settle or slow down. I plan on starting Rogaine in the next few days (once a day) and see how that goes.

My hair is a mess I just got off a longgg few flights, but...

Heres a quick picture, will post more tomorrow:

    Ugly duckling phase: begin.

  7. So it's been 2 weeks since my HT at HDC, I haven't lost any grafts (I assume since I did not experience any bleeding in the recipient area) and my grafts are starting to shed. According to all the research my grafts are now "secure."

So now my question; what will, or has already affected my graft survival rate? And is there anything I can do now that will harm my grafts?

Please don't say smoking or drinking alcohol as there is no proof that this affects the grafts...

    Thank you!

  8. Here is a 10 day update:

All scabbing (except for where I had an injury before surgery) are completely gone, no redness...the hair is growing. Want it to shed already as my native hair is not long enough to cover it :(

I have been experiencing some shedding of native hair which I have no had pre-op. Not sure if this is attributed to transection or shock loss.

I had a small touch up done on the front of the hairline 3 days ago (added 22 grafts to fix something I wanted), and therefore you may see a few small dots on the last picture.

I just want the scabbing to fall off from where my injury was as I am a bit worried it is slowing the growth and can potentially harm the grafts.

    More updates soon! :)

Quick update: So in my second shower today I shed about 10 of my transplanted hair. Right on schedule! :) Goodbye temporary hairline!

  9. Dr. Maras and Dr. Bisanga are the only two FUE doctors I know that do all the punching and incisions (recipient holes) themselves.

Yea, it's quiet impressive. Also the technicians are all very experienced and have worked with top surgeons before which is why I trusted them with the extraction and placement blindfolded (not literally.) :P

I'd also like to give credit to Dr. Yiannis Voskos, who is also a surgeon at the clinic and he is the one who administered my anesthesia and was a great part of making my experience calm and comfortable! In the beginning I was a bit worried that there are many hands on board and now I'm convinced that this has many advantages to having 1 doctor perform the whole operation on his own.

  10. Work looks great, HDC are a solid FUE clinic within Europe and i am sure you will achieve a nice result.

How involved was Dr Maras in your operation?

Dr. Maras did all of the graft punching and a few of the extractions, and made all the recipient holes. Placement was done by technician. I honestly felt very comfortable with the team.

I will be at Cyprus on 30 June as my surgery will be on July 1. Are you going to be there by that time? Hope we could meet :D

Unfortunately I'm flying home on the 28th. Glad to see another forum member choosing Maras. You will be in great hands!

  11. Thanks guys, appreciate it! I will be going tomorrow for a checkup with Dr Maras. I must say that I'm very impressed with HDC's aftercare. Even during the holiday weekend a technician came twice a day to shampoo my head and apply cream to donor area, and both of the patiebt coordinators have been amazing with helping me out way beyond the norm! May the results be as amazing as my experience so far!

    Will post a 1 week update :)

  12. 4 Day post op:

(Not black on forehead is a bruise from post op and I was told would not affect growth)

Also, you can see that on the focused area (center hairline) there is a bit lower density which I was told was due to me still having some native hair there. The sides are much more dense though, thoughts?

Overall I'm happy with the healing
