  1. Shortly after I started my finasteride regime my left ankle became unusually soar. Every time I stood up after sitting or sleeping it would hurt when I walked. I thought it might be the finasteride but the pain has since gone away. I really have no idea what the cause of the pain was but I think many of us jump to the conclusion that any changes in our bodies are side effects from medications. In short, yes I've experienced pain in certain joints/muscles after taking finasteride, but can't be sure that the medication was the cause. My hair does look better though!

  2. I can only speak based on my experience. Those areas on my scalp that were spreading completely disappeared after a couple of days. I was applying vitamin e oil during that phase so that may have helped the healing a bit.

Bonaparts, after you get through the scalp spreading you get to experience the fun of the shedding phase!!! The first few weeks are not that fun man. Hang in there!

  3. SMP will only help if he shaves down. If he cut his donor to a guard 3,4 or 5 there will still be noticeable 'step' where the hair is devoid... Everyday I grow more and more cynical of FUT...

Mickey you are growing more and more cynical because you had a bad FUT procedure. You're comments are completely biased and not fair to the many FUT patients on this forum who are seeking helpful information. Have you actually had an FUE procedure?

  4. If you are staying at the Sheraton and on a budget I would suggest eating elsewhere and don't consume anything they have available for you in the room. I drank two bottles of water thinking they were free and ended up being charged $9! There are plenty of good inexpensive restaurants on Davie street just a couple of blocks away from the hotel. Vancouver has some of the best sushi! Good luck with everything.

  5. I'm certainly no expert but I'm on day seven after a 5300 graft FUT procedure and I have a pretty scabbed up head. My clinic advised me that, after day five or six, I should start shampooing normally and work the scabs off using a circular motion with my fingers then run luke warm water over my scalp for 10-15 min for several days. They said most patients are much too careful during this phase and it's possible that pimples and other complications may develop if you don't encourage the scabs to come off. No picking dry scabs with finger nails though! I also apply vitamin E oil after showering both morning and evening. So far so good!

  6. I had the same question before my HT, which I had done last week. I let my hair grow to about an inch but the doc said if I am able to wear a hat for several weeks to hide the staples it would be much easier for him and the techs if he buzzed my head before the procedure. I would just let your doc buzz you because he may want to see your hair a bit longer to assess your situation. Or call him and see what he has to say. Good luck!
