  1. I have never had a HT but i have had experience using both.

I was initially using minoxidil for over year with good results. However my results really improved once i was on finasteride. So from my own personal experience i would use both to get the best out of both products. The big 3 is my regime.

Obviously results vary from person to person.

    Hope that helps.

  2. Hi been on this routine (1.25 every 5 days) for almost a year now and thankfully no sides and got some good results. I was thinking to take the same dosage but on every Tues and Thur weekly instead of my normal 5 days.

Anyone think it would you think it will make much difference? Sides should be no change as i had no problem so far?

    Any advice would be welcome.

  3. Really sorry to hear about that mate :(

I use the big 3 and have had good results so i guess i am one of the lucky ones. I dont think you have done anything wrong in being proactive but personally i would stick with the brands that you know people use and tested.

Minoxidil - Regain foam 2 times a days

Finasteride - Doctors prescription cut proscar into quarters, once every 5 days

ketoconazole shampoo - Regenepure or Revita, twice a week

If your considering taking finasteride i would definitely recommend talking to your doctor as results vary from person to person.

    Hope it works out

  4. Hi

Currently using Keto shampoo Regenepure every 2nd wash and using a very mild non sulphate shampoo inbetween days and getting good results.

    ie

    Mon - Keto

    Wed - Mild Shampoo

    Fri - Keto

    Sun - Mild shampoo

    etc etc

Unfortunately my particular brand of "mild Shampoo" has stopped production :( and i wont be able to get any more.

Anybody got any good suggestions of a mild non sulphate shampoo that i can use in conjunction with Keto (Regenepure).?

    Cheers

  5. Hi

Been reading quite a few threads with people using only 0.25mg of finasteride daily

I have been contemplating using proscar for over a year, My GP even gave me a prescription but never got the courage to even try it :(

What would be a good way to approaching this, ie precautions, or blood work etc?

Also if i got a 5mg Proscar tablet, how to prepare? i was thinking cut to quarters (1.25mg) and take it once every 5 days?

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  6. Hi

Been using lipogaine for around 3 months now was just wondering how you guys coped with the effects after it dries.

The hairs feel quite stiff (like gel or mousse), also sometimes it does leave a white coating on the hair? Does anyone else experience this?

    Cheers

  7. You will be hard pushed to find it cheaper than 40GBP unless you opt for the Kirkland Generic Foam. The latter will be 5-10GBP cheaper for 3 tins (ebay).

Hi Matt - last i heard did you switch to the generic foam, notice any difference to the Branded R stuff?

    Cheers

  8. 4.5 months on.

I think that all the hair that's likely to regrow is regrowing.

Wow matt that really impressive, comparing your first photos when you were 14 weeks in, it a real difference. Is that foam all over or only at specific areas?

I have been on Lipogaine (liquid) am and alternating with generic (Spectral UHP Pm) for around 5 - 6 weeks, hopefully get similar results :D

Did you get any shedding at all? Having never used it i had loads, hopefully it will fill back. Also are you doing anything against DHT?

    Thanks for sharing.

  9. Hi

Was wondering if anyone out there that has used Minoxidil for a extended period of time. ie 5 -10 years + could help?

From reading a number of sources and forums , there conflicting info on how effective minoxodil is in the long term.

Some say it effectiveness decreases over time as your body could become resistant to it's effect in the long run while others gain even more hair before they started and continued to maintain it.

Could someone please clarify or share their experiences?

    Cheers

  10. Regenepure DR twice a week instead of Nizoral shampoo. I think its a big mistake to use Ketaconazole daily, its recommended at all medically. Even Nizoral company warns against it.

    Hi

I was thinking along the same lines been on my regiment for around 5 weeks and i am using Regenepure every 2nd day. Main area that i treat is the crown vertex area with minoxidil (lipogaine +microneedle).

Query is i dont know if i am imagining this but i notice that overall hair volume seems to be thinner all round (not just crown) as i having been shedding like crazy.

Is this the result of using Regenepure DR too much and should i not use it on the other areas that are ok?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

  11. Sorry to hijack the thread, I am in the same situation too, i was going to wait to see if minoxidil alone would help but i guess that going to take a few months,

but also contemplating on finasteride. I was going along the lines of carefully monitoring and trying out but not so sure :(

Btw i read that i should get blood work done? i have a GP appointment soon so not sure what i should be asking? Is it checking DHT level or something else?

    Cheers

  12. Does anyone know roughly how long the shedding phase lasts? Hair definitely way thinner in the crown than before i started. Still cant help being concerned even though i know this is normal.

Only thing keeping me going is the success stories i been reading.

Btw read a lot of good stuff with Rogaine foam, i thought the liquid stuff would be better because it penetrates better to the skin?

    Thanks for any advice .

    Cheers

  13. Hi

New to the forums so apologies if posting to the wrong topic.

Can anyone tell me how the friends system work on these forums? Can see you can add friend by selecting a name from the drop down list but it comes back "you dont have permission to do this task" ?

    Thanks

  14. Hi Everyone

New to the forums here, and apologies for another 100th Minoxidil shedding thread.

    My Background

I am 36 and have been losing hair for the last 5 years or so. It been really tough as i had to finally admit that i was getting older and had to accept that I was losing my hair. This was a good thing as this first step allowed me to overcome denial which then enable me to think what can I try, to at least do something about this. I am normally a very confident guy, particularly around people but lately really had my confidence shattered and very conscious about my hair because of my treatment.

I'd say i am a norwood 2. I have a double crown and the area around it is thinning a little which then made me decide that i was going to do something this before it gets any worse.

    Treatment

I have done a lot of research and seen my local GP a few times before making my mind on what i was going to try. CEDeoudes59 has a superb website which helped immensely and currently using his recommended regime.

Minoxidil - Currently using Lipogaine am and Spectral.UHP pm daily. Using in combination with azelaic acid 20% cream every other day. This should topically help increase blood flow and disperse DHT.

Microneedle - every 2nd day to help better delivery of minoxidil.

Ketoconazole - using regenepure shampoo to help clean scalp and also do something about DHT.

(Considering taking Finasteride as well but don't want to rush into this one. Was thinking to at least try it?)

I am almost 4 weeks into my routine and i originally had slight thinning around the double crown (vertex right?) area. Over the course, i have shed quite a bit of hair, particularly after washing with Ketoconazole shampoo and having done my homework i realise this is part of the process but nethertheless i can't help being very distressed.

Unfortunately my crown area that was a little thin, is now very thin and quite noticeable, not quite bald but it getting there. I know this can last quite a few more months but at this rate despite armed with knowledge, still finding it difficult to relax :(

Seen many good videos from CEDeoudes59 that confirm this is normal and nothing to be worried about. Read lots of great articles too particuarly this one http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/148765-shedding.html which has been very helpful.

Living over here the UK there is very little support about androgenic alopeci, particualrly with the NHS. My doctor has been supportive but i get the feeling i know a bit more about treatment and understandbly he has to deal with much more important, serious matters.

I guess i am pretty depressed and feel really uncomfortable and embarressed to talk about this particularly to close friends and family. I think a few has noticed but are thoughtful enough to not comment.

Having spent a few hours around here, this community seems to be the right place for getting support. There is not many place in the uk where you can talk anonymously to someone who both understands and is familiar with the situation without them trying to sell you something.

Anyway thanks for reading and apologies for book. Writing this has helped get this off my chest.

Any help or advice on shedding would gratefully appreciated.

    Kind Regards

    Kyo
