  1. @Dreambig-

Wow!! I can't even believe you're the same person in the first photo! It's a phenomenal transformation and you must be over the moon! Super happy for you!!

Do you have a photo of your scar area too?

Thanks for your comments mate. I shall endeavor to take a photo of the back of the head in the near future and will post.

I currently have the sides and back cut around a number 3 or 4 guard and there is no sign of the scar whatsoever. Dr Rahal did an awesome job all round!

  2. Don't worry as I had the same problem but Dr Martinick is able to do something called DFU where she enhances density by doing double follicles. Honestly she has been terrific and is the only one that was able to convince me to go ahead. Dr Path is good but because of his staff is limited in what he can do.He does not do doubles and once again his staff do most of the work. I don't think you would be disappointed with him but you would not get the density Dr Martinick can achieve.

Haha! Tom139, could you make it anymore obvious that you are Dr. Martinick herself or one of her associates?

Johnny please don't be fooled by what Tom is telling you.

Just let me tell you now that you've been warned be myself and others on here. You are playing russian roulette if you have surgery here in Australia. The risk isn't worth it.

Go to Canada/US if you are serious about achieving a good result. Check out my blog and you'll see the results I had with Dr Rahal.

  3. Thanks everyone for your comments thus far! Like I said I'm very happy with how everything is tracking and pleased I decided to take the plunge and have my surgery- has definitely been life changing. It's now been 6 months since I've worn a hat :D

Much congratulations and thanks has to go out to Dr. Rahal and his team- they were brilliant in every step of the journey and I implore anyone who is considering having a HT to at least touch base with Dr Rahal.

  4. Looks awesome Capelli, great result! I'm sure you're over the moon!

Question- have you had issues (first world problems now we have hair:D) with styling etc because the transplanted hair is so thick? Not that I'm complaining, but just wondering if you've found a way to work around this? Any products you use?

  5. Thanks for your response. If you don't mind me asking what is your basis that there is no quality HT surgeons in Australia? Not trying to have a go just curious have you had experience with these surgeons or know someone who has?

What am I looking at costwise roughly if I decide to travel to see one of the above surgeons? Thanks

It all comes down to research. Look at the Australian surgeons results and then compare them to H&W or Dr. Rahal. They don't even come close to the level or artistry, density and technique of H&W and Dr. Rahal.

Then look through all the comments about H&W, Rahal etc from former patients and I had been researching for a good 2-3 years and was hard pressed to find a bad word written about those two clinics. On the contrary it wasn't hard to find bad comments in regards to the so called 'top' Australian surgeons.

The final cost will of course depend on how many grafts you receive. But from memory I think Dr. Rahal is about $4 or $5 per graft and H & W are about the same. Check their respective websites as they should tell you all you need to know in regard to pricing etc. They both also give a 10% discount to non-Canadians to help with travel expenses. Then you have the price of the return flight which is about $1300-$1500 to the US.

When I had my procedure done I had a 2 week holiday in LA/Vegas before going to Ottawa and having my surgery. Then stayed 3 nights post-op in Ottawa before continuing my holiday in NYC & Washington for another 10 days.

  6. Hello everyone,

I think the problem is solved. Here are the pictures of my scar just moments before Dr. Rahal excised the donor strip for my second sugery last week(May 29th, 2012). It is hard to believe that just 11 months ago, Dr. Rahal excised a strip that yielded 5604 grafts and healed with this incredible scar.

That is incredible mate! I also had my surgery performed by Dr. Rahal about 5 months ago and I'd love to see what my scar looks like shaved down. I struggle to find it at the moment! :D He is a true master of this HT caper!

  7. Hi everybody,

I am considering having a hair transplant done with Dr Jennifer Martinick of the new hair clinic, I had a consultation there and came out feeling pretty positive about the whole thing. However after doing some research have heard some less than flattering remarks about her.

I am a strong advocate of not believing everything you read/hear, your more likely to write about a bad experience than a good one. I do however if possible want to be fully educated before making this big decision. So anyone who has had this procedure done by her, or knows someone that has would you recommend her?

I am 23 years old and am a Norwood III according to them. This will be to restore the temples and frontal hairline. I am based in Perth where her office is so distance wise this is convenient for me. Any response will be greatly appreciated, thanks :)

Mate I'm from Australia and had a HT performed in Canada about 5 months ago. I absolutely implore you to save your money and buy that plane ticket and have your HT performed by a reputable surgeon in the US or Canada.

There is NO and I repeat, NO quality HT surgeons in Australia at present.

This surgery will be a life changing event, either in a good or bad way. If you get the surgery performed in Australia you will more than likely see it as the latter.

My tip for you is to continue saving your money, do some thorough research (a good year or so) and do not choose a surgeon based on convenience or personality. Choose them solely on results and reputation.

The only 3 surgeons/clinics I even considered to have my HT with were Hasson & Wong (Canada), Dr. Feller (New York) and Dr. Rahal (Canada). I eventually went with Dr. Rahal in Canada and I'm extremely happy with my results. The three aforementioned all have great reputations and have the results to back it up.

Let me state for the record that you have been warned, don't make the mistake many people make of choosing a HT surgeon because it is close proximity or it is cheap. Then they complain they have less than desirable results.

    Regards,

    DreamBig

  8. Looks awesome so far Capelli! Very happy for you mate. It's going to be one killer head of hair once its all grown out! Another happy Rahal patient :D

And to everyone out there, like Capelli said, you MUST at least consider Rahal, I too had my surgery with him and have nothing but great things to say and the experience from A to Z was seamless.

Cheers to his special magic growing juice ;)

  9. Thanks everybody for your comments so far. :)

And yes I agree the pics aren't of the best quality. But I can assure you the results are in person as they appear in the photos.

If I get a chance over the weekend I'll take some better pics (inside/outside lighting etc) and post them in my blog.

I think I've been lucky with the amount of growth up to this point but I would also like to point out that I've stuck to the pre and post operative care regimen recommended by Dr. Rahal 100% throughout the whole process.

I even went as far as sleeping upright until the day I had the sutures out, thus giving me no chance of coming into contact with the grafts or dislodging them. Also didn't touch the grafts until after 14 days and then when washing was super gentle.

  10. Bro, you on any meds? Just wondering. How old are you?

Hi there, yes I'm currently on Proscar 1.25mg daily and apply Rogaine Foam twice daily. Also take a mens multivitamin.

Haven't had any side effects from the Proscar whatsoever.

I had stabilised my loss before having surgery through use of Proscar. Only started using Rogaine foam 14 days after surgery as recommended by Dr. Rahal.

I was 26 when I had the surgery and will turn 27 later this year.
