Some lucky people are ahead of you at this stage but this is the exception not the rule. Looks like you are on track.

I would jump on fin and minoxidil asap. That should stabilize loss and you may be one of the lucky ones to get some regrowth. When in a few years and you decide to get a ht then you'll need less grafts/procedures than if you do nothing now.
-
I think it varies person to person my friend. I tried after one month and it was too sensitive while I've read others are ok with it at that stage. I couldn't use it for nearly three months in the end. If it is still really red I'd personally say it's a bit too soon.

I agree this is insane. Many people have not even started growth by this stage. You look like you are at the eight month mark!

Get on fin now and save up for a year or so. Bigger budget equals better choice

Fair enough but the vast majority have no side effects with oral fin and if the topical version was as effective I'm guessing most people would switch to it. Taking a tablet is less hassle and less messy too. Topical will also enter the bloodstream to some degree according to experts. Anyway, good luck with your regimen!

Your best bet is similar to Ian's advice. Wait a year and save so you can use the above rated clinics. If you go for a cheaper option now and there is a good chance the result will be poor ironically costing you more in the long term.

Keep at it.
For what it's worth I'd try oral finasteride to see if you can tolerate any sides.

I was thinking of going to Bisanga or H and W but I reckon I'll give these a go!

I was 42 when I had my ht Dean. I had been losing hair since my early 20's and I was thinking about hairloss all the time which wasn't healthy. I researched on this forum for a few years before pulling the trigger and going to Rahal in Canada. Flying from the uk I was so nervous. Now although I may need a second ht it was the best thing i ever did. Just annoyed that I didn't get it sooner and on the meds earlier too. No ht is guaranteed but by doing plenty of research and choosing a decent doctor you give yourself the best chance of success.

If you have no more growth or thickening up from now i still think this is a very good result from your starting point.

Yes I'm on dutasteride for 1 year, fin for 6 months before that. Hopefully I don't lose much ground.
If you don't mind me asking what dosage dutasteride are you taking? Did you notice any sides that you didn't have on fin? Thanks

I didn't think about laxity pre fut with Rahal in 2012 and it was never mentioned in the consultations I had with any Dr. After the ht Rahal said I had a fairly tight scalp and said if I needed another he would only contemplate fue. The donor/scar area didn't clear of all numbness for well over a year so I'm thinking it could be down to tightness - who knows!

Hasson & Wong is my preferred choice right now because of their reputations with crowns. I'm a huge Dr Feller fan though and would definitely go back if it was a hairline procedure - Dr. Bloxham seems to be doing great work. Since I've been active on these boards again there have been so many new names with big reputations - would be great if I could stay closer to the UK and get a quality crown surgeon.
Thanks Melvin.
Would you still suggest getting the scar filled in even if you wear your hair a bit longer? Interesting to hear your thoughts on FUE considering all the huge FUE cases on the boards these days.... thanks for your reply.
Thanks. Have you tried the laxity exercises? Did you lose laxity after the FUT or was it always bad?

Like others have said if your laxity is good for fut again. Unfortunately mine is not so when I have a second its fue.

Two strip surgeries in two days? Wow - you must have some amazing scalp laxity going on!

Hi Lee. I would give minoxidil foam a go. The combination of that and fin thickened up my crown a bit and I was in my late forties. Have to persevere for at least a year though.
-
When to use it after a HT depends on each person. Most clinics say from two weeks onwards is ok. I couldn't use it for two months as the recipient area was too sensitive for the foam.

Hi Wicky. From posts on here over time I would say dutasteride four times a week is excessive as long term side effects are not known. Personally I take finasteride 0.5mg six days a week with dutasteride on the seventh day.

Hi all. Apologies if this question has appeared before. I hear some say Propecia and Finasteride work the same with just the brand name being the difference. Others say Propecia works better than the generic version. What is the reality and has anyone tried both and had different results? Thanks in advance.

I had 3400 grafts by rahal and at 2.5 months all i had was substantial shockloss. Growth didn't start until 4 month mark
-
I would wait myself. Most surgeons say 2 weeks as scalp can still be sensitive.I had to wait 2 months before use due to sensitive scalp, everyone is different though.

I had an Fut with Rahal and i have a tight scalp. When i saw him 9 months later he recommended fue if i needed a next time to reduce risk of scar stretching

4 months? Most people are lucky to see any growth at this point. If no growth in another 4 months then come back!
