  1. Its been about 5 months post ht.,,any updates??

Hi I'll update with some pics shortly however not much going on had another hair cut to keep things neat, hair is defiantly getting more thicker on top I've had to start combing my hair in the mornings again man it's been a while ! :D

  2. mm015 I had the same concerns as yourself, the initial healing process, scabbing, reddening etc. does take a few weeks to clear (although everyone has their own healing timeframe).

I work in consulting so I spend most of my time infront of blue chip clients, turning up for a meeting with a strawberry head wasn't going to fly.

What I did was cut my short before the procedure (but within the timeframe given by Dr. Demirsoy and not too short as per Dr. Demirsoy instructions). This way people at work got used to me in short hair.

I then took 3 weeks off work, in that time my hair in the donor area had grown, scabs had gone but there was still some redness around the donor area, sheading of hair had begun.

When I got back to work noone noticed I had a HT done, barring the redness which subsided over a few weeks I had pretty much the same short hair I left with.

Growth is a slow process and in the 4 months since my HT I've had 3 "blade2" hair cuts to keep hair normalised so again people don't really notice, unless you compare pictures, but the growth for me I found to be quite natural it's not like you wake up with a bush of hair although that would be cool :D

I'm sure things will be fine mate, I postponed having a HT for almost 10 years because of these concerns and in the end it really wasn't that much of a big deal workwise.

  3. Honestly I think it looks very good so far. I also think you are a difficult case and i cant wait to see the final result, you had hair in the front that will help the hairline and midscalp look awesome but the sides are low so blending in the ultra thick hair on the sides and crown with the transplanted hair will be challenging.

I think the key in this will be how low can you go with clippers on the sides so that the donor doesn't look very thick compared to the nearby transplanted areas. You had FUE so that supposedly can help cause you can go very short on the sides.

I love your result so far and its still early! if you can go short on the thick donor to eliminate the difference i think it will be fantastic. But thats just my opinion you will see how you like it as the growth continues maybe it wont even be an issue.

Love the write up as well it was so funny the anesthesia part lol. I understand it wasn't funny back then but the "it didnt help" comments killed me. take care and best wishes

Thank you very much for your words of encouragement and expressing your view it means alot, I've contemplated what style to keep my hair once it's fully matured, shorter is what I'm thinking as well.... but being a 80's kid I'd love to go back to having this...!:D:D

  4. looks good. How many months is this?

Do you plan on getting the crown done?

4 Months, out of the 4177 grafts I had done 1630 grafts in the mid and crown, there is still lots of growth on the crown just a lot slower than the rest of my head (http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/154196-true-crown-area-slow-terms-growth.html). I'll see what the final result looks like if I need a top up on the crown then I may go ahead with it.

  5. Thanks rxkham, informative thread you have going.

Good to hear positive words about Dr Demirsoy, to be honest ive not really heard anything bad! Althought not a huge amount of final results online. I guess people are too busy off living their life.

How much did the Dr actually do?

Dr Demirsoy ofcourse did the consultation, drawing on my head to show where hair transplants would be placed as well as their direction, he did the extraction drilling on the sides of my head (once the anaesthetists had done here job!), the nurses extracted the hair follicles from where Dr Demirsoy had drilled.

Dr Demirsoy did the incisions, the nurses then then planted the hair follicles. Dr Demirsoy checked on progress regularly, I was pretty comfortable with what was going on although it does take a long time to plant the hair follicles and I was getting frustrated.. a classic moment of " ..are we there yet ?"

I think if you google his name there is a german ht site that has more patient results on their, just bang the url in google translate and you get a flavour of what everyone is talking about.

    Best of luck mate.

  6. Hi imnothere,

I posted my 3 month update on the forum the procedure was done by Dr. Demirsoy, I've travelled to quite a few countries but not to Turkey, so having someone to pick you up take you to your hotel, explain what to expect and what to do while in Turkey was very reassuring and that is what the Health Travels contact provided.

Dr. Demirsoy is very down to earth, a nice guy and gave me honest answers and expections. The clinic is very clean and modern and the staff are constantly monitored by Dr. Demirsoy during the procedure.

Cost was not the deciding factor, the results from various patients was very important in my decision, plus I wanted Hairlosstfa to get it done first so I would know what to expect (we booked at the same time) :D

    Cheers.

  7. Regarding FUE does the choi implanter pen result in scarring where the grafts are inserted?

If manual punches extracting grafts causes micro-scars, wouldn't be the same for the top of the head? A little off topic, I'm sorry, but some of the top FUE surgeons are using some variation of the choi implanter pen. If it caused unsightly scarring I doubt it would be used much,

    Thanks.

I can tell based on my personal experience that there is no scaring that I can see especially the front of the head, I've posted pics which are pretty close up of the top of my head again nothing really visible.

  8. Looks like you were smart to follow your intuition, and potentially dodged a bullet. From my cursory research, seems like Armani developed a pretty bad reputation.

Yeah looking back at it now I too found some not so positive information regarding Arman, at the time they were giving free flights and hotel stay but like so many poeple say on this forum do your research ... I wonder if this forum was around then.

  9. I started to lose my in my mid 20’s and actually thought about a hair transplant almost 10 years ago with Alvi Armani in Toronto with no research or any real understanding of the procedure, I can’t even remember if I asked about the number of grafts or anything all I remember it was pricy.

At the last moment I backed out, just a gut feel it wasn’t right or perhaps the right time and I’m glad I did, over the years I’ve come to this forum to read and educate myself on the procedures available, the process, and more importantly peoples experiences.

I flipped flop over the years to undertake a HT my main concern being the immediate short-medium term physical wounds (not great for work), I looked at a number of surgeons including Dr. Humayun Mohmand, being of Pakistan descent I didn’t have an issue traveling there. However the vast majority of the cases Dr. Humayun had were FUT and I was interested in FUE.

So I looked closer to home, Turkey came up a number times with some notable surgeons, I finally decided to go with Dr Erkan Demirsoy after seeing some very positive results.

All arrangements were handled by Health Travels including pickup from airport, hotel, and clinic overall a positive experience.

17th June I had my consultation Dr Erkan Demirsoy in the morning and agreed on a the number of grafts and process best suited to what I wanted. Around 4500 grafts was the number Dr Demirsoy felt could be harvested maybe more maybe less a frank conversation the way I prefer it.

First day extraction was 2547 I was very happy with the number, but let me be clear the anaesthesia injections hurt like hell if you don’t like needles you need to prepare yourself for it. Luckily my friend Hairlosstfa had is op a couple days before me and had warned me… it didn’t help.

Second day extraction was 1630 a little disappointed but I was told that second day extraction does not necessarily mean a replication of first day numbers. Anaesthesia injections wise I super pumped myself to suppress the pain an kept telling myself to suck it up it’s the last day of this… it didn’t help.

Third day was head wash and goodbyes to Dr Erkan Demirsoy and his team who were great, especially the translator / driver who picked us from the hotel and clinic everyday.
