  1. 6 months is too early to worry about hair angle. If I were you, I would let it grow and after 12 months post HT (so 6 more months in your case) start worrying about hair angles because hair tend to normalize once grown fully, at least that's what happened in my case.

  2. Thanks agustyna and Nick for the supporting words and makes me a bit at ease.

augustyna, I understand that four weeks post-HT everything is quite settled. But I started using Aloe vera 5 days post HT and that's the the time period I'm worried about.

Nick, you are right about the volatility of enthanol. However, don't you think that evaporated vapours could land on the grafts and do some damage?

  3. hairshopeing,

Thanks for the counseling, appreciate it.

Actually its not the normal handwash (soap) that I am worried about. What I did was I used hands antiseptic gel (disinfectant) that is worrying me.

I know disinfectant is used extensively in hospitals and surgeons use before surgery (to disinfect their hands), but I'm not sure if they use the alocohol based one.

Is anybody here who regularly use hand sanitizer (antiseptic/disinfectant gel) at home?

  4. I had an HT 4 weeks ago and everything has been pretty good so far. However, something has just got into mind and this is freaking me out.

In my post-op instructions I was instructed to use Aloe vera gel two times a day starting from day 5. Since I was using my fingers to dab the Alove vera on transplant areas, before the Alove vera application I washed my hands, and then sanitized my hands with an hands antiseptic (hands sanitzer) let them dry for half a minute or so and then dabbed the Aloe vera on my transplanted area. So good so far.

But I just happened to check the ingredients of my hands antiseptic (hands sanitzer) and it mentiones that it contains Denatured Ethanol. By Googling, I find out that Denatured Ethanol is actually alcohol. This is freaking me out that the alcohol-based antiseptic on my hands while rubbing Alove vera may have killed my grafts. Any opinions? Or is this just a paranoia and am I worrying needlessly?

  5. Hi,

I had FUE 2 months ago and now going through the doldrums. So far I have been very careful with post-op care.

But today I had to go out for around 15 minutes twice in very cold weather. The weather today has been around -15 °C. Then I took shower after 1 hour when I got home though by the time I started shower I was warmed down normally.

I wonder if staying out this cold in such freezing temperature may have affected my grafts?

  6. I always read that you should be on it for at least a year before a HT to stabilise your hair loss. With only 6 weeks you wont know if it will work for you, if it doesn't then you will continue to lose the rest of your hair after a transplant.

Who is your surgery with? Did they not discuss this with you?

This is my second surgery (first one was a year ago) and yes the doctor did advice to start with fin but I just couldn't make up my mind to start with it :-S

  7. In addition, the "initial use" of finasteride and even minoxidil can induce a massive shed. Not in all, but in some men.

If that were to happen to you, then potentially you could shed perfectly good native hair within the recipeint area as well. Subsequently, the surgeon then could potentially and unknowingly make recipient incisions into exisitng hair follicles that have already shed their respective hair shafts leaving those underlying follicles subject to transection when the recipient incisions are being made. In other words, damage to those underlying good follicles that have shed their hair because the doc can't see them when the hair shaft is not there.

That's exactly what I was concerned about even though there aren't many native hair in the recipient area which I'm going to get treated in 6 week, just few hundres miniaturized hair.

Would it then be a good idea to start with Finasteride after the surgery?

I know I should have started earlier but I just couldn't mame up my mind and now postponing the surgery date is not an option.

What do you recommend? Starting fin now or after the surgery?

  8. Hi,

I'm 2 weeks post FUE and today after using my normal shampoo (so far I have been using baby shampoo), all my transplanted scalp has white scabs (?) or is it dandruff,...I don't know. Its comparatively thicker than dandruff particles and there are quite many transplanted hair (the ones that are still attached to my head) which have these white scabs on their tip above.

By trying to remove the white particles from the tip of the hair, I also got the hair attached to it out with almost not power at all.

I am wondering if these are white scabs or just dandruff? Or in an unfortunate case am I losing some grafts?

Could it also be the normal shampoo that I used? Should I continue using baby shampoo for a few more days or change the shampoo?

Thank you for the input in advance.

  9. Hi Blondhead, how is your growth progressing? Any update would be great.

One quick quesion: How did you choose Dr. Devroye? Did you have any consultation with Feriduni or Bisanga? If yes, what was your impression of them?

    Cheers mate,

  10. Danny,

Many members of our site have undergone follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant surgery. You can read more about the specific details of the operation at our hair loss learning center. Furthermore, if you're considering an FUE consultation and possible procedure in Europe, I highly recommend contacting Dr. Feriduni. He's one of the best, and I think his clinic can provide with you with an accurate idea of what you're looking at with regard to the potential of a FUE procedure.

Good luck! Feel free to ask any additional questions.

Just wondering, Future_HT_Doc, what makes you think Dr. Feriduni is one of the best? Have you ever done procedure with him or consultation etc?

BTW, I'm not saying he's bad or something, I'm just curious to know what is your opinion based on.

    Thanks

  11. Fantastic achievement, really, that you managed to get back to work just after three days. Bravo!!

I'm pretty much in the same situation as you with a bit of different that I can manage to have about a month vacations. Still, I wouldn't like the recipient area be shaved. However, I'm a bit worried about shock loss. Dom, did you experience any shock loss?

Other people in this forum may also suggest figures about the chances of having shock loss after HT, and are the percentage of chances of shoch loss different for FUT than FUE?

    Cheers,

  12. Thanks Dom for posting the pictures and detailed procedure. Looking really good and I wish you great and full recovery.

One question, Dom, what procedure did you get done: strip or FUE? In either case, what were the reasons you went for that particular procedure?

Second, you seem not have shaved the recipient area for the HT, so did that bring any complication or slowing down the transplantation?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Cheers,
