  1. I started losing my hair in my late teens. I started taking propecia about 10 years ago and it worked for me. My hair loss didnt change much after i stopped it, so maybe it wasnt the propecia. I started eating an impeccable diet and supplementing with wpi protein/vitamins etc. Maybe that helped? Couldn't have hurt. Anyways, I stopped it because i was concerned about the side effects. I wasnt worried about not getting an erection, but the general physiological changes that it may trigger. I think a weak erection may be the least of your worries - who knows what these things do to you. I dont want to scare you, but that is just my opinion: im big into natural living and very skeptical or big pharma - i would never get chemo for cancer; never take a vaccine; i grow my own food etc. I think you should be just as scared of the drugs as the hair loss. Of course, I could be completely wrong. It may do nothing adverse to you, but i guarantee it does something abnormal. For me a HT is far better because its just like a knee or back surgery - no ongoing drugs and chemicals. If you are worried, just stop the drugs and get a HT. Thats just my opinion, however ignorant it is

  2. Never been on meds for hair loss and don't ever intend on taking a single pill to be honest. I am very anti-medicine, I can't change that.

One of the attractions to FUE despite its high cost is the fact the results are permanent.

This is exactly how i feel. Id honestly rather be bald than take pills. Now that surgery is an option, I am considering it, and despite the surgery being quite intrusive, I actually consider it more natural than popping pills every day for the rest of my life.

  3. Ive just been reading this thread with great interest and im really not sure what to make of it. The lack of communication sounds terrible, but then they obviously do have the resources to contact you if they have incentive. Perhaps they didnt contact jeets back because his concerns were exaggerated? That appears to be the case to me - i think his hair looks great. Can someone else give me some opinions on what to make of this thread and what they concluded about Dr Prabdeep Sohi from Reviva clinic as i am considering going there. Thanks

  4. thanks ontop :) I'll keep posting updates here

@dog. I was in Chandigarh for 7 days ( mainly to have enough time to recover and to be able to see the Doctor if necessary ) My recipient area was growing rapidly until the shedding kicked in week 3. The peak of my ' ugliness' was pretty much around week 4. Luckily things have started to improve ..... the neighbor kids no longer run away ....LOL

    Hi Manuel,

Congrats, looks like its coming along nicely.

I too am looking at going to Chandigarh to see Dr B and i was thinking of hanging around and spending some of my healing time exploring India. Obviously ill be very careful and wont over do it. My travel will consist of seeing and not much doing - no beaches, pubs and heavy drinking etc. - just walking, seeing, taking pictures etc. I will stay in comfortable hotels and be conscious of relaxing and resting when required,Can you give me some tips? This is what i had planned:

Day 1: 2500 graph FUE Surgery. Back to the hotel to sleep.

Day 2. Check up in morning if required. Relax at hotel. Bandana for some light walks and sightseeing.

Day 3. Relax at hotel. Bandana for some walks and more sightseeing

Day 4. Wear bandana and maybe fly to another city for some sightseeing. etc etc. until

Day 14: Leave india. Wear bandana and maybe see few other countries. Can go to gym and do more strenuous activities.

  5. Hi, thanks again for your reply. I couldn't find the Dr Lorenzo "2 step process" video. You dont have the links do you?

    I found this video though:

It shows an FUE with the donor area completely shaved and the scars barely recognizable. I figure If i get an excellent doctor, I still have the option of shaving concealing both the scars and the balding. Sorry i know i already asked/stated that, but would you agree from this video?

  6. Hi,

    Thanks for the replies.

Lets say I go and get a 2500 graph FUE done this year from a highly reputable surgeon. It will take about 6-7 months for the hair to grow and look good. As I will not to take the drugs, my hair loss will continue, and I may very need another in 12-24 months from now to replace the additional hair ive lost. For arguments sake, lets say i get the 2500 graphs on the front, top and some crown on my head, but then decide against getting another HT. I decide I will shave my head with a 1 blade so that my hair is shaved but the scars on the back of my head are still not visible. The result, I assume, will be that it appears I have simply shaved a basically full head of hair as the front, top and crown will obviously appear to have hair growing, albeit, perhaps with a couple of barely visible patches. Is this theory correct? Im not saying i wont get another HT - I probably will - but im just considering everything.

  7. Hi,

Ive been researching and contemplating getting a HT for many years. Im 33. I still havent "pulled the trigger" and still not even sure I will. I have 4 major questions/concerns that I hope can be answered/addressed:

    1. Should I wait for a newer, better treatment? I was going to get an FUT 4 years ago because it looked really appealing, but I didnt, and Im glad i didnt because i like to keep my hair short and the newer FUE procedure emerged as a far more appropriate alternative to address my needs. I wonder then: perhaps in 4 more years, will there be something considerably better if i hold off?

    2. I dont want to take any drugs or various lotions and would rather be bald than do so. Do i need to take these drugs/lotions?

    3. Im currently estimated at needing 2500-3000 graphs. If I get the FUE surgery and my hair loss continues, and for some reason I cant get another HT, will I then have the hair on the back of my head and the hair that has been transplanted on the top/front with strange unorthodox balding areas throughout? That will look even worse than normal balding wont it? And if this is the case, is it possible for me to just change my mind, accept my hair loss and shave it, or will the fue scars be visible with a clean shave? I guess my question is: have others received a HT, realized they needed another HT, but then decided to accept balding and shave it all or onceyou get one you really need to keep them going to "finish the job"?

    4. Do others consider that when they are older - 50-70's - they will regret having the hairline of someone in their twenties and perhaps looking somewhat strange?

  8. Do all your sightseeing before op. Trust me after op you won't feel like gowing anywhere. You got to remember your head will be sore and itchy at times. If they prescribe you anti bio tics which they did for me you may have loose motion which will cause weakness as your body is loosing essential fluids.

After op you may experience face/forehand swelling.

I went India in jan 2014 and had op done in pune India. I am so glad I did op last and laid low for 10 days after op. Yes it is frustrating and boring being confined for 10 days but if you've made such a sacrifice to have a life changing op why risk sightseeing in India in the blazing heat, humidity and of course the dust and of course the dreaded Mosquitos all things that will make you itch more and increase risk of infection and scratching implants out.

    Hope this helps

10 days seems like an awful lot to be confined and lay low? This was what I had planned:

Sightseeing for a few days, then procedure.

Day 1 post op: Relax most of day. Visit doc if need be.

Day 2 post op: Relax. Walks.

Day 3 post op: Relax. Walks. Leave hotel briefly. Go somewhere with A/C.

Day 4 post op: Relax. Moderate exercise. Easy sightseeing

Day 5 post op: Relax. Moderate exercise. Easy sightseeing

Day 6 post op: Relax most of day and fly home

Day 7 post op:Still flying. Arrive home. Relax. By this, day 7 -Swelling usually has subsided. Redness is faint or absent. The hair transplant looks and feels like a week-old beard. There may be some residual crusting that can be gently scrubbed off (donor area only).

  9. Hi,

Being an Indian i would strongly reccomend to avoid sight seeing after surgery. The main reasons being you cant go anywhere without exposure to sun, you cant wear hats as it will damage scabs, the dust may cause infection, and if you are given antibiotics that will make you drowsy.

Rest in your hotel for couple of days and flyback home. Take flight between chandigarh and delhi. Check makemytrip.com

You can come back for sight seeing after recovery.

Hi, I too am planning a trip to india for a fue and was hoping to do some sightseeing after the procedure. I realize i might be fatigued for a day or so afterwards, but is sightseeing not possible 48 hours after the surgery for a strong young man? Also at what time can i wear a hat?

  10. The Hairlines don't show complete naturalness in many cases, and look rather pluggy. In a particular case, the hairline was too aggressive and looks weird(There goes the face ratio)!!The After photos are taken with auto-lighting in some cases and the true results are masked. To Sum up,I ve seen better results with many docs/clinics here.

The Pricing is mentioned as 45 INR per follicle and not graft!!!There are few docs in India who charge per follicle!! So,a 3 follicles grafts will cost you 135!!!Personally,I find this ridiculous as the no which they give might be actually lesser than the follicles transplanted.

That's really interesting regarding charging per follicle as opposed to graph and I agree the hairlines in some photos look unnatural and pluggy. I contacted him about his price and why it was so cheap as I found it quite disconcerting and his reply was as follows: "It is cheaper because I don't differentiate between local and outside india people, as per price structure. I charge 45 Rs per graft for pt undergoing 1000 or less. 35 Rs per graft for pt 2000 or less and 30 Rs per graft for Pt requiring more than 2000 grafts."

Also, ISHRS dont have him listed but his website does. His relpy to that was: "Surgeon has to send annual fees to remain affiliated with ISHRS,perhaps I have not send that."

Unforutnely in a business like this, when trust is so important, it really is enough to deter most people.

  11. why to go with a doctor who has a bad reputation for bad hairline

I would pay a bit more for better results then go with a cheap doctor and have emotional torture for the rest of my life.

I think you should look more for the quality then the price. I am not saying not to go with cheap doctors, but I do say that you must make sure they have all the quality to give you probably a lifetime hair joy.

Thank you, and I appreciate your concern and your advice, but I can assure you that i would never pay less money to be thrifty and subsequently gamble getting life ruining surgery. My queries are based on the fair assumption that its possible there is more than one good fue doctor in india other than Dr Bahti and that the other exceptional doctors perhaps dont have quite the reputation and thus while they build their business and reputation, their price and waiting list are not as large. I probably will go with him, but if someone can meet my stringent criteria including showing me many dozens of photos of their work, then i will certainly consider them also.

Im also looking at Dr Satinder Singh and Dr Sangay Choden Bhutia who are a husband and wife combination and both ISHRS members that have their practice in Delhi. Any info on them would be great

  12. Hairhair,

Have you considered Dr. Radha? She is recommended by our community and performs Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) in India. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

    Good luck!

I initially made plans to see Dr Bahtti and still probably will, but had to cancel my reservation in june . I know his schiudel is quite busy so i probably wont get another chance for 2 months or so. Thats why i was asking for someone as talented, or near as talented, as i didn't want to wait (although i will if required).

I contacted Dr Radha around the same time and she suggested i needed 3000 and recommended the strip. Conversely, Dr Bahtti recommended 2600 via FUE, and his appraisal better suited me.

Im currently looking at fellow ISHRS member since 2010 DR Swaroop Singh Gambhir. Anyone familiar with his work?

  13. Im getting an FUE in india and shortlisting some doctors to investigate for not only skills/results, but also availability/cost.

    So far I only have:

    Dr Bahti

    Dr Prabdeep Soh

    Dr Kalia

    DR. DEVINDERJIT S. WALIA

    Dr. Shobit Caroli

They are all ISHRS members. Please make some recommendations.

    Regards

  14. So Im going to go ahead with an FUE in India (roughly 2600 graphs), and Im trying to plan my schedule. Thanks to this site and the generous contributions, I have an excellent understanding of what to expect, but there are still some outstanding questions.

    1. Upon arriving in my location, will I require a day PRIOR to the procedure to visit the doc and chat about things, or is that "chat" or pre- procedure consultancy part of the day the procedure is to be performed? I know I have the procedure day, and the follow up day for a check up, but do I have a pre- procedure consultancy day prior to those. I.e. Do I need to leave 3 days allocated for the FUE?

    2. Shaving my head. Do i need to do this? Is it better if I do? Do i shave my entire head or just the donor area?

    3. Can someone explain to me the process after the FUE in terms of appearance, pain, hair growth etc.

    This is what I envisage:

-Day 1 after the procedure, I will go for a check up in the morning. Later in the afternoon I will return to my hotel and relax.. I will still be in some pain and my head will be red and scabby. I might go for a light walk around and will probably wear a hat

    - Day 2

I will still be in some pain and my head will be red and scabby. I will do some sight seeing but i will be careful not to touch my head. I will wear a hat.

    -Day 3

    (same as day 2)

    -Day 4 and onwards...(up to 2-3 weeks)

    This im not sure...

Will I still be red and scabby? Will I still be in pain? Will I still need to wear a hat? Will it still be obvious Ive had a FUE? If so, how long until the redness and scabs diminish and I can exhibit less caution with touching my head? I.e. when can i return to the office looking somewhat normal?

    Thanks in advance
