  1. Great improvement...concealers are really the way to go with hair that is thinning...night and day...granted it is not really "real" but hey whatever makes you leave your house in the morning feeling a little bit better- GO FOR IT! I am kind of under the same assumption that I would like to have a HT done (preferably FUE) to fill in my hairline and corners...now that I would have a good amount of hair there with this procedure I don't think i would mind having to put some toppik in it to fill it up as say go in for another HT right away after my first.

  2. Hi Everyone,

I am a Norwood 3 and considering a HT. Basically I am in a holding pattern as to how I want to go about my decision...meaning FUT vs. FUE. Putting money aside for right now as we all know FUE is about double give or take...I wanted to see who has actually had FUE and how the yield was.

Also, I was always under the impression that I would have to go with FUT as I need about 1,700 grafts in the hairline area and always thought FUE was only mainly for smaller jobs. But I went on some consults and FUE could be an option if I want it. I really don't want the scar which is the main driver. So with all that said, I wanted to see who ranks amongst the top FUE doctors as again I only was researching the best FUT doctors.

Thanks in advance for all of your help!!!

  3. I appreciate your answer...you are all right! The cost is double that of FUT but I am telling myself how much does happiness cost?! I really don't want the scar and I guess I am willing to sacrifice a little to get that result (i.e. by going with FUE and also paying double). I am a Norwood 3 so it will hopefully bring me back and to add density I would prob have to get another procedure but again bringing your hair back is priceless!

  4. Hey everyone!

I want to start off by saying I have never had a HT but am in the process of researching it. I am quite knowledgeable on the topic at least for someone that never had one...I have done my due diligence and even met with a few HT docs recommended by this site. I am a Norwood 3 with hair line issues.

My issue I am concerned with is whether to get FUE or FUT. I have read all the posts out there and even the docs have spoke to me about it. It is my understanding based on my knowledge obtained through this whole process that FUE doesn't yield as much as FUT...perhaps 60% vs. 90% respectively give or take. I REALLLLLY don't want a scar (i know who does right?!)...and I love to wear my hair short and have worn it short my whole life (approx. 2.5-3 clip on the sides)...so I guess my question is to FUE people in regards to how have your results been...i have seen pics but they can't speak volume in comparison to actual responses from the person. I was told I would need approx. 1,800 FU's in my hairline and perhaps another session to make it dense (i.e. potential hair greed!). I want to see if FUE really yields good results bc if i could avoid a scar I would love to...I want to see what makes people go for FUT vs. FUE.

Please any response would be great if you could discuss your results and their yields especially if you are a Norwood 3 and had FUE hairline work. Thanks in advance!!!!

  5. I think everyone is different...i have seen great results with doctors who shave and from doctors who do not...I don't necessarily think someone should choose one over the other just because of shaving but I can definitely see how it can be one of the things considered. I do though understand your point of having to just endure it and go through the ugly duckling stage.

  6. Hey Everyone...quick question...i am really on the fence about propecia...I currently take Saw Palmetto...for about 6-7 years now...I think it has held my vertex and crown as I have a good amount of coverage (I mainly have hairline issues). The problem is I don't know how good it is keeping my hair...not sure if i should switch to propecia. Is it possible to get blood work done to see how low/high my DHT is? What is a normal level that would indicate DHT is too high? Also, is it customary to take a blood test of certain levels before beginning? What are normal levels? Has anyone else taken Saw Palmetto and switched with good/bad results? Thanks!!!

  7. So the concensus is that a lower dose of propecia/fin can still be as good as the full dosage ? I want to get on it but want to start slow...is this what others have done? i figured i would either take 0.5 mg every day or 1 mg every other day to avoid sides...then perhaps working up to 1 mg every day as directed...any advice?!

  8. regarding propecia...do you/the doctors (H&W) recommend the 1 mg dose of propecia or can it be taken like every other day like others take it...i have a prescription but don't want to fill it yet until i know how I should go about taking it...obviously it is prescribed 1 mg every day but i want to try to avoid sides right out the gate...any advice? Are you on propecia?! can anyone else comment on their dosage? thanks!!!

  9. Hey Everyone...I am considering taking propecia and I know all the potential sides and other discussions...but I want to hear from everyone taking it in regards to has it hindered you from having kids? Meaning I am told if i want to have a child, to get off of it a month or so before I would try to conceive...has anyone had any issues with this. Please tell me your stories...because this scares me in that I don't want to mess around with this if it could make me infertile. Thanks!

  10. I hear what you are saying...I never heard of scalp tattoo's until now...not sure how they work. Toppik is the best short term/long term solution based on your hair loss. Meaning if it is moderate and you are not completely bald, I think it is the best solution outside of a HT. It is definitely not ideal in terms of having people know u use it and applying it secretively but the pros outway the cons big time and I literally would have lost my 20's if I didn't use it. I have never left my house without it on...the only time i left my house without it on was for my 3 HT consultations...I felt horrible and soooo insecure walking around without anything on...and when i looked in a mirror I almost passed out from the shock of what I looked like.

  11. I hear you in regards to having to apply a concealer (I use Toppik) while people are in your apt and also when my girlfriend is in my apt too waiting for me to be done...not fun AT ALL...like i am leading a secret double life...crazy but true. This has literally led me to not sleep over her apt and other places as I have a phobia to shower at anyone else's place because I have to bring my Toppik and have my special routine to apply it...always worried that people will think i am up to something...fun fun! lol
