  1. As explain before the post op care is very important and it is one of the essential parts of the procedure specially for the first two weeks. We explain this to the patient both in the morning before the procedure and also review it after wards. We clean the transplanted areas throughly before we put the bandage on for the first night. We provide special post op care package, show the clients how to clean the recipient and the donor site, give them paper instructions and give our nurse and Doctors phone numbers in case they have questions. We also make appointments for the patient to come in for a follow up in one day, 10 days and two weeks to make sure this is done correctly, and if they live at a distance we keep in touch via email, phone calls or Skype. Dr. Meshkin calls all of his patients and reviews the instructions with them personally over the phone and asks them to contact him if they have any questions. However, once the client leaves the office we have no control over the post op care. Again we do not know the identity of this client and he has not contacted us, but if our guess is correct he came in once for a follow up visit two months after the procedure. If the client does not follow up with the doctor, does not show up at the scheduled post op visits and does not call, we have no idea of telling how this post op care was done. We take care of our patients from our end and expect the client to follow instructions and do the same when they leave the office. In this case it seems from the pictures that perhaps it was not done properly.

Athena - I have taken good care after the surgery & I did even meet the doctor after 6months & 1 year. I havent missed any of the appointments that were scheduled till the first year of the surgery.

I started losing hair gradually & I stopped propecia last dec 2014 as I didnt see any growth.

I have to apologize for the late response but I am not saying anything negative or I ever said anything negative about the whole surgery that was done. I said this didn't work out for me & you offered second HT after 1yr follow up which I wasnt ready to pay again.

I have a couple of friends who were waiting for the results so I updated my profile with my pictures.

    Thank you

  2. No problem...as long as you stay within a couple guard lengths (i.e. a difference of 1/4 of an inch), no one should be able to detect the difference. Also it appears you have darker hair so DermMatch might also allow you to buzz down shorter (from my experience, the darker your hair, the better everything blends). If you were to consider the FUE grafting into scar route, it would probably require around 300-400 grafts to allow you to shave down to maybe a 2 or 3 guard without any blending considering you can almost buzz down to a 4 guard. Of course, transplanting hair into a scar can be somewhat unpredictable with yield, but I have seen some pretty impressive results. I am looking into this option at the moment, but I am not ready to proceed...I am a bit hesitant about undergoing any other procedure after my initial experience.

Thanks for the suggestion & yes i am on the same thing about getting my second HT after all this.

I'll check out Dermmatch...i kinda used toppik initially it was ok but let me checkout Dermmatch too....Thanks :)

  3. Hi Romeo09:

I am sorry to hear your HT was not successful. From personal experience, I know how frustrating it can be when there is no definite reason why your HT ultimately did not produce the results you were expecting. Saying that, I believe you still have options. I know you mentioned the possibility of shaving down. From your pictures, it appears you have retained a strong hairline which might work in your benefit in terms of framing your face. Have you ever experimented with buzzing down your hair? With some creative blending, I have been able to conceal my scar reasonably well (i.e. I take everything down to a 2 guard with blending of a 3-4 guard around the scar). If your scar is a bit wider, you could always look into FUE grafting which has generated a significant cosmetic appearance for some patients. There are also some other options out there that you could consider if you are interested in just improving the scar as much as possible.

I tried the buzz cut but if I go 4 or below the scar is visible well sometimes couple of them thought its a new hairstyle :) which was funny but ya.

Now i go by 5 which is ok but something is better.

thanks for the suggestion of blending the scar...let me try it this time...Cheers man

  4. Hello Romeo, it is great to finally hear back from you. I'm sorry to hear about your results...are you back in contact with Dr. Meshkin to fix this? I hope things work out.

It has been 10 months since I had my hair transplant with Dr. Meshkin. I have not had any hair fall out and I hope it stays that way. When did you first start losing your transplanted hair?

GLad to hear that...be positive & hope it turns out really good :)

No i didnt contact the doctor.

  5. In my opinion, Romeo09 should give Dr. Meshkin the chance to evaluate the work/results in person and if it's determined that he's had poor growth, I'd encourage Romeo09 to give Dr. Meshkin the chance to make things right. The pictures the patient recently provided do seem to indicate poor growth. However, I also find it strange that he waited almost 3 years to post an update and doesn't seem to want to try to get his concerns resolved?

Romeo09, what's your thinking on this? Also, what was the exact date of your surgery? I'm guessing by your patient website it was 9/2/2011?

    Thanks,

    Bill

    Hello Bill

Thanks for your message. Yes Sept 2, 2011 was my surgery date. I gave myself one more year to see how my transplant will be but it went worse I lost pretty much all the hair & since I had a couple of friends on this website I wanted to check how their status was & saw so many responses on my post so thought of updating with my pictures & like user @ hadenough2014 said yes that was my feeling "I gave a shot & it didn't work out for me well"

    I didnt have much options.

So sorry for the late reply but I really appreciate you messaging me.

    Thank you

  6. I am really really sorry to respond this late. I have been out of the country for personal reasons & didnt get a chance to login to the website.

First of all I did go through all follow up visits with Dr. Meshkin & then I met him once after 6months after the surgery which he said he'll be evaluating me after 1year & he suggested I needed a second HT to be done which I was not convinced as I didn't wanted to pay again for the poor result (at least in my opinion).

Yes I have been on medications (FIN & Propecia) till last year i.e till Dec 2014, but stopped Propecia & I am still continuing Rogaine.

I will be active now & please feel free to answer any of the questions & I would be glad to answer all of those. Anything that will help you guys I am glad to answer.

Thank you & really sorry for posting this late but will be active now. Just had some personal reasons and had to be out of the country for past 6 months.

  7. Hey guys i do apologize for the late reply but it just that i thought i should be sharing some pictures of mine.

I really had a very terrible experience with the surgery & this is where I am right now. It is kinda discouraging sometimes but may be i have learned it the bad way after spending all the money, i just feel so bad that atleast i should have not done the surgery so that i would have shaved my head off but with the scar now...even thats not a possibility.

Anyways hope many other users have a good experience with their surgery.

  8. Hey Guys...i'm sorry this is quite late a reply. Was moving places because of my job schedule.

So its been 2 years me getting my surgery done & my personal opinion no i wasn't satisfied with the result.

3000 grafts they did say that it will make quite a good change on my head but nothing much has changed.

I paid a visit to Meshkin's office after an year of my surgery and he said the scar healed well and the hair will grow eventually and offered me if I want to go ahead with 2nd surgery.

Well the hair didn't grew it was pretty same...In a way I am disappointed but may be my case was different. Not discouraging any of you guys but ya i have given my best but it didnt work for me.

I'll be posting you the new pictures & comments are appreciated.

  9. Romeo, how's it goin buddy? How is the healing? Did you shed any hairs? I think I just went through some shedding. I'll post pics in a few days at my one month mark. Any more pain around the donor area? I know you said the stitches made it uncomfortable, what about now?

    Hey Sean

Hope the scar area pain is now gone and that after the stitches are removed you do not have any issue. Just reviewed your pics, looks good. Happy Growing and good luck.

Almost all the scabs have fallen off..yea the scar pain is fine now..!!

    how are u doing...healed completely?

  12. hello romeo09,propecia which contains the drug finaseride or a generic form of propecia, but my advice would be a generic form of proscar which contains 5mg of finasteride compared to the 1mg that is found in propecia, then use a pill splitter and cut it into quarters=1.25 mg per dose makeing a massive saveing, you should also try minoxidil 5% which is a hair growth stimulant, you need to do something now as you seem to have very aggresive loss and to be quite honest if you carry on doing nothing the chances are you'll be a proper chrome dome in the not to distant future, all the best with it and have a nice day.....

thanks a lot for ur advice.!

    i'll start using them..!

  13. Romeo09

    Please be careful.

You may have started as a Norwood 3V pattern but I would describe you now as having closer to a Norwood 6 thinning pattern with a persistent frontal fringe (hairline.) As you are just 25 you could develop a full Norwood 6 pattern later and could even go on to develop a Norwood 7 pattern.

If you are not already using medical stabilization, you should consider it. Whether you choose FUT or FUE there is a limit on how much scalp hair you will be able to transplant. You may not have enough scalp donor hair to cover your whole eventual balding area well. For this reason, I believe that most doctors would not agree to transplant your crown now.

If you did transplant 2500 grafts over your whole thinning area it would look quite sparse. There can be a role for hair transplantation for you but you need to have a good long-term plan with clear expectations and should understand your commitment to more hair transplantation later.

Thanks for your advice Dr. Simmons...I am not under any medical stabilization now...could you please suggest me what I should be using.

Do you want me to wait a couple of years before i think of a HT ?

    Thanks a lot Dr. Simmons.

  14. Thanks Sean for your reply

I am actually open to both FUE or Strip...cant actually decide which one but preferably FUE.

As per the grafts I am not sure how many needed to cover my bald area and any info about that would really help.

I would prefer a local doctor and my goals are to cover up the crown area, thats the area where i have lost all my hair.

    thanks!

What do you consider nominal cost? Fue or Strip? number of grafts needed? Available donor supply?

If you can answer those questions then that would help finding the right doctor. There are many good doctors to choose from. Whether you want one local, international, for the cost, number of sessions, and etc etc.

What are your goals? What do you see your result to be after a transplant?

  15. Hello Everyone

I am 25 year old experiencing hair loss for about 4 years.

I need your support guys I am planning for a hair transplant and my profile pic shows my degree of hair loss.

I have gone through different forums and wasn't able to get genuine reviews.

I am from Pasadena, Los Angeles area could you guys please suggest me quality physicians and obviously nominal cost.

Can I get a rough idea of what the cost would be for my case. Cost does matter on density and hair..but a rough idea would be helpful.

Help Me guys i want more hair :D:)

    Thanks Guyss!
