  1. Hello Zeeman, thanks for your comment.

I think the pics that you have seen here are the ones only after my FIRST hair transplant (where Dr. Arocha had worked on my crown region), and NOT after the 3rd one (as I haven't yet uploaded the results after my 3rd hair transplant!). So, I think you are mistaken when you thought that this is the density after 3 transplants. You can see the results after my second transplant here - http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/sabby/albums/2116 where Dr. Arocha worked on my hairline and frontal temples.

You need to realize that hairloss is progressive. The transplanted hairs may be permanent, but the original hairs that are already susceptible to DHT will ultimately fall (if medications are stopped). Due to the strong side effects of some the medications I was taking, I was not very keen on continuing them and hence had stopped taking them after a while. As a result I started losing the remaining hairs (NOT the transplanted ones, ofcourse!). I was originally a Norwood V -> Norwood VI patient, and hence needed a lot of hairs (grafts). That's why I had to go for my 3rd procedure. After I got the results of my 3rd transplant, people who knew me before my 1st transplant could hardly believe what they were seeing, as I was now having a head full of hair. However, at this point you need to understand one other thing that donor hairs (grafts) are limited, and if one has a terrible hairloss like me (Norwood V -> Norwood VI), its impossible for any doctor to restore the density of hair back to the original density, like may be what I had 10 years back! Hence, a decent enough coverage is what should be expected. With this in mind, I believe, Dr. Arocha has surpassed my expectations. Had he not done that, I wouldn't have gone to him 4 times flying from the other end of the country!

Just to mention, the 4th transplant that I had recently was an FUE procedure, and it was Dr. Arocha himself who recommended me to have an FUE over another FUT (although I still had donor strip available due to high donor density at the back of my head). So, I don't think he prefers FUE over FUT. The thing is, with the present technology available, FUT has a much higher yield of grafts than FUE. So, for a patient like me, who needed a very high number of grafts and a linear scar wasn't a concern, definitey FUT was the first choice, but during my 4th procedure I needed around 1200 grafts only to increase the overall density, and an FUE procedure was enough for that.

I hope, I have been able to clear up the little confusion that you had after reading my previous writeup. On this note, I just want to mention that I am just a patient who has suffered from terrible hairloss, and it is Dr. Arocha who has helped me a great deal to fight back against this loss. I am speaking to you based on my experience and results I personally have got, and also on the basis of some study that I have done myself on hair loss and hair transplants, before going this route. But, I am not a doctor by profession, so my suggestion to you would be to at least have a free one-to-one consult with Dr. Arocha just to see how much he will be able to help you. If you are still not satisfied after that, then you can always consult some other doctor based on your preferences.

    Good Luck!!

  2. Hi guys, I was just going through this thread and thought of giving my opinion on this topic. I am in my late twenties and have suffered from extreme hair loss! And that's why I can understand what people go through when they start having hairloss. I want to share my experience in this thread so that I can help you in some way to counter your hairloss by choosing the right doctor.

I used to be very depressed about my terrible hairloss until I met Dr. Bernardino Arocha (from Texas) about 4 years back. In the last 3 years, I have had 3 FUT transplant procedures with him to counter my hair loss, and very recently, I also had a FUE procedure. And for all my 4 procedures (including the FUE), I have gone to Dr. Arocha, despite the fact that every time I had to travel over 2000 miles across the US to reach his clinic in Houston, Texas. During each of these procedures, he has done a fantastic job, which is evident from the results I have got. He has now brought big smile to my face! This, I guess, speaks volumes about the ability of Dr. Arocha and his staff in the domain of hair transplant (both FUT and FUE)! For FUE procedures, he has the ability to perform them using the ARTAS robot (which he owns) as well as using his 0.8mm manual punches, which I personally think is great, as he has complete control over the procedures! Well, if I have to describe Dr. Arocha in short, I would say that he is an ideal mix of “passion” and “compassion” – he has tremendous passion for the work he does and has a lot of compassion for his patients like us who are suffering from hair loss.

Going down the memory lane 4 years back, I can remember that it was not easy for me to find a “quality” surgeon for my transplant procedure. The usual questions kept haunting me – Who is the best in this kind of work? What about the cost? What about the pain in the surgery? What about the healing? And most importantly, what about the final results? I am a Research Engineer by profession and thus by habit, I started doing quite an extensive research on hair transplantation and the surgeons who perform these surgeries. From all the studies that I did, I finally came to the conclusion that Dr. Arocha stands much ahead of his fellow peers in the hair transplant industry!! Plus, from my own experience with him in the last 4 years, I can mention so many positive points about him, which will surely make one feel that he is the right doctor to have a hair transplant with. Here are the points –

    (1) He is recommended by several surgical Hair Restoration Associations, as he has really set a very high standard for this kind of a surgery. I would suggest you to visit his website or the Hair Restoration Network forum for more details on his credentials, surgery results, and reviews, if you want.

    (2) He does skype as well as face-to-face consultation, both free of cost! He and his staff are very friendly.

    (3) Doc himself is very experienced and knowledgeable in hair transplantation and he has also completed a prestigious fellowship in hair transplantation to master the skills and intricacies involved in this kind of a surgery. On top of that, he has got a very knowledgeable, experienced and skillful staff. He keeps travelling to attend conferences and seminars on hair transplant surgeries to keep himself updated with the latest standard practices.

    (4) Doc is an artist himself by hobby and what I know about this kind of cosmetic surgery is that, along with the technical skills, the doc needs to have a very good aesthetic sense, because after all, its all about looks, which I am sure Dr. Arocha has.

    (5) Dr. Arocha and his staff concentrate on hair transplant and perform only ONE surgery a day, so the patient will be his sole attention on the day of your surgery.

    (6) Believe me, the surgery he performs is definitely painless, and most of the cases he deals with show early results. By God's grace, I am one of them!

Hence, if you are considering a hair transplant to look better and younger, I would say that Dr. B. Arocha is definitely “the right” doctor for you! You even have an added advantage that you need a doctor in Dallas, and Dr. Arocha has a clinic right there in Dallas as well as Houston! So, you dont even need to spend time, energy and money in travelling, whereas you can be under the care of one of the best HT (FUT/FUE) surgeons in the world!

  3. Hey NickinTX,

Great that you have decided to undergo a hair transplant surgery! Choosing a good surgeon is the most important and probably the most difficult task for people like you, who are relatively new to this. After extensive research on Hair Transplant Surgeons, I had chosen Dr. B. Arocha. I have undergone two hair transplant surgeries by him in Houston and am very happy with the results. He is undoubtedly one of the best in this field today. His patient’s photos and videos in his website - Arocha Hair Restoration - Houston Hair Transplant Surgeon & Specialist for Hair Loss speak volumes about his artistic surgery skills.

Probably, you might want to have a look at my own hair restoration journey photos. So, here's the link - Hair Restoration Site for Sabby

Please let me know if you want more information on my experience of surgery with Dr. Arocha. All the Best..

  4. Hi sooners2026,

I just read your post and also some other posts in this forum. So, I decided to share my opinion as well just to do my bit to help you in some way as I know how it feels when one loses his hair! I am a Research Engineer by profession and thus by habit, I have done quite an extensive research on hair transplantation and the surgeons who perform these surgeries. From all the studies that I conducted to find a suitable (obviously "The Best") hair transplant surgeon for myself, I finally came to the conclusion that Dr. B. Arocha is one of the greatest in the hair transplant industry today!! He has clinics in Dallas as well as in Houston, which shall not be far you’re your place. I have myself undergone two hair transplant surgeries by him (one last year and the other, a week back). When I first went to him last year, I was staying in the southern part of the US, but now even though I shifted to a state which is absolutely in the north of the US, I still decided to fly more than 2000 miles to get my second procedure done by him. And this time also, it all went so well by God’s grace! Do you think I could have dared to take such a decision if I didn’t have the trust and faith in him and his work? Its up to you to think, my friend! But atleast, from my own experience with him, I can mention so many positive points about him, which will surely make you feel that he is the right Doctor for you to have a hair transplant. Here are the points –

    (1) He is recommended by several surgical Hair Restoration Associations, who have really set a very high standard for this kind of practice. (He is a member of the prestigious Coalition Surgeons as can be seen on this website!)

    (2) He is a perfect gentleman and during the consultation, you can just discuss all your concerns and goals with him without any hesitation. Free Skype Consultation is also possible! Even after the surgery, if you have some concerns, he and his staff will happily entertain all your questions.

    (3) Doc himself is very experienced and knowledgeable the domain of hair transplantation and he has also completed a prestigious fellowship in Hair Transplantation to master the skills and intricacies involved in this kind of a surgery. On top of that, he has got a very knowledgeable, experienced and skillful staff, who are very professional in their work, but at the same time are personal in their behavior. Doc and his staff are very friendly and make every situation so light that you don’t even feel that you are having a surgery!! They make you feel a part of their family.

    (4) Doc is an artist himself by hobby and what I know about this kind of cosmetic surgery is that, along with the technical skills, the doc needs to have a very good aesthetic sense, because its all about your looks. Dr. Arocha is one such artistic surgeon. His patient’s photos and videos in his website - http://www.arochahairrestoration.com/ will speak volumes of his great artistic surgery skills.

    (5) Dr. Arocha and his staff concentrate on hair transplant and perform only one surgery a day, so you will be his sole attention on the day of your surgery. It will be "YOUR DAY", whose result will last you for a lifetime!!

    (6) Most of the HT cases which he deals with, show early results. By God's grace, I am one of them! You can check my hair restoration journey from the photos that I have posted on the Hair Transplant Network, under author name – “Sabby”. Here’s the link - http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=1703

Hope this write-up helps you to make your decision and I would personally suggest you to at least give him a call and speak to him before you make any other travel plans for your surgery. This is not going to cost you anything. Rather, you will gain a lot, trust me! Last but not the least, I must say that you are one of those lucky few who is so close to Dr. Arocha’s clinic. I wish I was this lucky!! So make the most out of it.. All the best!!

  5. Hi guys,

I just read the posts in this thread and found it quite interesting!! So, I decided to share my opinion as well.. Please excuse me if its a long one, but I want to help those who are considering to have HT to choose the RIGHT surgeon for them as this is ONE thing that REALLY MATTERS!! BERNARDINO AROCHA stands much ahead of his fellow peers in the hair transplant industry!! From my own experience with him, I can mention so many positive points about him, which will surely make you feel that he is the right Doctor for you to have a hair transplant. (2) He is a perfect gentleman and during the consultation, you can just discuss all your concerns and goals with him without any hesitation. Skype Consultation is also possible! AND ALL OF THIS HE DOES FREE OF COST!! I shall never forget that when I spoke to him for the first time over skype, I felt as if I knew him for years!! I remember, he and his staff made me feel very comfortable during the consultation and even boosted my morale saying that they could do a very good job for me, after assessing my hair condition! Now even after my surgery, when I have some concerns, he and his staff happily entertain all my questions.

    (3) Doc himself is very experienced and knowledgeable in his domain i.e. hair transplantation and he has also completed a prestigious fellowship in HT to master the skills and intricacies involved in this kind of a surgery. On top of that, he has got a very knowledgeable, experienced and skillful staff (like Craig, Maria and others), who are very professional in their work, but at the same time are personal in their behavior. Doc and his staff are very friendly and make every situation so light that you dont even feel that you are having a surgery!! Atleast I felt like that just before and all throughout the duration of my surgery.. They are so expert in their job, that I could not feel even for a moment that I was having a surgery!! I remember enjoying lunch with them during the break that we had in the middle of my surgery!! They make you feel a part of their family..

    (4) Doc is an artist himself by hobby and what I know about this kind of cosmetic surgery is that, along with the technical skills, the doc needs to have a very good aesthetic sense, because its all about your looks, which I am sure Dr. Arocha has..

You guys can check my hair restoration journey from the photos that I have posted on this website. I shall be posting more photos in future as well. For those who are interested to know about my HT procedure in more details, I am providing you the link to my blog - Hair Restoration Site for Sabby

    (7) For those of you for whom, money is a factor, lemme tell you that, unlike other HT Doctors, Dr. Arocha is okay with the patients paying money on the day of the surgery. No advance payments is required. Even Financing schemes are also available. And there is minimum paper works needed before the surgery.

I hope all the points that I have mentioned above support my claim why Dr. Arocha is one of the BEST HT Surgeons in the world! I feel that's why one should have no question about his credibility in Dallas!! I will be soon moving to a state in US, which is quite far from his clinic in Dallas or Houston. But seeing his credibility as a 'HT surgeon' as well as his genuineness as a 'person', I have decided that God willing, I will again come back to him for my second sitting in near future ignoring the distance issue!!

  6. Hi Myedulla51,

My case was almost same as yours, if not worse. I just had my hair transplantation done by Dr. B.Arocha in Houston two weeks ago. And it seems I am doing quite ok as of now. There is no discomfort at all! He is really a great hair transplantation doctor. I can mention some of the positive points about him, which might make you feel that atleast you can do a consultation (skype consultation is also possible!) with him.. Here are the points.... (1) He is recommended on this website as well as by several other surgical hair restoration Associations, who have really set a very high standard for this kind of practice. I have posted some of my Pre-Op and Post-Op Pics in my photo album, you can have a look at it. I will continue to update my album, so that all the interested people can keep tracking my hair restoration journey..... All the Best.

  7. Hi Empty Area,

Its a very good decision you have taken to undergo your hair transplantation surgery with Dr. Arocha. He and his staff are just excellent. They are professional in their work and personal in their behavior. They will just make you feel at home. You will never realize that you are having a surgical procedure. The best thing is that they perform one surgery a day, that's the reason you will be their sole attention on that day. It will be "Your Day!" the result of which will last your lifetime! So all the best for your procedure with Dr. Arocha..

  8. Today marks the completion of 1 week of my hair transplant by Dr. B.Arocha. Now I feel that the little bit of tightness of skin that I was experiencing in the past few days after my procedure is almost gone and there is almost no irritation in the donor region as well (the sutures are still there). I have posted some of the pics of my transplanted crown in the "Photo Albums" section of this website for the interested ones to see. The pics are those of 1 week post-op. I shall be posting more pics as my journey of hair restoration continues....

  9. Hi,

I had my hair transplant surgery done by Dr. Arocha and his extremely talented and experienced staff on May 6th, 2010. It started at around 9:30 in the morning and ended at almost 5 in the evening. I received 2,505 grafts in my crown. To be very honest, the procedure was painless. Doc's staff was continuously administering if I was having pain so that he could treat it with local anesthesia. Dr. Arocha and his staff took out the donor strip and then when his staff were preparing the grafts, Doc started making the incisions on my crown where the grafts were to be implanted. After the incisions were done I was given lunch and I could easily walk around and see the grafts being prepared under the microscopes. I had no problems in doing so. The Doc and his Staff were frequently joking with me keeping me relaxed all the time. They wee indeed caring! After the surgery was completed, photos of the transplanted area was taken and shown to me. Everything went on well as had been planned before the surgery. I left the clinic almost painless. The only pain I felt was during the night on the same day (of my surgery) in my donor region, as had already been told by the Doc and his staff before my surgery. But one pain killer medicine was enough to reduce the pain to almost nothing. On the day after my surgery, I was asked to visit Doc's clinic so that he could have a look at my transplanted region. He and his staff were very happy with the condition. Then his staff washed my transplanted hairs with a medicated shampoo with utmost care. I had come to Doc's clinic from outside Texas and had to go back quite a distance because of which I had taken another pain killer, but no more after that as I have had no pain since then. There is only a tightness in my scalp which sometimes reminds me that I have had "something" done on my head, but apart from that I am not feeling any discomfort till now. Hope everything goes on well and the transplanted hairs grow to give me a good volume of hair in my crown! I have also posted some of my pre and post surgery pics for the interested ones to see. I shall continue to keep you updated along with my hair photos.

  10. Hi everyone,

I am in my mid twenties and I have been losing hair since the last three years. I was not satisfied with the non-surgical medical treatment, so decided to go in for surgical hair restoration. After browsing this website I came to know about the Coalition Docs recommended by this website as well as by various Hair Restoration Societies. After seeing the patient reviews, I approached Dr. Arocha by email, describing my hair loss condition along with my recent photos. I also had many queries regarding the procedure and he was very prompt in replying to all of them very meticulously. After exchanging emails several times, I did a skype consultation with Dr. Arocha for about an hour! He was very sober and when I was speaking to him, it seemed as if I knew him for several years, whereas it was the first time!! I was pretty much worried about my hairloss, but he gave me a lot of confidence. That I guess, was the first treatment! His experienced staff was very friendly and helpful! Today I have had a personal face to face consultation with the Doc and his staff and at his clinic I was feeling like at home. A very good first experience!! I will have my hair restoration surgery tomorrow. I will keep you updated as things go on.
