  1. Over the past few years I have had multiple hair transplant sessions performed by Dr Michael Beehner at the Saratoga Hair Transplant Center in Saratoga Springs, NY. Dr Beehner’s skill, professionalism, attention to detail and quality results were unsurpassed and I have been extremely satisfied. His friendly staff is very well trained in all aspects of hair transplantation. They and Dr Beehner made me feel very comfortable from my initial exam through each of my procedures. My results were very realistic. Speaking as someone who carefully researched several physicians in my area that I felt would be a good ‘fit’ for me,

I highly recommend Dr Beehner for selection as a Coalition physician.

  4. Thanks Gil and Smoothy

I tend to get dermatitus at this time of year and the graftcyte has completely taken it away, plus it seems to give my hair more body. I have Nioxin and used that this morning. Gil, I'll order some Tricomin today and see how that works out. I know it's a good idea not to stay with the same shampoo all the time. Thanks guys for the advice.

    Phl,

I use Procyte's Tricomin Revitalizing shampoo as a second application which only takes a small dab of the product "after" I wash my hair the first time with a cheaper shampoo. The second wash really lathers up incredibly and a bottle has lasted me for well over a year. Let the suds sit on your head for approximately 5 minutes before the final rinse, that way the copper-peptide agent absorbs into the hair cylinders. It's a great product man! Nioxin is good too as Smoothy pointed out and I think Robert has recommended the extra-strength one also.

  5. If shampooing is reasonably aggressive but the scabs are especially stubborn (but out of sight amonst the existing hair) does it really matter how long they take to come off? Can they just fall off when they're ready to come off?

Dr. Cooley does not recommend using either an oil or a lotion. He does recommend keeping the grafts very hydrated. We always give a spray bottle with our special potion in it. It is the same idea as Graftcyte. We always offer that the patient can come in at the seven day mark and we clean everything up. If there seems to be any peeling or flaky skin Dr. Cooley likes Aqua Glycolic shampoo. I know CVS and Eckerds carry it. A little pricey but it really does the trick.

  6. These are dramatic pictures. I've been trying for an hour without success. I first tried 3 .png photos and that got an error. Then I zipped the folder with them in and tried uploading that: also got an error message.

    Any ideas?

  7. Hey guys,

I'm scheduled for a third session with Dr Beehner in mid-October. So far all is going well. The last year since my 2nd has been uneventful. I'll post pics when I can. My recent drivers license pic is nothing like my earlier one! I was getting a lot of comments from store clerks comparing my old license to how I look now, like "gee, I guess this is you!"

To me that was good to hear.

I do have something that is flaring up again that is really an annoyance, mainly because it does cause itching, etc - scalp dryness. I seem to be more prone now to this but have recently been using Nioxin (for thickening). I like the Nioxin. Also, Robert, I'm planning to use Nizoral again but frankly last time I used it it seemed to dry out my scalp more. I'm taking MSM, Flax Seed oil and a daily vitamin as well.

Does anyone have a suggestion for something that really works to rid me of those pesky flakes, which wouldn't be too harsh? (no tar shampoos!) I'd like to get my scalp in shape before my surgery, although while using Graftcyte the condition disappears!

    Thanks for the help guys.

  9. Hi guys

Has anyone had any experience with extreme drying or irritation of the scalp after their HTs? I've been wrestling with this since my first HT 2 years ago. When an experience with dermatitis resulted in me scratching and irritating my scalp even more, I ended up going to a dermatologist. Anti-dandruff shampoos were even more drying. About the only product I've found for my sensitive scalp is Johnsons shampoo but it provides no thickening or body. I tried Jojobaba (?) - didn't work. Biotin worked for awhile, then became drying. My next product to try is Nioxin. It's on order and I hope it works better.

I need to shampoo every day because an oily scalp (believe it or not) leaves my hair matted. Seems like a contridiction but my scalp gets oily at night.

Other than this situation, my 2 procedures have made a dramatic improvement. Just wish I could get my hair softer (not dry like hay) and scalp less dry and healthy feeling.

Can anyone, HT patients or doctors help me out? Any suggestions welcome!!

  11. Thanks. That's good enough for me. I haven't seen anything negative on Nioxin so I just ordered some online.

Is Nizoral useful for other than seb. conditions? I was told to use it once when I had a flareup of seb.derm.

  12. I'm not sure if I posted this in the correct forum, but here goes ...

We all know the effects of DHT on thinning hair and the use of Propecia to prevent this, but how about the claims that using Nioxin shampoo will help rid the scalp of a parasite that invades the hair follicle and which also has an effect on thinning hair? I know a lot of guys have Nioxin as part of their daily routine but does the stuff work? Has anyone seen any noticeable improvement? (see link below)

  14. Anyone know of a good stylist for men in the central CT area? My hair at this point is thin and quite long. I was a NW 6 and have had 2 sessions of a total of 2100 grafts. The last session was 6 months ago. I'm still wearing it in a comb-over and you know how cumbersome that can be. Besides this, my hair caliber seems to be medium to fine. I'd like to find someone familiar with creating a new cut that will maximize or give the appearance of more volume until all my grafts grow in. It seems that the longer it is the flatter my hair lays. I'm afraid a modified buzz would show quite a bit of scalp.

UncJim or anyone else from CT: any suggestions?

Or if someone has suggestions for styles please let me know.
