  1. Hello Everyone:

Wow. I've been off the board for awhile and could not believe the responses this thead accumulated...but thats a good thing....it generates interest for people.

I am 3 months into my system, and really do love it. Perhaps in the future I will be better served with a HT, but for now, I am content.

Thanks for all the comments, and I hope to post some more pics later. Jerry

  2. John:

I must disagree with you. First, I did not solicit most of the responses I received. I simply had people that know me say things like-Nice Haircut, or I really like your hair like that.

The other people were my close friends and family who knew I was getting a system, and they were brutally honest with me.

  3. Phil: Thanks for the comments. Yes-i must say I a very pleased with going with the hairsystem. I did opt out of a HT, only because I felt it was not for me right now.

I purchased my hairsystem at GAYERHAIR in Philadelphia. They do have a website under that name also. It is a frontal system that attaches with bonding tape. I return to them every 3 weeks where they take it off, clean it, and trim my own hair. I paid $1,000 for the measuring and making of 2 systems, and I now pay $120.00 per month which includes maintenance, bonding tape, 2 sessions a month that includes cleaning, reattachment, and a haircut. Also, every 6 months I receive a new unit....so I'm really pleased with it.

Not one person I know suspects that it is a wig---I get tons of positive compliments all the time on my new "haircut", as they say, and I couldnt be happier.

  4. After much reading and researching, I decided to NOT go through with the 1,000 graft procedure.

Although I lost $500.00 down payment, I believe it was better than losing $4,500.00 more with the probability of being disappointed with the results.

I'll probably wait until I have a chance to consult with another Doc...probably Feller or True.

Thanks for the sound advice to everyone. I do think I have made the correct decision to hold off on this.

  5. Is it best to get a haircut before the surgery, being that, I assume, it will be several weeks before one can get a haircut AFTER surgery.

I'm guessing that a haircut before surgery will make it easier for post-op cleansing, but then again, would a short cut make the scar more noticible?

Have any of your surgeons recommended a clean cut prior to your procedure,??Jerry

The reason that Katz uses for small sessions, according to what he told me at my consult, is that if you place lots of grafts close together at the same time (think of planting vegetables in a garden without spacing them apart),a lot of the grafts will not grow due to the lack of blood supply, etc. He prefers a small session, then when those grafts have taken "root", a second session can be done thereby allowing more graft growth. 8. Hi All. Several years ago, I went to the Bosley Clinic in Philadelphia for a free consultation.

I never did follow through with a transplant, for various reasons. And, by the way, after joining this forum, I'm kin of glad I didn't go to bosley after reading the posts.

Anyway, for the past 4 years, Bosley has not given up on me. Every couple of months, they send me letters with all kinds of special offers and pricing.

The latest offer I received from them is a BOSLEY GOLD CARD.....This offers me a minimum of 800 grafts for $3,900.00, with additional grafts for $4.75 each. They say their usual price for this is $7,200.00.

Not that I am going to take them up on this offer, but, for curiosity sake, is that a good deal they are offering me? Thanks-Jerry
