  1. My first consultation was with Bosley in Atlanta. I met with the salesperson and then a doctor for 15 minutes or so. I did not have the feel I wanted from a doctor. So, I called Dr. Griffin's office and they did not call back. And then I found Dr. Cooley in Charlotte, NC and I have two consults with Ailene and Dr. Cooley and then I schedule my procedure in November 2008. Dr. Cooley and his staff were great and the procedure was no problem. I was recommend you have a consult with Dr. Cooley.

    Good Luck!

  2. Kaounis,

Hello! I just had a 4516 FUT session with Dr. Cooley 2.5 months ago. He and his staff were great..best in class. I emailed his office and Ailene answered me back and then I had an in person consult and Dr. Cooley came in and then I had another consult 3 months later. And then I set the appt for the procedure and now I am in the waiting stage. But, I can see some shadows of a hairline.

If you select Dr. Cooley you will not be disappointed.

    Good luck!

  3. FormerlySamson,

Good luck! Your hair loss is very similar to mine. I had a 4506 session with Dr. Cooley two month ago and it lasted from 7am (the first hour or so was doing some paperwork and getting some med's) to 11:30pm. So, I was there for 16.5 hours. It was a great experience and be ready to watch some movies. I watched 7 movies and had a lunch and dinner break.

But, I do not know how your Dr. is going to do a two day strip procedure. Either way good luck.

  4. jma101,

I had this same question if Finisteride 5mg or Proscar 5mg split in half so taking 2.5 mg of Finisteride every M-W-F is what my doctor said to go with. And to the ED fear the positive has worked with me. I had the fear also but I have had a positive reaction to the Finisteride but all bodies and systems are different. I am Polish-America icon_smile.gif.

  5. Sunny 575,

I take 2.5 mg of Proscar M-W-F. It is hard to cut the 5 mg Proscar pill into 1/4's and my question is...Is the medicine in the 5 mg evenly distributed ? I would think not and that is why I go with 2.5 mg. And to tell you the truth I had the ED side effects in the first month and now if is like I am on Vigra all the time. So, I have had a positive side effect not a negitive one with ED. Keeps the wife from thinking that you are not attracted to her icon_smile.gif.

    Take care.

  6. Canadian,

If you are getting the front 1/3 shaved you are going to feel and look alot different than you do now. You will be 19 days post-op and if you didn't have to shave I would say it is not a big deal. But, since you are going to have to shave (why is that ?---using Wong or Hasson?) I would ask not be to shaved if you would like to make attend the sales event and not feel your best.

    Good luck.

And for Abedogg I would not go to the dinner or change it. Really the first 20 days without shaving you very aware of your HT procedure. If doned the on the hat in public for the first 45 days because of the "donor cut" and the line in the back and sides that showed. But, you are doing an FUE which is a different story will you have little red marks everywhere the Dr. removed the hair ?

    Good luck!

  7. Arion,

I will watch your progress because you pre-surgery hair loss looks close to my hair loss. I had 4500 grafts with mostly 1's and 2's and about 300 3's. I am 2 months out so I am in the waiting stage.

What clipper did you cut the back of your head with ? I just do not what to have the "donor cut" show.

I think that your progress is great. You should be happy with the results so far.

  8. Ski,

Who are you going to and how many grafts are your getting transplanted ? I am my HT with Dr. Cooley in Charlotte, NC and they say that 99% to 100% will grow. It is all in the oxygen and the solution that a Doctor uses that the grafts are in between the donor removal and the transplant time. They need to keep them healthy is the key.

  9. Bill,

I think that #1 reason to not do it for me was the "cut" in the donor area. And after talking and reading alot they seems to be one of the #1 reasons NOT to do it. Once my wife said suck it up I have had two C-sections at least your scar will be covered with hair. So, once you have got by that obstacle to me it is clear sailing.

It is a large decision to have your head "cut" on.

But, I did it and am 5 weeks out and all is good.

  10. Try taking 1mg of propecia just M-W-F. That is what alot of HT Dr's suggest. The 1mg propecia (Fin) will stay in your system for 72 hours. The for first month I noticed an issue with the sex drive and then all is normal now or even better. I have been on FIN for 5 months today. If you invested in a HT than you should follow the system for success rogaine once a day and 1 mg of Fin M-W-F. And wash your hair with Nizoral 1% or 2% three times a week. That is the plan I was given by Dr. Cooley and I am sticking to it. The propecia is stop or slow down the future hair loss in the crown area.

    Good luck!

  11. Tubs,

Your hair loss is very similar to mine. And we are around the same age. You have be by a couple years thou icon_smile.gif. I am 1 month out from my HT (4500 grafts..planned for 3500 but they got 4516)and I wanted to see where I would be in 4 months and if I grow like you all will be good. I did have some grafts put in the crown but I do not think is was that many. Good luck and thanks for the update on your pictures. I look forward to seeing your future pictures.

  12. Mikey,

I was told by my doctor (Cooley) that it is okay to wear a hat just so that the grafts are protected by the saran wrap for the first 7 days. Because on day 7 I went back to Dr. Cooley's office to have the scab's cleaned off and removed and they put on some new solution for 30 minutes and then they scrubed the recipent area fairly hard to clean of the scabs. And I was told that my scabing was very good and I did a great job keeping the grafts and head clean. So, I would have hated to see if someone would have not cleaned their head and used the Regranex during the first 7 days.

After 7 days those grafts are locked and loaded.

  13. Kaz,

I would try Nizoral 1% or 2% shampoo it is for dandruff and also helps with hairloss, rogaine 5% liquid or foam and Propecia every M-W-F. That is what I do. Also, if you see a dermatologist to answer your questions that would not hurt either.

    Good luck!

  14. rkready,

I just had my first HT procedure 3 weeks ago and it was with Dr. Cooley. I selected Dr. Cooley because of his reputation in the HT field, his results, and his honesty. He also was selected along with Dr. Rose in September by other Hair transplant doctor's as the best in there field in research and staying up with the best technology to use with HT's. He and his staff are best in class. I can only speak for my experience with Dr. Cooley and his awesome staff. They ALL go above and beyond the call of duty.

I would schedule an appointment with both Dr's and then you will know which way to go. And also do your research on each and then you will have the piece of mind with which doctor to go with.

    Good luck!

  15. IB 26,

I just had a FUT with Dr. Cooley 3 weeks ago and I asked his assistant Ailene about the FUE. I she was not for it. It is alot more expensive and time consuming with the number of sessions. So, I felt that she and Dr. C where not promoting the FUE so I dropped it as a thought. Because I wanted to use Dr. Cooley and once I got past the "cut" I was okay. And that was not until the morning of the HT procedure. Good luck! Dr. Cooley and his team are awesome.
