Are you visiting Dr. Tykocinski?

If you are can you let us know how large your session is and why the approach is designed the way it is?

We get so little information on some of these Docs sometimes it really causes me some concern.

Anyway, smooth sailing and Good Luck!!!!

BTW, try NOT to have your eyeballs pop out of your head icon_biggrin.gif

Customs, If you're smart you'll go to the doctor mentioned by B Spot. He has to be the best doctor down there if he's in the coalition.

Is he as good as the American coalition doctors? I've no idea, but theoretically it should mean that he's using the latest techniques, and thats key.

Also, although I'm no real judge, it sees to me that you've enough donor hair, and enough hair on your head to make a good go of it.

Dump the rug buddy, you'll be glad you did.

i've been to brazil a couple of times, loved it.

cheers,

mark

Hello Customs and welcome to the forums,

What concerns me about your last post is that it seems you are "settling" for a doctor that you don't know anything about, especially since you are asking if anyone still uses plugs. Take a look at the below link...this surgery was done somewhat recently and it is obvious that the latest techniques are not applied. It is extremely important that you are very educated about HTs if you are not going to a coalition doc. You should know everything from how the process works to the diameter of the blade being used on your head to place the grafts. The results below aren't terrible...but this is attributed to the fact that he has a decent amount of native hair left. If he loses his native hair in the front, he's going to left with a very pluggy look. Not to mention that at 3 months, there are still holes from the blades still noticable in his head that he confesses to having to cover up. You run a big risk by going to a non-coalition doc. I'm not saying there aren't good docs out there that aren't coalition docs....I'm only saying that you better know your stuff before you take the plunge. Otherwise, you'll be wishing you never took that rug off your head! I don't mean to sound so alarming...but it's important you see it like it is...it's for your own benefit.

Customs....hope your no-name doc will do a good job, and you'll end up looking like a discount kewpie doll.

If you learn enough here, you might be able to vet the doctor you want to see, but the odds of him doing a good job and knowing the cutting edge techniques available today without being on anyone's radar is so small, you're better off taking your money to a casino....

My recommendation: go to a coalition doctor, or put your money on 17 black.

Hi C

Big risk .. I would n????t do it if I didnt know who the doc was and his skill level.. You are aking for problems.. I'd save and spend the money when you could fly to the US .. No sense in having a HT is it's a bad one.. Especially if you are throwing away the rug

sorry to say this but you are, at least acting as, insane: "I Hope he uses this," and "hope he doesn't do that"??? It's your head you're talking bout, and HT is permanent. Why take chances? Whatever happened to cancelling and going for a surer thing?

Customs,

Of course it's your decision and you have to do what you are happy with. As I said previously...just because a doc isn't on the coalition doesn't mean he is not a good doctor. I don't know that every doctor in the world has been put under the microscope to determine if they meet the criteria for a coalition doc. Perhaps this doc is just as good. However, I think people here make good cases...that the coalition docs have already proven themselves to be part of the coalition...so going to them would be much more of a "sure thing". However, if you ask the right questions and are educated and this other doctor meets the criteria, I'll differ from everyone and say go for it. But know your stuff...look at before/after photos (not only 1 year after, but directly post op to make sure it looks good), ask the right questions, and make a decison based on good information.

One last comment: Dr. Shapiro is a good doc btw...he's one of the highly respected coalition docs on this site. I'd keep it in consideration.

Which Dr. Shapiro? There is more than one. There is one located in Florida that is not a part of the Coalition. The Dr. Shapiro that is a part of the Coalition is Dr. Ron Shapiro of Minnesota.

I agree with the other posters that you would be doing yourself a GREAT service by reesearching your chosen physician a little more. Dr. Tykocinski offers world-class hair restoration in Brazil. Please don't let price be a major consideration for you. Ask yourself what is more expensive? A great hair restoration procedure that will be natural and flattering for the rest of your life or a cheaper procedure by an unresearched doctor that may cause you to end up needing costly repair work?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to scare you. However, I and the others on this forum have seen unfortunate results so, so many times before. We just hate to hear about someone else going into a procedure blind. We really do hold ourselves up to the responsibility of making every attempt to caution you and help you out any way possible.

And many times great doctors are not the cheapest. Here in the U.S. or elsewhere. Just look at the rates the "hair mills" charge in comparison with the Coalition physicians - most of the time it's about double or MORE.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be glad to help you out along with all the other very knowledgable posters here.

There are actually three Shapiros, to be exact. The Coalition's Dr. Ron Shapiro has been training his brother Paul Shapiro for a few years now. Dr. Paul Shapiro is performing great work and will no doubt be an industry leader.

Let me add to Robert's post----

ANYONE who thinks that the mini-graft multi-blade wielding Lawrence Shapiro does good work, needs STOP! and RUN!

Leave your deposit, leave whatever and move on.

If you are willing to pay for that type of surgery, go visit Shapiro Medical in Minnesota.(the last name is the same, the skills are world class)

If your bound and determined to get a HT in Florida, look no further then Dr. Rose or Dr. Glenn Charles. Each of these docs will provide you with a state of the art HairTransplant, at competitive rates, and will NOT BUTCHER YOU.

Do yourself a favor buddy!!!!!!!!

I hope this helps you out and leads you to a great experience.

Go Cubs!

Thanks everone for pointing out once again that DR LARRY SHAPIRO in South Fla is not me. It has been a thorn in my side for years that some of his work may be mistaken for mine. I do belive he piggy backe his practice to some degree on my good name. I am very grateful that when it come up you point it out

My brother is PAUL Shapiro and he has been working with me for an number of years now. His work is making me proud as he has the same obsseive compulsive nature about gettign it right as I do. We also both had the same jewish mother that made us feel quilty whenever we disappointed anyone....another reason we try so hard Any way just noticed the post and had to reply

thanks Ron shapiro

Dr. Shapiro,

Thanks for chiming in. I have seen a number of your results via pictures only and your work has been superb. Of course I was oblivious to the fact that there were other Dr. Shapiro's...who would have thunk it? icon_wink.gif Good news about your brother...I'm sure with you training him he'll become another legend.

hey guys,

well its been about 8 months since my HT and i thought i would let you guys know how it went. well first off i know know i should have listend to all your advise because i am not at all please with the work i had done, i think i just waisted 2,000 for nothing.

the hair is growing ok but it just looks so bad. there is proberbly about a 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch between each implant and it looks like a man-made forest with all the tree's in a row. i have large holes from his tool that he used to implant me that i cant see them going away, i guess that is why i bleed so much after the surgery like a stuck pig. i am forced to keep my head shaved down and wear a hat till i can come up with something, god damn i am so stupid for trying to save a few bucks, now im not even sure if i can afford a repair. i know there is one doctor in brasil that you guys mentioned that is supposed to be good. i will contact him for a Consultation. please any advise because this time i am all ears. i will get some pics posted soon. thanks again..

Dammit Customs!

I don't understand why you did that but I digress. Now, you must look for a repair job which can make things right..

The god news is many times a good COALITION doc can add grafts to blend in the old work making it work for you .. Without seeing the work we can't speculate

Good luck
