Lance-

The active ingredient for Rogaine is Minoxidil. I believe Regaine is a generic for with the same ingredients, if not, don't buy it. Rogaine is a brand name.......Minoxidil is what may reverse the miniaturization of the hair follicle. Bottom line.......make sure what you're buying contains Minoxidil!

Hope this helps.

I don't use it and am far from an expert so check with others or a Doc. From what I understand, they do make higher concentrations which contain 5% or maybe more?? The standard which studies measured was 2% Minoxidil solution. I'd do some research to see what studies show the results with 5% or more solution to see if the added cost is worth it. I do think it works, the regimen was just to messy for me to consider long term.

Best of luck!
