Senior Member Approach Posted January 6 Senior Member Posted January 6 Suppose a great surgeon like Dr. Pittella does your HT, and he creates 'good' density. Generally Speaking: Afterwards, is it a bad idea to sprinkle in small amount of SMP throughout my scalp anyway? The goal would be to turn "Good" Density into the illusion of "Great" Density. (Assume that the SMP was done well.) Or, is this a stupid idea? Or, should I return for a 2nd procedure someday? (I'm asking b/c I am in favor of a 2nd surgery. But, my GF favors the SMP route. Thus, your responses will be helpful to us.) TY
Regular Member Caplol Posted January 6 Regular Member Posted January 6 (edited) I think if done properly, it will maximise the illusion of density ,its like a permanent fibres in ur hair especially after a surgery with a magician like Dr Pitella. In both cases u will benefit from the SMP either u stay with one surgery or u go for a second one. Edited January 6 by Caplol 1
Senior Member CEO_of_DHT Posted January 6 Senior Member Posted January 6 In my opinion SMP should play a role in the long term hair restoration strategy of younger, aggressively balding men. In your case I‘d just go all in with a HT from an elite surgeon (that Pittella certainly is). A second HT (do you really have the donor for this?) needn’t be mutually exclusive from SMP - you can do both. But better to make assessments after HT1, rather than get ahead of yourself. 1

SMP has a place but it has limitations. Under direct light it doesn’t really benefit. Indoors yes it helps. But overtime it fades and overtime your hair colour will eventually turn grey. I think fibres trumps SMP if you’ve exhausted surgical options down the track. Ultimately you are looking for naturalness. 1 GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix

Regular Member Falling Posted January 7 Regular Member Posted January 7 (edited) SMP with long hair will work only if you have decent density. But if you have poor density or bald spots, it will look weird. Fibers will make your hair look fuller, but SMP only darkens your scalp. It won't do anything to your hair. So it can definitely help a little bit in certain cases, but don't expect a big difference. PS: I used fibers for many years, and I had SMP 4-5 years ago. Edited January 7 by Falling 1
