Regular Member SuhDude Posted October 29 Regular Member Share Posted October 29 Hi all, Whenever I get a scab from a fall or something, I apply generous amounts of coconut oil to the scab. This greatly expediates healing time and my overall recovery. It helps soften the scab and provides an overall better environment for healing. Reduced scab & scar too I never see anyone mention skin post-care to the donor or recipient area. People just let it heal - I'm suprised non-medicated oils aren't used more often. I saw one website claim that you can begin using oils after 10 days and this is obviously up to the doctor but does anyone know why this isn't more common? I will 100% plan on using coconut oil to minimize scarring on my donor area when I get my HT Any experience with this? Thanks!
Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted October 30 Valued Contributor Share Posted October 30 No offense @SuhDude but if this was the case everyone would be doing it. Even Verteporfin is not approved for this use. GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix
Regular Member ScottishGuy21 Posted October 30 Regular Member Share Posted October 30 The problem with applying oils and leaving them is that they can build up. So soon after a transplant you could be inviting infection / yeast build ups which can trigger things such as Seb Derm. Be careful and follow your clinics instructions.
