Advice on a second transplant

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I had 2500 grafts 2 years ago. I had a widows peak and now my right transplant ara is thinner than my left. I've been through the different haircuts, got a therapist, and don't know if i should get a second transplant. My goal would be to fill in the current area to keep it from looking so much thinner than the rest of my hair and than my left side.

Does anyone have experience with being unsatisfied with their hair transplant in a similar situation? I've seen more than one person regret it even after a second transplant. If it's not going to get the job done I'd rather not add more scars to my head. But if it can get the density to where it looks more uniform I'd really prefer that.

Because my hairline is a little high, i find that short sides make it look most natural. Growing it out to do a large comb over looks a little odd and then I'm spending my time worrying about wind etc.

It took me a while to accept the new hairline and I don't plan to alter the shape of the hairline as that might just make accepting harder again.

What experiences do you all have to share?

Please see attached photos.

Thank you for you help.

Hey joe234,

i also was very unsatisfied with my first hair transplant and had a second one 6 months ago, the results aren't fully there yet, so it is difficult to judge so far.

To better understand your situation, maybe you could provide some more information.

Do you take any medications to combat hair loss? Where did you have your first surgery? How much are you bothered by hair loss? In a best case scenario, accepting your genetics and shaving your head could save you from stressing over your hair. I personally am quite attached to my hair and that's why I chose to go down that route. I take finasteride and if I need a third transplant I will get one. However, if you at the end of the day don't care that much or if you think you can accept the shaved look, then I would say go for it.

Your first transplant didn't turn out great, but I think a good surgeon can definitely improve the situation. Based on the pictures, your donor area doesn't seem over harvested so I think you can  have further hair transplants.

Hope this helps you!
