Hello Everyone,

I recently had a hair transplant in Istanbul with Dr. Altan as my doctor. Everything went smoothly, and the doctor and his team were very professional. The operation took approximately six hours.

In this thread, I want to share my journey with you, including monthly progress pictures and updates on my recovery. I'll provide details about my pre-op experience, the day of the surgery, and the post-op care and instructions I received.

If anyone has questions about the procedure, the clinic, or anything else related to the hair transplant, feel free to ask. I'm happy to share my experience and offer any insights I can.

Thank you for following along with my journey!

On the third day after the operation, I accidentally damaged a graft while sleeping. I woke up to find a bloodstain that had dripped down my head. Fortunately, the damage wasn't too severe, and I could only see one graft that had come  out.

On day 10 I was allowed to carefully remove the scabs.
It was a strange feeling because, although I was allowed and supposed to rub gently, my scalp was still numb, and the scabs were not coming off easily. As a result, some scabs remained afterward, but it wasn't a problem to gradually remove them during the following washes.

On day 15 the transplanted hair was starting to shed.
I am currently on the 27th day, and it looks even "worse" as more hair has fallen out (picture to follow in a few days).

I should probably add a few more details about myself :D

I’m 23 years old and have been experiencing hair loss for several years. If I remember correctly, it started around the age of 18 when my hair began to thin out at the front. I’ve always had a naturally round hairline and a large forehead. Over the past two to three years, the hair loss has worsened, which has really bothered me.

In mid-February, I started using Finasteride and Minoxidil. While I did see some improvement, Minoxidil couldn’t completely revive my hairline haha. I noticed that my hair became denser, but there was no growth at the spots that already had no hair. Or maybe if I would have used Minoxidil for a longer time then I would have seen some growth but I wanted to be certain that I would achieve my ideal hairline in the long run. I knew that even if Minoxidil could restore some hair, I would only be satisfied with a hair transplant, as I didn’t want to keep the U-shaped hairline.

That’s why I’ve been researching for a while and eventually came across Dr. Altan, or rather his results.
So I booked the flight to Istanbul on June 25th (I live in Germany btw). Coincidentally and fortunately, my grandmother lives incredibly close to the clinic (about a 20-minute taxi ride). I stayed with her for a few nights. On June 26th, I had a brief consultation, and the surgery took place the following day. On June 28th, I had to return to the clinic to have the bandages removed, wash my head, and then I went straight to the airport to fly back home.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them. I will try to check this post daily.

Hey man, thanks for posting this. Could you speak to the Drs role in the operation, what his level of involvment was?

Yes, of course. The operation consists of three parts: 1. Extraction of the donor hairs, 2. Opening the channels in the recipient area, and 3. Transplanting the hairs. Dr. Altan performed the second step entirely by himself, while his team handled the other steps. It's worth noting that he mostly supervised his team. Although he left the room occasionally, it was clear that his team was very experienced. I understand your concerns about hair mills that treat dozens of patients daily, use multiple teams, and have the doctor barely present. This was also very important to me, as I wanted to avoid such a clinic.

I can assure you that it didn't feel like a hair mill at all and definitely wasn't one. On the day of my procedure, I was the only patient because I chose the premium package. However, even without the premium package, they only treat a maximum of two patients per day. Dr. Altan's team consisted of 4-5 assistants, with no more than 3 working on my head at the same time. They seemed very experienced, as evidenced by the consistently good results you can see on YouTube.

I recommend visiting the website yourself to compare the different packages. Personally, it was important to me that the hairline looked natural with single hair grafts and that I was the only patient on the day of my operation. That’s why I chose the premium package.

It's interesting how the Dr scattered a few grafts along the hairline. I really want to see the end result of this to see if it gives a natural look. I think it will as long as the grow in as all single hair grafts.

Here are the prices of the packages. You can also view them on the website.
I am not entirely sure about the Choi implanter.

Today marks two months since the transplant.

From here on things can only get better hahaha
I'm curious to see how things will look next month. Maybe I'll shave my head completely again, just like before the surgery.
But I'll need to check with Dr. Altan to see if I'm even allowed to do that.
