Seans
Hello everyone, I’ve been battling hair loss for roughly six years, experiencing significant hair growth and loss while hopping on and off medications. After extensive research, I decided to go to Turkey for a hair transplant. I successfully received 4,630 grafts (790 singles, 2,230 doubles, and 1,610 multiples) at the Yaman Clinic in Istanbul for $2,950. This price did not include a hotel stay, as I had a separate booking. Why I Chose Yaman: Yaman works with a maximum of three patients a day and is an approved surgeon on the Hair Restoration Network website, as well as an active member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. He had plenty of (mostly positive) feedback on Reddit, HRN, Instagram, and Facebook. During the consultation, Ihsan, who I chatted with on WhatsApp, was responsive but not pushy. Some other clinics would text me multiple times a day, which didn’t feel right. Pre-Procedure: I was picked up by their shuttle at about 7:45 AM from my hotel and dropped off at the Yaman hospital. I was introduced to two other balding men in the waiting room, and we chatted a bit about our hair loss and why we picked Yaman, which comforted me. We all went in for a blood test, then immediately went up to the third floor where the hair transplants took place. We were called in one by one to Dr. Yaman's office, where he drew the hairline and used a 3D scanner to identify the thickness of the hair, miniaturized hair, and how many grafts would need to be implanted and where. He used some calculations to determine the density in each region. He cut three hairs from the donor area, measured the thickness of each hair, and took an average (0.06 mm for me), multiplied by the surface area of the needed implantation area. Based on the calculations, he determined I should receive 45 FU/cm² in the frontal hairline, 35 FU/cm² in the mid-scalp region, and 25 FU/cm² in the crown. My donor area was average, so he aimed to give me natural density without over-harvesting. We then provided payment, got shaved by the technicians, and Ihsan took pre-photos for their files. We changed into our surgery gowns and then each navigated to our own operation rooms. The Procedure: After a few minutes of waiting in my surgery room, three technicians walked in and I was told to lay down on the surgery table face down. I received about 10 local anesthesia shots to the donor area, which were a bit painful (7.5/10 pain). They poked the area a few times to check if I felt any pain and kept injecting until I was fully numb. I was then given a Xanax to help me relax, and the extraction part of the surgery proceeded, which was completely painless. The tech used a slowly rotating micromotor extraction tool to pull the grafts, while the two other techs separated the grafts, sprayed them with saline solution, and stored them in the fridge. This process lasted about three hours. Then, Dr. Yaman came in to create the scalp incisions. I received another roughly 10 local anesthesia shots to the scalp by Dr. Yaman himself, and he created the incisions with no pain, which lasted about an hour. Then, I went to lunch. Lunch was great, but only about 20 minutes. I was served chicken skewers with rice, salad, and some water. After lunch, I went back to the operating room while the techs did the implantation of the grafts. This was painless but took about six hours. Dr. Yaman and Ihsan checked on me about four to five times during the surgery, which comforted me, as the techs didn’t speak much English. Conclusion: The overall surgery process took about 9-10 hours and went much better than I expected. I’m a pretty nervous person when it comes to anything needle or blood-related, and I got through the entire surgery without much panic. The hardest part was definitely the local anesthesia, but after that, it was smooth sailing. The techs played Turkish music, talked, sang, and laughed, which actually comforted me. This type of work is extremely tedious, and it’s not good if they’re tense the whole time. Ihsan reassured me that the clinic is not just a clinic but a legitimate hospital. They perform many different surgeries in Dr. Yaman’s hospital, but Dr. Yaman only works in the hair transplant portion. Dr. Yaman seems like a kind and truthful surgeon. He was honest about my hair situation and what results he could provide with my average donor and large recipient area. He mentioned I might need another surgery in the future for more density and that my donor area should have a few more grafts left. Overall, I recommend this clinic as it’s not a hair mill. Dr. Yaman is involved in the hair design, calculations, incisions, and overall guidance of the surgery, and the techs worked confidently without hesitation. After the surgery, I was provided with antibiotics, anti-nausea medicine, painkillers, saline solution, and six months' worth of hair-focused multivitamins at no cost. They also picked me up from my hotel the following day for a cleaning, as well as my other two buddies who also had their transplantation completed with me the day prior. If anyone has any questions, feel free to reach out, and I’d be glad to answer. Thanks for reading!

Senior Member Matthias Posted August 23 Senior Member Share Posted August 23 Thanks mate, also had mine done at Dr. Yaman (ca. 4000+ grafts, 5 months in). They told me the most patients they did in one day were 6. You're supposed to take 2 tablets of the multivitamins each day btw, try to read the tables on the side of the boxes attentively.
