Chadcheese
I am 44, almost 45. Been on 1mg of fin for at least 8 years. Had gradual temple recession and slowly over 10-15 years thinning at the front of my hair line. Due to my age I did not want to lower my hairline, but I wanted a conservative approach. I decided to proceed today with Dr Konior due to results with lower graft numbers that I have seen on this forum and for his ability to not have major crusting, and a rapid recovery time. He explained that how he does that is he takes his time cutting holes and implanting and uses smaller holes. I flew here the night before and will be here for 5-7 days to just relax and since it is my companies slow season I have told my staff I will be away working from home during that time. I have never felt so nervous and anxious in my life. Fear of the anesthetic needles, the recovery phase that is still to come and my ego finds it tough to admit to others I proceeded. I am the face of my company and wearing hats for in person meetings in 2.5 weeks will be interesting. I am sure these are all fears anyone considering a transplant have. The first 6 pictures is from the day before (the later ones are with dirty hair and you can see thinning, which is not so noticeable when hair is clean). I arrived to Dr Konior at 630am. Introductions, signing forms, and discussion on hairline of which Dr Konior was in agreement at my age lowering of the hairline would not look natural. So we agreed on the following hairline. The pictures to show that are where I am shaved and have hairline drawings. You will notice we decided to not go straight down on the temples, but rather do a subtle improvement on them, and focus on thickening of the actual hairline. Also I don't have a clear pic of my before shaved donor hair, but you will see that after shaved donor and it is very strong, even the doc said so. Procedure started and I truly have to say the anesthetic was minimal pain. I have heard thru friends that people cry due to the pain. Needles in my mouth at the dentist have been more painful. They do use a vibrator on your skin so maybe that helps, but also the valium I was given throughout the day and before the surgery helped. Extraction started, had a bathroom break, more extraction, quick lunch and then implementation. Details are all vague as I was hopped up on valium which I have never had, but was thankful for. Next hing I knew I kind of came to at about 8pm and we only had another 45 minutes. So surgery in total was about 8am to 845pm. It flew by. I have some after pictures which are from right now, the night of surgery. I will maybe post day 1 thru 7 then every week or so if anyone is interested. Thanks for reading and to be honest as of right now I WOULD recommend Dr Konior and his staff to anyone! Chadcheese
Here are the pics tonight from immediately after surgery I posted on here solely to give an example to people debating on whether to proceed. I won't know for sure for 6 months or so if it was for sure worth it. However the stress I had pre surgery is now gone and I can say at this point I am very glad I did it.
