Advice needed from Australia

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I’ve been following your posts for some time.

I’m 47 years. i have had two hair transplants here in Australia and the results were far from what I expected. I had a FUT 2400 and then a year later a FUE 1900. I’ll post some pics from what my hair looks like. Very little density. Quite disappointed with the results. I am looking overseas as this is really depressing me. I hope I still have grafts available. I’ve contacted Dr Bisanga and Dr Feriduni in Belgium and from what I gather they are pretty top.
I tried finasteride oral but I hated the side effects - I felt like I was a mental wreck. When I stopped it the symptoms went away. I’m willing to try topical finasteride. Any tips or feedback? I have an occasional fast heart beat which worries me this is why I don’t want to try minoxidil.
I really appreciate any assistance. I’m pretty distraught.

thank

best wishes

alex

Hey Alex. At least you have found the forum. As a fellow Aussie I have been researching Australian hair transplant surgeons and there is literally nothing here that can compare in the slightest to elite surgeons overseas. Have a look at the recommended surgeons on the forum and patient posted results and see who the surgeons are. You've already chosen two excellent surgeons but there are surgeons recommended by the forum such a Dr Laorwong in Thailand as well as a couple more. But yes, you will have to travel and this is surgery for life so it's not a big deal. All the best!

Hey mate do U have before op pics because maybe it's not to bad if I had not much hair before op . I am thinking of getting done on Australia because I dread going through airports with a messed up head . Which clinic did you use in Australia, I was thinking of going to hair doctors in bondi ?

Hi Gatsby

i hope you’re well. Further to your response, I want to ask you about topical finasteride since I could not tolerate oral fiansteride. At which chemist  can I get this in Melbourne and is it effective as the oral meds? I appreciate any feedback.
I think I may be having a HT by Dr Feriduni late next year. He has recommended 3000 grafts in the frontal regions and mid scalp. I honestly wish I had not had any surgery here in Australia.

I couldn’t tolerate oral finasteride either at 1mg a day or by microdosing. My dermatologist prescribed 0.25ml finasteride. After two months I felt my libido was again diminishing so I told my dermatologist that I will cease this. However I could have gone down in dose topically which is something I am seriously thinking of doing later this year. You need to get a referral from your GP to see a dermatologist who can prescribe topical. There are compounding pharmacies throughout Melbourne to dispense this for you. Hope this helps.
