Good candidate for HT? Looking for options Gur/Yaman

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I have just turned 30 and am looking for a Dr. with a good value for money. I have narrowed it down to 3 Doctors in Turkey after a lot of research and decided to go with Dr. Yaman, but after reading few recent not so good reviews I am not so sure I should chose him. I am also thinking of Dr. Gur with FUECapilar, whom might be available within the dates I am available.

I considered the standard package with Dr. Gur, but he is a bit too conservative and would not work on my crown, might not even be able to lower my hairline nor cover the temples, would just focus on density. I would feel safer going with Dr. Gur, but I am not sure if I would be happy with the areas covered. On the other hand, I was happy with what Dr. Yaman could do in terms of lowering a bit my hairline, working on the crown and temples,  but am not so sure about the quality.

I am on finasteride and Minoxidil for over 3 years and was way balder before that, medication has helped me a lot, but I have not notice any improvement lately.

Dr Gur also classified me as Norwood V. Do you agree with that?

Below quotations:

Yaman - 4000 grafts for $3250

Gur - 3000-3500 grafts for Euros 5700-6600 VIP package or Euros 3800 Standard Package - including hotel and transfers.

I appreciate your comments and suggestions/recommendations.

Thanks in advance

It's hard to classify diffuse cases, in a way yes you could be classed as NW5 but you have diffuse element so you would definitely require way less grafts to someone who is slick bald NW5.

I think somewhere in the region of 3000-3500 grafts would be sufficient in your case.

Because you are diffuse, you want to go to a surgeon who specialises in diffuse cases and can transplant in between existing hairs without causing permanent shock loss. So be very careful who you go with.

In my opinion I would not go with any of the doctors in your list because I have not really seen any diffuse work from them, and Yaman is a bit of a hit and miss, he has some good results but also an increasing number of sub-par results, so I think you did the right thing questioning your decision to go with him.

I know you are looking for good value for money but this is not one of those things that you can re-do.

What is your budget like?

Lastly, curious to see what you looked like pre fin/minoxidil - do you have any photos that you are willing to share? These meds are amazing if you respond well!

Really good that you have been on medication for  3 years.

@Ccd99 have given you really good advices. Have you looked at other in your case and similar hair loss with diffuse thinning? how well did their surgery go and who did they go to?

you say you have done research but what kind of research? You should not look at doctors or cheap clinics and be restricted to a country but look at their results with similar hair loss and hair loss pattern.

and lastly, is really good you are staying away from Yaman and looking at other options. You don’t have time to be a repair case or get a bad result

You need good doc that is good with diffuse patients. I would not do a HT without paying up for a top notch doc good at diffuse cases. It looks pretty decent right now and going to a poor doctor may do more harm than good.

dr. farres seffen recently posted a great result with a diffuse thinner such as yours, might wanna check him out

considering that you are indeed at least thinning the norwood 5 area and are just 30 yet, id definitely go conservative.

I am following this thread closely as my case is very similar to yours. I am also suffering from Diffuse Thinning. Please do update if you have made decision on which doctor to go with
