Dr Pittella and Finasteride

I was just watching an interview with Dr Felipe Pittella (interview was from a couple years ago).  @Melvin- Admin interviewed him and asked a lot of questions that people had brought up on the forums, and they looked at specific cases of his— really good stuff then, at the end of the video, @Melvin- Admin asked him why he doesn’t prescribe Finasteride… but the video cut off mid-sentence as Pittella was just starting to answer.

anybody know his answer?

@Dr. Felipe Pittella as a doctor took an oath. Ethically he cannot prescribe something he wouldn’t take himself. But he’s actually coming around to the idea of topical finasteride and dutasteride. I believe they’re much safer alternatives.

That’s helpful info.  I need to look into this more.

regarding Pittella in general, I’m continually more and more impressed. Also love the way he comes across in invterviees (like one’s you’ve done with him).  Seems to really know his craft and just comes across as incredibly knowledgeable and focused (doesn’t feel like he’s marketing himself at all).

You’ve interacted with him a good bit.  Any thoughts?

what are his prices?

When I was considering him not too long ago it was 5 USD per graft for highest level of doctor involvement

Man, that seems good for his quality level.  I know he typically does big sessions with high graft count, so final cost could be quite a bit.  But a lot of grafts is probably what I need!

thanks for the insight.

Would definitely reach out for a consultation soon as it takes a while to even get the consultation, and surgery is probably booked until close to 2026 by now

I need to get on it.  I heard back from them and need to fill out the form and send in pics.

What led you to choose Miln over Pittella?

I felt that the best long term donor management strategy was to focus on FUT first. Even if someone wanted to go to someone like Pittella who can take tons of scalp grafts with FUE, maxing out with FUT first still would yield more long term grafts. I also realized I probably didn't need 10k grafts to get the results I wanted and I'd have to wait almost 2 years to see Pittella, whereas Dr. Ted could still do a massive session in one go, and we could do a small second procedure down the road to get me where I needed to be.

Man; that’s really helpful insight. I may be in a similar boat.  I’ve wrestled a lot with FUT vs FUE.  Just concerned about the linear scar and how short I could wear hair in the back.  But yours looks so good already!

just something have to to keep thinking about and wrestling with.

remind me what Miln’s cost is?

Typo of Miln’s name (autocorrect made it Milan)

Was quoted at 2.8 GBP or at the time around 3.5 USD per graft
