A graft came out, ????

Today is day ten after surgery. I doused my recipient area in Hemp seed oil and was running my fingers through it to get my last scabs off. I looked down at my hand and I realized the graft was on my finger. Then I looked at my hands more closely And I realized there were at least three grafts on my fingers.

Has it been long enough that the root of the hair is still in my head?? If the root of the hair is still in my head i'm not upset. I know they're going to fall out and then grow back again. I just don't know if Ten days is enough time!!!!

I was poking at my scabs on day six And i'm worried that I also took a hair out on day six

When removing scabs in and around that 10 day stage, it is normal that some hairs will fall with the scabs. Some may even appear as though the root of the hair is connected to the follicle, but don't worry, unless the site on the scalp presents any bleeding, the bulb of the hair will be safe below the surface of the scalp.

Make sure not to pick or pull scabs to remove them and avoid any pulling with your nails. The process of washing your scalp and then the scabs drying will weaken the scabs and they will eventually fall.

Here are some examples of how hairs may appear when shedding post surgery depending on the time time -

Once again an important distinction needs to be made regarding scabs and crusts…they are 2 different things…scabs are simply dried blood whereby crusts are dried out tissue…it’s the tips of the grafts above the scalp line that are exposed to air post-op, and the tips dry out and can become quite hard…when the crusts are removed typically 10-12 days post-op, yes many times the graft hair stubble is attached to the crust and comes off with it.
